Convert to Islam

Hey y'all, and Assalaamu Alaikum wa rahmatallahi wa barakutuh!  (Translation)  Peace be upon you and his mercy and his blessings

My name is Madinah and I am a convert to Islam who has been questioning whether she is a trans woman for the past few months, and I finally feel like I should reach out, because just holding these feelings inside of me has been exhausting. The thing I am most concerned about is my place in the Islamic community given my convert status and how when I say salaam I am oftentimes ignored. Further, I am kind of afraid because while I am bisexual I am mostly attracted to women, and I am afraid of having difficulties finding a spouse who I am attracted to (i.e. just about any woman or select men) because I am afraid to be ugly. Finally, I am scared because I know that transitioning is going to be dramatic as heck (I imagine it to be like converting to islam times 20) and I don't know if I have the strength! But I have to. Can anyone help give me advice surrounding the general topics of reducing anxiety and how I can find community as a convert to islam who is queer and trans? As a side note, I was thinking about getting a gym membership and would like advice on how to gain mass (I am a scrawny blank canvas right now lol) in the direction I am looking to, that is femininely, and not become some bulky man? I heard yoga helps? Thank you all! BarakAllah

This part I can help with. Yes, stretching is key and I absolutely recommend yoga as a path to get into better shape. If you're taking HRT, and stretching regularly (callback to the yoga) moving weights can help too. They'll help you get more definition than yoga will alone. You'll probably also want to add more protein to your diet. That'll help you build muscle mass while avoiding the weight gains that can come with HRT.

Hugs!

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
