A Few of My Drawings

Becoming Diana

Recommended Posts

A few of my drawings.  I'm  kind of a beginner so they're probably not as good as some other artists.  But I like them.

Nice! @Becoming Diana I like those too. Your portraits capture emotion behind the faces and the others show a fine graphic balance. Keep on enjoying yourself with this. My art sustains me, too.

Your drawings are really good. All are such different styles. Often we get caught up in one style one way of thinking and it is wonderful to be able to create with different styles as they bring different energies and let emotions and ideas come out.

Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Davie.  I haven't drawn anything for a while.  I feel like I need to get back to it soon.

Your art is lovely!  The shading really gives it depth and life. I know drawing can be super cathartic-- I hope you find it to be a constructive and exciting experience!

Happy creating,

Wesley

Good morning Diana,

I love the creative process of seeing something in your head, and putting it into a peaceful time. My wife would always talk with the kids about how much time I spend sitting at my workbench doing nothing. Then be totally surprised when a project was completed. I do believe that my hours of solitude in the shop were a form of hiding my true depression.

I hope you continue to share your Art and Life with as much happiness as you desire.

Hugs,

@Mmindy some people do yoga, others plates, still others cycle or run. We make stuff.

For me I believe it's a form of meditation that finishes with something created.

As is drawing and painting.

Letting oneself relax (despite the swearing when something goes wrong 😉) is a big necessity today.

Thank you to you both for your comments.  Drawing is definitely relaxing.  And satisfying.  The feeling of creating something that wouldn't even exist without your effort is so rewarding.

I have a wonderful quote from Ai Weiwei whose wonderful exhibit at Alcatraz i managed to see several years ago:

I'M NOT SURE

I'M GOOD AT ART

BUT I FIND AN

ESCAPE IN IT.

I met a ex-nazi soldier who was in army because he had to. He now lived in California. He was captured by the Allies and escaped because he couldn't stand being in concentration camp. He now paints to escape the memories.

Wow, those are great @Becoming Diana! I don't really draw, but I write a lot. It's a pretty big coping mechanism for me, since I get to feel in control and I can make as many trans, nonbinary, and other characters as I want. Two of my more recent characters are Matra and Jem. Matra is a trans woman and a warrior that built a safe haven for magical creatures and people, while Jem is a trans man who is a wizard with light powers.

Matra also has three kids and raises them to be accepting of themselves and others, while Jem owns a magic shop and teaches an apprentice there.

It feels really natural to write them, and I hope to write more in the future!

I love to see people's drawings. They are all different and give a picture of the world as it is. Keep up the good work :)

That sounds wonderful.  I've written a few short stories and poems.  I enjoy writing too.  I haven't written anything in a while though.  I need to do something about that.
