Skirts to Pants is a Hard Transition for Me

I have long, shapely legs and because of this, I have always liked showing them off.  Despite being nicely shaped, my legs have also taken quite a beating over the years, so they look a little rough these days.  I minimize all the blemishes and scars by wearing pantyhose and since I generally always favor wearing a skirt or dress, I wear pantyhose a lot.  I really would like to wear pants or jeans more often, avoiding the need to wear hose, but I struggle finding pants that look good on me.  I have purchased numerous pairs of jeans in recent years only to realize they don't flatter me much.  I have discovered that wide leg pant styles are much more flattering on me, but with a 35 inch inseam, I struggle to find them long enough.  I actually found an beautiful pair of gauchos on a sales rack recently, that were my perfect waist size, but again, they were cut for someone a lot shorter than I.  In fact, it is next to impossible to find crop pants or gauchos cut for tall women.  So, I'm on a crusade right now to find the perfect pair of pants.  A pair that allow me to express my sense of feminine style while favoring my shape.  I know there is a pair of pants out there, I'm just having a heck of a time finding them.

For you plus size ladies. Lane Bryant, and torrid have usually have normal pants in tall 34-36 depending on the cut. The problem is the current trent. I work at lane bryant, and while they have boot cut and wide leg pants. The fashion world is loving ankle length for woman.

I have nice legs as well, but I also have two surgical scars on my left leg that are both 5 in tall and 3 in wide. I hate wearing pants, and would die without my minis, but I understand where you are coming from. I look at mine as a roadmap of where I have been, and every one has a story, my scars always end up being an icebreaker when I meet a new guy. I guess I have learned not to be self conscious about them. I never wear hose, because what's the point of hiding them? Anyone in your life that matters will accept your as you are. The rest are just noise. To answer your question, I have a 32in inseam, and I go with Levi's or Old Navy bootcut on the rare occasion that I do wear pants. They are flared at the bottom, are very flattering for my figure. Levi's makes a long size with larger inseams.

Here's an update on my pants search.  I found a pair of skinny jeans for curvy girls (an oxymoron for certain) while doing an online search at Macys.com.  They are high-waist jeans and come in "tall" length.  I ordered them.  When they arrived and I tried them on, the fit was great and they were actually long enough.  I think these are going to work for me.  Pictures at eleven!

I hate to admit the best pair of jeans I have I purchased at a yard sale for $1.00.  They simply fit like a glove.  The unfortunately thing is that they are also worn out to perfection so each time I wear them I know  it’s one step closer to the rag bag…..oh well, sigh.

Hugs,

Charlize

I hope that there is some kind of justice. It's very sad and it doesn't even mention the family and I could only imagine how they feel.

It's kinda weird how these people are so worked up over making these laws.  They would have no effect on cis people either way.  Yet they are the ones with the obsession.  They ought to just stay out of trans people's business.

Bean burritos are still popular in my family.   Black eyed peas are the one legume I'm not fond of.  I need to add lots of onions. And of course always cook your pintoes with fat-meat.  And for y'all yankees, navy beans with a big ol' ham bone are hard to beat.

Seek out community, not just online but in person if possible. Making trans friends is a pretty quick and easy way to gauge if you have much in common with them.

It certainly could be classed as dark humor.  Unfortunately the sentiments alone must hurt young trans folks.  Decency and reality doesn't seem to be in the GOP's vocabulary.   Hugs,   Charlize

Good morning all,    It’s a frosty morning here the lawn looks silvery, and the uncovered spring flowers have icy edges on their leaves. The only flower bed I covered was my tulips. As nice as it is here during the day, our clear wind free nights allow the temperatures to drop into the mid twenties. Here in our growing zone it’s recommended that you not plant delicate plants until Mother’s Day. Central Indiana can have snow as late as the third week of May. The birds are active at the feeders, I’ve had my cup of yoghurt and morning meds. So I’ll sit here, drink coffee and watch the as the sunrise chases the frost from the yard.    @awkward-yet-sweet I could eat black eyed peas as a side for every meal. Boil them plain or with fatback. Served as a leftover, just add in a little Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies.  Make the best of your day,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Had a weird dream last night.

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?
