The 'Orlando' way

At my first teletherapy appointment a short time ago, I told my therapist that I liked to invision my transition taking place the Orlando way.

If you've seen the 1992 film based on the the novel by Virginia Woolf you probably know what I mean.  If not, I certainly recommend it.

Without giving too much away, it's simply the most elegant transition I've ever seen.  Pure fiction of course, but it left a deep impression in me when my then girlfriend rented it it in the 90s.

I knew nothing of it at the time, and remembered little of it recently except for the graceful way he gradually became a she with little fanfare.  It's a fantasy that stays with me to this day.  To me, it has everything to do with transitioning from the inside out.

My therapist went and watched it, so I got on ebay and bought a VHS copy.  It arrived yesterday, so I put on something nice a treated myself to dinner and a movie.  I was so moved inside I'm kinda speechless.  My desire for transition, and my fear of failure are both so intense right now that a movie like that can hit me with a profound blow.

The visuals are stunning.  The costumes are amazing, the photography glorious, and Tilda Swinton looks like a classic oil painting in every shot.  (she reminds me of Elizabeth Star).  I may watch it again tonight just to explore my feelings some more.

Great movie Ann W have watched it many times . . over the last 400 years?

As she looks into the mirror and discovers her new self, Orlando murmurs:

“The same person, not different at all, just a different sex.”

I loved the book and the story (written in 1928, progressive for it's day), did not know about the movie, I'll have to check it out someday.

Thanks Ann
