Not enough hormones!

I'm in Thailand (after FFS and BA) and heading back home to Japan tomorrow. I was expecting to go straight home to Okinawa, but because of new COVID restrictions, it looks like I'll have a two-week quarantine. I just noticed I don't have enough hormones! I have nine doses (of estradiol gel) left but have to stay until September 15. Ugh.

Anyone deal with this before?  I'm wondering which is better: 1.) Just stay on my regular schedule until I run out; or 2.) Try to pace myself by skipping a couple days now, and again after four or five days.

I thought I had planned pretty well, but this is my second quarantine this month. I guess it could have been worse. Suggestions?

(I don't know if I can get any more while in quarantine, but that doesn't look very likely.)

Do you not have someone who can get your meds and drop them off at your doorstep? Here in the UK we have many groups, mostly local charities, who organise such drop offs, I’ve even got some neighbours who have offered to get and deliver, at social distance, food or meds. Luckily, other than a couple of times this last 18 months, I’ve been able to get supermarket deliveries and to go collect my own meds.

Yes, this would be the ideal, and I'll see if it's possible when I arrive in Japan. Unfortunately, I'll be in Tokyo, which is very far from where my doctor (who writes my prescription) is in Okinawa. Thanks for the idea, Petra Jane.

I realise that things are done differently in different countries but here I can request my prescription electronically and can change the pharmacy where the prescription is sent to, might this be a possibility for you?

For GCS, most of us have to be off of our E for several weeks before the surgery as it is.   None of us have experienced any losses of development during those times so your options as you now have them would both be doable.  I would suspect there might be an LGBT center in Tokyo you could contact who may even have a doctor who can check with yours and have the meds prescribed locally for doorstep delivery.  Either way, you will at worst have a day or two of mild discomfort, but no real harm done.  Petra Jane's suggestions are also good as well.

Yes, that would be the ideal, and I’ll see if I can do that when I return to Japan, but it seems highly unlikely as my doctor (who prescribes) is down in Okinawa, far from Tokyo.

Thanks, Vicky. It's only a week, so I'm sure I'll survive. Maybe it's my imagination, but I feel like I need hormones more now than I did before SRS.

It was hell on me for a few days after they found a Blood Clot in my right leg, and took me off the E for six months, but I had been 3 years post GCS when that hit. I have lived and life is still good, wishing you peace and healing.

yet ironically for me synthetic hormones produced the best outcome, i am very cautious under the current climate (and movement against the existence of transgender) We seem to have moved from the reason why we are taking hormone therapy and now as i call it in the UK we play the numbers game we seem to have become trapped in a range game (female range) rather than our real reason is to align our bodies not to match a female hormonal range .

Finally got my butt out of the house again.  I'd been hiding at home for at least a week - other than the grocery store and getting propane for the heaters. I've just been really depressed to be honest.  I should stop looking at the news. I made myself go to the coffee shop to hang out around people for a bit.

Yeah, I'm for the right one myself.  Looks a bit more natural to me - just my opinion of course.

Mom finding more older pictures of me from the past. One was me dressed as tv show character Peg Bundy, this was in 1999 and I got a lot of attention from it.I remembered it too was out with friends going to a halloween  party.

I shall absolutely flip there is nothing more annoying in my book than someone calling you the wrong gender or using the wrong pronouns specially when said person knows what the correct ones are and has done for six years

Welcome Jenna.  Life can so many factors shape our journeys.  Finding peace and the acceptance of the journey as it comes are one of the results of my opening up here and working with a therapist. You are certainly not alone in your journey!   Hugs   Charlize

Hello there @Jenna Cornelius, welcome aboard. You belong here.   As April said, your questions about gender identity are something that most of us have dealt with or continue to deal with. You are not the only one to feel the need to define yourself. I have changed the gender description on my forum profile half a dozen times since I've been here!

I would choose the photo on the right. It just seems nicer, and Maeve, surely it is a better depiction of how you normally look? I understand the thing about whether you are allowed to smile or not, but if you could get away with using that one, please do so!    The one on the left does look a little bit like a mugshot in my opinion. But if that is what you prefer to use, more power to badass you! 😆   By the way, I'm so happy for you that you are continuing to ride a wave of elation after officially changing your name! ❤️
