I'm getting new hair!!!!

I just had to share, a couple weeks ago I pulled the trigger on a Serious Hairpiece (something prepared by a pro, not a $20 amazon thing) and my follow up for final fitting/adjustment/etc. is scheduled for February 5th!  It'll be a custom topper to augment the hair I have and the theme was "What would my hair be doing right now if it hadn't run away 20 years ago?"  I am SOOOOOOOO  excited! My hair is a huge thing for me and this is a really big step, I feel like I'm going to explode!  I have been telling myself that it will be OK to cry if I need to, I don't have to hold it in.  That's going to be my mantra for the next 9 days. ;)

Yay!  I can see why you're so excited.  The only thing I hate when I get that way, personally, is the way time seems to dilate and it feels like weeks have already passed you by with no item to show for it.  You'll totally have to let us see when it's all said and done!  Also, I see nothing wrong with the tears when they're of joy.  Those are good tears.  They even have the Lynn seal of approval.

Pardon the pun, but this is the top of the world to you, isn't it?

@LennethI totally get that time thing!  I pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago and every day felt like an eternity!  When I got the call this morning to schedule the follow-up it was like a huge load off my shoulders!  9 days!  I will totally share a picture!

@VickySGVAbsolutely! My hair is my Big Thing, as no amount of GAHT or surgeries would mean much to me without it (that's the part I regularly see in the mirror).  To have a solution on the way, even if it's not my perfect scenario (would have loved to go bonded), is just the best feeling in the world.

@Kelly2509  I'm right on the cusp of getting a professional topper. I use the cheap Amazon. My HRT NP said I might be able to get Medicare to cover a "cranial prosthesis" - I think that's just a fancy way to say wig. What types of things did you ask for and get advice on. I'm really tired of the top of my thin haired head. The sides and length are good but much too much T damage on top.

That is great Kelly!  I kinda wish i could do the same thing but with the loss i suffered i just shave and wear a wig.  Like you it may not be perfect but looking in the mirror looks good.

Hugs,

Joking aside, I did need a top piece when I was first full time and the one in my Gallery here was on the upper price side, but it did work well.  A year later HRT had done the job I had hoped for and I did have new hair in female type but I did put this picture of me in the gallery with the Top Piece that did the best job, as said it was upper end prices.

Honestly, I legitimately have zero experience with wigs and top pieces.  I’ll just follow everyone else’s lead there.  But I feel like it doesn’t particularly matter what it is, anything that brings you closer to yourself is always a positive.  Hands down, no contest.  🥳

@Heather Shaymy gal actually suggested asking about insurance but I am kind of convinced mine wouldn't cover it so I paid cash.

I held off as long as I could, it's been 13 months on GAHT, 8 months on minoxidil and almost 3 months on finasteride.  There has been a little bit of progress, but not enough to convince me that I'm not too far gone.  The doc said to give the meds a year, so this piece is a bit of a stopgap solution while I wait.

@VickySGV thank you for the photo journey with your hair/top piece.  That was helpful.

@Kelly2509 I am the same with needing help on top.  I did start using finasteride about 8-9 months ago (with minoxidil too) and I am really happy with the results, which I could definitely see at the 3-4 month point but it continued to improve.  I have probably recovered about 50-60% of what I'd lost over the last 10-15 years.  Its not 100% recovery but it feels and looks much better.  The front hairline is not as good though, so in the end I might still need a top-piece to help.

Happy you have something to look forward to.  Excited for you, and would to see, if you can share some pics❣️

@KayCwell that gives me some hope for the fall! :) as I'm just approaching the 3 month point with both meds maybe there is hope for me yet!

