How do I make a post without being timed out?

If you are making a long post, or take your time to make a post and when you click Submit you are told you need to log in and the post has gone, this is not an issue with the forum software, rather something called "PHP's internal session timing" and as such, this is not something that one can change.

 

PHP is the language that the software and thus the forums, run as against HTML which displays web pages (very simple comparision).

 

Apparently, the solution is to ensure that the Remember Me box is ticked when you log in. This sets a cookie on your device which basically bypasses the PHP's internal session timing issue. You can always log out manually when you are ready to leave and close your browser down afterwards.

Another solution is to draft your long post in a Word document, then copy/paste the text.

The only drawbvack about using Word is that the text can include a lot of spurious code.

Does Windows Note Pad have the same problems as Word??

I usually use notepad or similar text editor as it avoids embedded coding, and save a copy as a text file.

No, that is a text editor, rather than a word processor.
