Hello Jude and welcome to Transgenderpulse!

We can certainly direct message you, but you don't have direct message privileges yourself until you clear the five-post mark on the forums.

So as the mood strikes you, please feel free to join the discussion, ask questions or whatever strikes your fancy. We're glad you're here!

Hugs!

Hey Jude! Welcome to the forums and hello from your neighbor here in NYC. It's nice to meet you and I'm hopeful you'll find the community here warm and friendly.

(Now I have a certain Beatles song stuck in my head...)

Love,

Hi Jude, Nice to meet you. If you have a minute and are open to the idea, why not tell us alittle more about your journey thus far? I’m sure like many others here, you have much to share. I’m sure your story might be of help to others who have had similar backgrounds and experiences.

Warmest Regards,

Susan R?

Nice to meet you all too. Here's a little of my background: I found out that trans people existed in college and thought that was really cool. The first transgender person I met was a transman who passed very well. I thought he was cis before he explained that he was trans and even showed me a picture of what he looked like pre-physical transition (unprompted).  I was very out as a pansexual polyamorous person and even lived in the first gender inclusive housing on campus at my school for my last 2 years of undergrad. I helped to keep this housing open and available to students on campus since my 2 out transgender roommates didn't have any spoons for advocacy in addition to simply being out and trans at the same time (in addition to dealing with 2 different kinds of mental illnesses respectively). This housing has expanded since I've been there and now includes 2 suites in freshman housing in addition to 2 suites in upperclassmen housing (although I imagine this may fluctuate on the need for gender-inclusive housing based on the amount of people interested per semester). I went to many gender discussion groups hosted by a nonbinary person in my area after undergrad and came out as nonbinary around 2017-2018. I use They/Them pronouns exclusively and have issues with gendered restrooms whenever I am in a building that doesn't have a gender neutral option. If I have to choose I will typically use the women's but I hate it. I wish all buildings had gender neutral restrooms available. I lived in San Francisco for about a year and was able to get an "X" on my drivers license, which was awesome! Then I moved to NYC and got my name changed with the help of some lawyers who took on my case pro bono (in connection with the NYC LGBT Center). Then I moved back to CT and had to choose between "M" or "F" on my new license and was sad, but at least the name was right this time! Last January (2020) Connecticut updated their requirements for changing a gender marker on licenses and I was able to change mine to "X" again so I'm pretty psyched about that. :) Currently I'm taking classes to get my masters at a local state school and working full time from home with my girlfriend (she's trans too). I've had to advocate for myself a lot this past semester since Connecticut's state schools haven't updated their systems to allow "X" as an option yet. It's slow going but my estimated graduation date is Spring of 2022 so I've got time to make some noise before I graduate.

Awesome news about your wife @Willow!!!   And, I hope everything goes well at work. There is certainly generational difference in how we look at employment requirements and what we expect/demand.

      That's awesome news!

Good morning    I got to sleep in today, and I have a short day. Noon to 4:30.  I get to ease back into my work week. Looks like we have an abundance of senior staff today.  The top three have a 2 hour cross over together, Mgr, Asst and me.  I wonder what’s up.  I also see the asst isn’t getting her usual schedule at anytime this week, in fact, I have her schedule Thursday and Friday and she has mine.  I’m sure something is going on.     I do know that the Mgr would not mind if the Asst quit but she has no grounds to terminate her.  And then there is Richard.  He has the most years at the store, but he is very inflexible when it comes to his schedule he wants 32 hours no more and no less, 6:30 to 2 when he works nothing else and every Wednesday off.  So right now he’s getting 16 hours a week because that’s what works for our schedule.  No one is getting all the hours they would like, I’d love 9 to 5 MTWTF.  But that will never happen and I knew that when I started.  At least I don’t have to work 5pm to 0030 close.  I hate that shift.   I decided that I would not pursue the Jeep.  Yes I’d like to have one again but not right now.  Maybe someday.  Right now I have too much on my plate.  And maybe more coming at me.   Sorry for boring you with my work things today but that’s about all I’ve got.   Except, wife update! We went to Costco yesterday and she walked with the aid of her roller walker but she walked Costco!  Back is looking really good.  The deep wound is really coming back together  nicely.  Today she said she maybe over did it yesterday but that’s exercise for you the following day you are always a bit achy or tired but that’s a good thing!   Thanks for listening (reading)   hugs   Willow

Thanks for explaining this, @VickySGVI would hate for this issue to be over. As long as there are trans folks alive it's never going to be over. We are, therefore we are.

Good morning everyone,    @Birdie I love that shirt, it looks great on you.    I’m sitting on the back deck swing enjoying the birds and waiting for the dew to lift off the grass, so I can mow the lawn. We’re expecting four days of rain. The morning coffee is almost gone, so it won’t be long before the yard work begins.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I'm glad you've found an avenue of care and that is less glacial than the NHS! Let the countdown begin!

I don't understand how if it's wrong to block care for 2 people, it's still okay to block it for everyone else.   But of course I'm not a lawyer/s   "He said minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria "deserve love, support, and medical care rooted in biological reality.""    The thing is, they don't believe we actually exist.

Good morning,   Put on my favourite new Rock band Tee from Torrid and some shorts.  I am just about ready to go spend my day at the stuffy day-centre after I get done soaking my feet.

4 months doesn’t seem such a long time now compared to the times I was previously looking at! 🙂   Many thanks to @Karen Careyfor pointing me towards GenderCare, they have been nothing but helpful and professional, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.
