My story

I figured I tell you my story on how I found out I was trans this will be a long one.all when I was in middle/high school.I new something was wrong about my gender, I use to try on my mom’s underwear and pantyhose. The feeling i got I supposed to wear something like that.this was the first time I hid this feeling from myself. a month later I saw a dress at work, I thought was cute  so I purchased it . And When I got it home I had to sneak  it passed by my mom and I did. Then tried it on in my room and there was that feeling again. And I said to my self this isn’t right we are a man not a girl. Then I shoved that feeling again deep inside myself. But at this point I all ready was sorta playing as the opposite gender in imaginary play. But it really didn’t hit me intel I started to watch a anime called ranma one Half. The one where they could change there gender just by the temp of the water. And I thought it would be cool i could change into a girl and never change back. Then I just laughed it off and didn’t think about it again. But that feeling kept coming back and back. Of course I’m a gamer so I tried playing the opposite gender in rpg and it felt right. Then I started to look up what was gender dysphoria .Then I did some research on it off and on for a long time. At this point i new I was trans I just didn’t want to deal with it. So I would beat my self very time that feeling came up! And said you are a guy and not a girl. Soon after that I tried to  commit suicide in 2015 shortly later that year I came out as trans, but my father’s health was as declining and I put my mental health on the back burner. I’m not going to add any more to this story because it would take for ever. Ps im sorry I haven’t been around  just Ben really busy.

Hi Ava, good to hear from you again and thank you for sharing some of your story with us. I certainly relate to the long road of struggles with gender dysphoria, doubting my own gender identity and expression through mental battles in my head, and nearly self-destructing in my darkest moments. It sounds like you are in a better place emotionally now than before you came out several years ago, though I'm sorry to hear about your father. Wherever you are in your journey today, I'm hopeful you'll find the support you're looking for, both here as well as elsewhere in your life.

Love,

~Audrey.

Welcome back, Ava.  If I've never met you before, I'm glad to meet you now.  Your story is similar to many here, including the part about wishing to end your life.  I'm glad you didn't, and I hope that if you ever feel like that again you'll come here and talk to us, or visit the Chat Room via Discord.

Please ask us any questions, and we will always do our best to answer them honestly; no sugar coating, I promise.  Take care of yourself and good luck!

HUGS

Hello @Ava87, It is nice to read a little about your journey thus far and how it got you to our forum. Many of us here have had similar experiences..including myself. I think researching, experimenting, and looking for answers can be helpful, especially in the beginning.

Have you discussed this with any family or friends you can trust? It’s a tough thing to go through alone. Isolation is sometimes one of the things that come with being trans but it comes with a price. Finding allies for support is so important, imho.

If your mom supportive of you with regards to being trans, maybe she would help you find a good therapist to assist you in this process of self exploration. I know it’s confusing at times and can cause a lot of stress. Just realize that you are not alone and it’s possible to work through all this in time with some help. We are here for you and will try to help you in any way we can.

I wish you the best on you journey wherever it may lead you,

Warmest Regards,

Susan R?

Hi @Ava87! Ranma 1/2 was a big clue for me, too :D  Love your profile image btw, so pretty!

The part of your story about your first dress reminds me of one of my favorite manga: Wandering Son (aka Hourou Musuko) I recommend it if you haven't read it already. It's out of print and hard to get, but there are fan translations online.

I'm thinking about some interactions yesterday I did, while presenting as male but acting as female, that were far better than I did when I was presenting as male and acting as male.  #girlunderhood. I do a crappy job at acting as male and I am giving it up.  I am not talking about feminine gestures or presentation but just relating as a woman.  People don't realize I am doing it but it is a whole lot easier to do.   You don't just put on a dress and BOOM you are a girl.  You are a girl and you put on a dress.  Or not. Whether I am in jeans or a skirt (I wish, wife would have lots to say) I am a girl.  I don't need $250 in makeup and heels and hose and all that.  I don't need surgery. Honey, I have arrived.  Now I have to work out how that best works in my life, causing the minimal damage and creating the maximum good, but I have more working room.   Oh, and I am still pissed off at everyone and everything. #Contradictory.

@Willow it is certainly possible that my husband planned it. Placing me in the path of an opportunity....he certainly does things like that. GF has done some work for the company as an outside consultant, so I'm sure the company owner knows what potential resources are around.    It could also have just happened randomly. He has taken me to work with him before, just because he likes to have me around. I remember one time that I fell asleep with my head in his lap, and he held a meeting with his subordinates without waking me and making me move.  The company culture is family oriented and relaxed.

The photo is great.  Software is phenomenal but it also is sort of a promise of things to come. Years ago this sort of thing took a photographer and Photoshop and all sorts of things and you would say, "I can look like THIS??"   Me, I am a duck.  That's from my driver's license.  Just kidding.

I lucked into that picture. I took like 10 before that, which appropriately make me look like a donkey. ;)   Thank you so much for the compliment!

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Mindy, that would be so awesome of you.  Please make the edit for me, and thank you so much!

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.
