Transpulse pages slow to load

DeeDee

Recommended Posts

I do not know if anyone else is having this issue but I have noticed that my page response times seem to be getting longer and longer so I thought I would ask,

is this happening to anyone else?

For example I moved from a private message screen to the main forum screen to write this and it took 32 seconds for the page to load.

Once I have accessed a page for a session it speeds up to the usual few seconds but this has been consistently happening to me for a while now.

I use Google Chrome as my main browser, I have a decent PC and broadband speed, other sites I access load in seconds, and even in my chromebook it takes a while.

Hi @DeeDee

Yes - I'm getting the same sort of response times, but that's nothing new for me. Maybe a bit slower in the last couple of days but not significantly slower than the normal level of slow!

I’ll raise it with piper later on, when I’m on my pc rather than my tablet. Of course, it could down to the size of the database...

I agree, Dee Dee.  This site has long been very slow to load pages. Other sites I visit don't have this issue.  Thanks for looking into it, @Petra Jane.

That was my first guess.  Maybe a judicious trimming might be in order.

It comes and goes with me. Sometimes it's quick, other times not so much. I'm using Chrome. Number of windows open doesn't seem to be a factor. Sometimes It's quick when I have a dozen TGP windows up, sometimes not. I was chalking it up to internet demons.

Hugs!

This may sound terrible, but I'm so glad it's not just me! 😳

Funnily enough, the site has just loaded the fastest it has for a while...

Maybe it is intimidated by you Petra.  Mine also loads slower than some other sites but it isn't disturbing.

Hugs,

It loads pretty slow for me as well.  I have gotten pop-ups that warn that the page is using a lot of energy.  I've not seen that on other sites.

But I don't want to complain, this place is a lifesaver for me.

It has always loaded at a crawl for me. Hasn't felt consistently slower the last few days. I always assumed it was because it was probably being hosted on a budget friendly hosting plan since it's not a money driven forum.  If it's a shared hosting plan bandwidth can come and go depending on demands by other sites.  I may be totally wrong though.  Never bothered me too much since it's run by donations and the service it provides us is so special I don't mind waiting 5-20 seconds for a page to load.

Actually we are on a dedicated server so I have asked Piper to take a look.

I remember dial up waiting times, so don't want to complain because of a few extra seconds and seem ungrateful lol, I remember starting to download something and coming back the next day to check on it and hope the connection hadnt dropped! I'll take 30 seconds over that any day! 😄

I presumed a lot of my slowness was due to Windows 10 as it is going slower and slower on my laptop. I find some other sites are a bit iffy at times too, although this is the slowest.

Just to make you aware, I've set some background processes going that are supposed to make things run a little smoother/quicker, ONCE these processes are complete.

These include changing the caching that allow Guests to see the forums from refreshed every 30 seconds, to 30 minutes, also extending the time that caching takes place. These processes are currently at 11% complete, and have been running for 10 minutes or so, so please allow at least an hour for this to complete.

Plus Piper is going to take a look at the server asap.

Seems to be much better now.

Thanx

Just as long as you're not caching a cold, PJ.  So far, so good!  Thanks!

Things appear somewhat quicker now.

Thank you!

I'm still experiencing about 6-10 second load times. Seems longer when clicking on notifications links.  Pretty confident in my connection speeds and computer processing since it's a new mac and I have high speed broadband.

Piper has checked and she get's complete page loads in about 3 seconds.

Admittedly, that is a lot better than I do, from my area of the UK pages take about 6-8 seconds

I've run a test to load the forum home page and that loads in 4.17seconds based on a US ping.

The same test running from a UK ping/location reports just 2.09seconds to load the page.

It's been really responsive for me this morning. I just did a quick test and I'm getting 16ms pings so any problems I'm having isn't the internet itself.

Hugs!

Cool, When can I move in? JK.   Had some water works yesterday afternoon. we were discussing well the wife was talking I was just Uh, Huh. most of the time. then she hit on a point that started it. My oldest has barely brought his family to our house. My grandson has been here maybe 3 times. while my granddaughter has never been to our house.   My wife reminded me that our oldest son doesn't like our home. the way it is kept maybe I don't know. Maybe because it is in a low income apts. Oh, He has gone to his in laws who live about 100 miles away. Stayed a week or so. never here. Heck, I think he wouldn't visit if we lived next door to his in laws.   My oldest is so much like my father. When we lived back in MI. he visited our home. maybe 5 times.   While our middle son has been here with his family plenty. Which I am so grateful.   Have a good day all, I will try.   Kymmie

Good morning    coffee was good today.  It’s my E shot day. I always look forward to that.    I have a dentist appointment today which is always fun.  Strained my back yesterday trying to start my pressure washer.  It would run. Eventually I broke the starter cord.  At least that didn’t happen when I was really giving it a hard pull.  I’m trying to “repair” three golf cart batteries.  I have three that are just fine and three that discharge rather quickly. I am running a repair cycle on a battery charger. High 70s here!  Finally winter is breaking its grip.   hugs to all   Willow

Hi Tamsyn.  Indeed you are not alone.  just knowing that helped me.  We can support and understand each other as few are able to do.  Glad you've joined us.  As another bald person i've grown to enjoy my wigs.  Kinda like wearing a hat and warts and cosy in the winter.  Your picture is lovely without one!  Enjoy.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is so familiar!  If you had said nylons instead of tights, then I might have written this.

@Charlize wise words from a wise woman. "Right on."

This woman doesn't make me angry as much as sad.  Having lived through a time where "love it or leave it" was a constant theme i'll survive this stuff.  She is a pitiful person!  We must expect pushback.  In the last few years we have made awesome progress towards being understood and accepted.  Not surprising that that has become difficult for some.  As Trump moves into the background these folks will hopefully crawl back under their rocks. In the meantime "keep on truck'n"   Hugs,   Charlize

I guess I actually disobeyed my first rule about people like her. Bad press is generally better than good press and her intolerance and notirity grows. I have found the best remedy for these types is to give them NO PRESS. And so I am sorry I brought her up. She does not deserve extra space here and I would like to see this post removed...although on the bright side I do like and appreciate all your views and they are all valid and good arguments for giving freedom of speech. Had the press lived by my rule she could do whatever she want and not get what I believe she wanted all along....press and her name in the news. Sorry I disobeyed my own rule.
    • 2beBreanna
So you become intolerant.  See where that becomes an issue?  If no one is free to think differently there will never be advances in society.
    • DeeDee
Hi Tamsyn, pleased to meet you! It was such a relief to see other folk who had done the same things as I had for years!
