Changing my name maybe

Benji C

Recommended Posts

I don't know where to post this so I'm just going to post it here....

I don't know if I'm going to do this or not but I was thinking of changing my name again... Ainsley is the name I chose when I first knew I wasn't cis and at the time I thought I was nonbinary but I wasn't and now I just think it's too feminine sometimes...  but I do associate the name with myself... but not a lot of people use my name so I don't know if I want to keep it or not....

If I am going to change it I'm also wondering what I should change it to and I have 2 ideas... my first is that I kind of want to choose whatever my mom would have named me if I was born male... she has a couple ideas but most of them are super religious or ugly... the only decent name she picked was Ben or Benjamin... but part of me is thinking that if she isn't going to support me transitioning then she shouldn't get to pick my name but another part of me feels like that's mean cause she is my mother and if I pick the name she wanted she might be more likely to support me later.... my other idea is just go with what I like... and I like the name Lucas and I was going to make that my middle name anyway but I might make it my first name if I do change it... but then again I don't even know if I want to...

I guess I will have to think about that more....

If you want to change your name here just let one of the Admins know via PM and we can do it for you.  Either Benjamin or Lucas sound good, they are both a bit Biblical, Benjamin (youngest brother of Joseph) is a bit Old Testament and Lucas (Luke) are New Testament.  Even if you are feeling hurt about mom's attitude they are both strong male image names.

Nothing at all wrong with changing your name if the first one doesn't fit. I didn't end up going with Jacqueline after all (I kept it as a middle name, it's fine). After all, you're the one that has to wear it. Which one fits better?

Benjamin: My name book says it means "Son of the Right Hand." Shortens to Ben. A good, strong name.

Lucas on the other hand means light. It shortens to Luke. Also a good name and popular among fans of the original Star Wars trilogy...

Wait, both names feature heavily in the original Star Wars trilogy. If we're going to use that as a yardstick, old Ben Kenobi was a way cooler character than whiny Luke. Though to be fair, that was apparently a genetic trait in the Skywalker line. Anakin was whiny too.

Hugs!

I went with a name that my mother was going to name me if I had been born a cis girl. Now she says she doesn't like Holly much anymore. Now I'm kinda stuck with Holly. Don't get me wrong, Holly is a good name, but TBH, if I picked a name now I would go with something else. So my advise is to think of something you really like. So few of us get to pick our own name. Just take your time and try out different names until you find something that feels right.

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Mindy, that would be so awesome of you.  Please make the edit for me, and thank you so much!

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @violet r   I think we all were scared with our first post here on TPF. I hope you come to find this site as welcoming as an old friend. Not knowing the type of retail you're in, it is hard to know how they will react to your coming out. I would hope that if it's part of a larger corporation they may have corporate policies supporting/protecting you once you decide to come out publicly. No one here will rush you, or try to slow you down, once you've decided to come out. Some of us are secret sisters, and others of us are as flamboyant as they come. The cool this is you get to choose. You be you.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!

Oh Yes!   This one is so obvious to anyone who has had a cat and observed any Big Cat.
