Re-Birthday? New Birthday? Real Birthday?

I know in the last 2 weeks 2 of us legally changed our names. Do you consider that day your NEW birthday? a Re-Birthday? I know it can't JUST be A day. So what is the term we can enjoy using?

Personally, no. It was a good day. I had a lot of euphoria that day and I see it as one of my landmark achievements towards becoming my real self. I don't consider it something I need to celebrate though. I look at HRT and my GCS the same way. That would give me four birthdays a year. Who has time to keep track of all that?

It was awesome. I'm happy I did it and I have a cool story when people ask me how it went, but it's not on the same level as, say, my anniversary.

Hugs!

I'm lucky if people remember my first birthday. It passed uneventfully and without remark this year. Just as well, I'm done with getting older. I'm going to age backwards from here on out.

Hugs!

@Shay ROFL ...

I talked it over with my wife and got the idea from someone else of celebrating it. I don't think it will be something that I celebrate every year with everyone, but celebrating the name change once sounded like a good idea. Also it is honestly partially just a reason to get people together and celebrate new beginnings. At least that is my thoughts on it. I don't want anybody to bring me anything, except positive vibes and good feelings, as that is the best thing anybody can give me to be honest.

@AmberM your wisdom wins out - although 4 day of presents still sounds like a good like after what we folks go through.................

Honestly I have a hard time receiving presents, because if I wanted something I would just go and get it. So the idea of just getting friends and family together to celebrate the new beginning will mean more than any physical memento could offer. In the end the most precious things to me are good memories, playing games, eating food, and just having good conversations would mean so much to me.

No backrubs? I would totally go for four birthdays (or more! Why not celebrate FFS or BA?) if it meant happy birthday backrubs.

@Jackie C. I am all over my wife doing the back massages, but other people I haven't able to do that yet. I do want to use the perk of my one therapist. Apparently as a client, I get a discount with  a massage therapist that she is linked with. I should totally use that once we go back to in person appointments, try to time it right after therapy.

Oh, color me jealous. I am definitely talking to my therapist about perks. ❤️

@AmberM I understand not getting presents - I usually buy things I want - but back rubs - that's another kettle of fish entirely. My daughter is a certified massage therapist but she ain't cheap and being half Polish I go for cheap. Heck when I go for a flu shot, they say it's free so I get back in line and get a second one.

I hope you waited, oh, four weeks in between. You wouldn't want them to catch you double-dipping.

I'm so glad we are working through the positive side of having multiple birthdays in this thread because I am a big supporter of it too!!! ? Presents don't have to come in a box either (except from my sister who thinks its a federal law); a nice dinner out, a spa or massage day, a mani-pedi with my bff, or just getting some positive support from my family & friends are all great gifts! ?

Getting back to the original topic though... I've been thinking a bit lately about this very topic because I am less than two days away from beginning HRT and starting to get the paperwork sorted out for my name change. I think its all up to the individual, but I'm leaning toward my name change day being my "new" birthday, HRT being my affirmation day, and SRS being my confirmation day. If I can plan things right and have my court hearing for name change on my current birthday though, that would be ideal! I definitely see name change day being super important because that's when you become you legally to everyone no matter what, just like the moment someone put a name to paper when we were fresh out of the box! ?

Not me. Having adult children flips the table a bit. Not only do I get presents, I require them...kinda like tribute. In fact, I am so ruthless, I even implemented a 100 dollar buy in threshold.

Good conversation - I like the birthday, affirmation and confirmation day concept - no reason we can't mark those days to be extra kind and special to yourself even if no one else is forced to give presents.

I haven’t yet decided if I’m changing my name so I don’t get one of these. But I do “celebrate” the day of starting HRT and I think that’s gonna be my re-birthday for now.

Re-birthday for name change? I can behind that. With my Government birthday in January and my HRT start date in December I could really use a Summer birthday.

Wow that is a high number for Estradiol good grief! Testosterone levels are better than mine. I don't remember my Estradiol level but testosterone was 80. To me that is really high but it was in the two hundreds the check in before last one.

I don't understand why this would make a difference being a "dad" I mean, as far as how they would grow.
    • Ashley0616
I don't see why not. I have worn forms since I came out.

I have never worn breastforms, but I assume as long as they don't aggravate your nipples you could.

Every week I've been excited to take my shot, so it's never been an issue. Yesterday, however, I woke up and started my usual "slow roll" and then suddenly realized I had breakfast plans that I had to rush out the door for. After, it was straight into work calls, and then I got the notification from the doctor about things being too high and all the while my mind had completely slipped that I needed take my shot.   Given that I am not asking for medical advice, but sharing my journey, I will note my results: Estradiol at 447 pg/mL and Testosterone was 23 ng/dL, up and down from 26 pg/mL and 526 ng/dL respectively before treatment. Almost flipped the bit! The doc would like my Estradiol closer to 300 pg/mL, so we'll see what Monday's tests state.   Oh, and I teased the dinner with old soccer teammates and never updated the thread! It went well. There were a couple funny moments. One guy, who I was worried about their response, greeted me with "Hey, you've lost some weight!" 😎 And a friend who lives near me picked me up on the way to dinner exclaimed, after we learned one of the invitees might show up with a date, "Wait! We could have brought women?!" To which I instantly responded, "You kind of did, bringing me!" Everyone got a good laugh out of that. 😁

To me there isn't that much difference other the measurement, which side the zipper is on and men's pants have bigger pockets.

I hope this is not stupid question..I have yet to start n not sure if doc will approve..but once you start growing buds n such, can you still wear forms to get to the size you were?   I'm a dad, so when I start blossoms they will be smaller for a long time n probably need surgical augmented..that's fine. I don't want to go ddd to aa to ddd..   any ideas?   thank you

I like them too.  We had them growing up.  But my father's family were Swedes.

Oh my!  I guess it just goes to show how different tastes can be. Since we don't live near the ocean, Seafood is a rare luxury. We absolutely love pickled herring! Especially my husband and my GF, I guess it's a Ferman/Russian cultural thing.  But most of the kids like it too, and a jar wouldn't last in the pantry for long 😆
    • awkward-yet-sweet
I think the key to that is just not minding eating the same thing repeatedly. Since we produce a lot of our own food here, we end up eating what is in season at the moment. So, when the yellow squash is ripening, we end up fixing squash 20 different ways. When the strawberries are ready, we eat lots of strawberries. It's kind of a different mindset to eat in season when it has become such a part of American culture but the grocery store has everything we want all the time. Like grapes in December.  My family does even things out a little bit by having a greenhouse so we have some fresh things in the winter, but it's not a 100% fix.

My brothers and I had to eat what was on the plate.  All of it, and nothing else.  Pickiness was not tolerated.  Some of our least favourite were liver and onions, sauerkraut, and especially rollmops (pickled herring).  We finally protested enough to persuade our mother not to serve rollmops, though she kept a jar in the pantry for years afterwards, as a threat if we didn't behave.

I'll go first.  My favorite team is the Yankees.  Loved them since I was a kid.  I was born in NYC so, yeah.  I know everyone loves to hate them, and that's OK.  I just love baseball in general.  It's a game of traditions, strategy, power, grace and skill.   Play Ball!!  ⚾   Carolyn Marie

I guess you do have a good point. It's just hard to try and not have the same meals over and over again.

Hi   I’ll weigh in on being picky about food.  Yes, and I was brought up that way.  We didn’t have to eat everything our parents ate.  They had a number of things they ate that they figured we wouldn’t eat, an acquired taste things or one or the other didn’t like them too.   even as an adult there are many things I won’t eat.  In my defense, there are different things my wife won’t eat.   the weird thing is that after being in E, my tastes have changed.  Sweet, sour, salty or bland, if I eat or drink too much of any one thing and I have to counter act it.   Willow