I'll definitely be sharing pictures :)

Heres the update!  I'm so happy with the results!  Please ignore the "too much eyeliner" in the one though, I was in a hurry when i took that one haha!

thanks @Katie Mand @Charlize!  Out of sheer coincidence it turns out it looks very much like my mom's hair, though she keeps hers a bit shorter.  makes sense since I was trying to match my hair (a decent portion of that is mine woven through the piece) ;)

You know that GIF of the girl doing the little “yay” clap.  That’s my reaction.  Very nice!  I’ll have to get your hair to coach mine.  Maybe then it will look respectable at least!

today I went to the dentist and was really nervous things would slip out of place while in the chair and thankfully everything stayed put and still looked great on my way out.  I have gotten nothing but compliments on how the color and style suit me and how well everything blended together.  It's only Day 3/4 so I still have some getting used to it and figuring out what I can do with it, but so far this has been a gamechanger for me.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!

Good morning, everyone!! The coffee upload has started for me but just in the early stages so I'm barely coherent at this point.   You've been missed @Willow - I hope all is going well with your wife and at work.   @awkward-yet-sweet We love to make beans with rice - one of our favorite meals.   No big plans for me today. Small projects around our place and probably some reading. We're going to have some rain off and on, and the temps are still too low for a lot of outdoor work.   Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Thanks, @VickySGVfor some truth. Hatred may speak loudly in a political agenda, but there is always love, there is always love.

Doesn't this belong over in the Humor Topic??  Grim humor I admit, but it has the dark humor picture of the folks protesting the Sacramento Sanctuary Laws.  If the world is going to end next week why are these people so concerned about someone staying fertile and able to have children??   Crazy.

Once again the opposition is telling scary, unfounded  baloney about what IS being done to any Trans Person.  The truth about the very little and very cautious treatments just will not sink into them because it will sink them.  They bully their own Cis children unmercifully to fit into their molds, and that is gruesome in itself. I am happy to say I know that Trans children and all Trans folks in the area have access to wonderful care based on what some of my former State colleagues who have Trans family members and fellow employees there in Sacramento keep telling me about.

good for you dear. my guess is soreness is good sign things are going on there. water them n hope. smiles   actually was speaking to someone other day n they said the growth leveled off after a few years  which coincided with a few years of very high stress..n then when the high stress resolved, she grew another cup size..

darling I completely agree. but it will need road testing I'd think.    and I recently asked a surgeon about an idea I had for easier recovery...do a zero depth 1st..recover then add a canal..he said NO. this surgery is hard enough on body to recover, do not do it any more than needed. also said penile inversion usually is sufficient n includes a few centimeters of perineum tissue anyway..so keep the perineum pull through as a reserve technique in case there is a problem with theb penile inversion.    hugs to any who want them

I can't tell from the article if being trans was part of the motivation for the crime, or whether it was simply incidental to it. Clearly at least one of the perpetrators was known to the victim, which seems to continue the pattern that the most dangerous people for us are often people we know.  😒

Beans, beans, the musical fruit...   But beans and rice make a complete protein, and a pretty cheap base for any sort of meal. Since two of my partners are Hispanic and one is Asian, we use a lot of rice. Plenty of beans too, although 90% of the time they are on the form of black-eyed peas. That crop grows really well in the South no matter how hot and dry it gets.  And the Native American trio of corn, beans, and squash is a classic.  Actually, those ingredients tend to show clearly whether kids were raised with a healthy diet or not. Kids raised eating those foods luke them. Kids raised without experiencing those foods tend to reject them immediately. Rather strange.

I feel a little better about going outside. I got my EpiPen just in case of an emergency. Today was rough started euphoric and then depression hit real hard and I don't even know what it was about. It just happened. I want to see a bright future but it turns dim because of something. I was disappointed on how much supplemental insurance was more than regular health insurance. I enjoy seeing other successful people making it as a couple through everything in fact I cheer them on but it just makes me think if I will find anyone. I barely dated anyone when I was physically fit male and then it seems the older I get it gets harder. Not to mention everyone down here leaves as soon as they find out I'm trans. It's only going to get more difficult because of borderline personality disorder. It's dang near seems impossible that people would even put up with that. After all that I'm still trying to be positive and hope for the best but I always expect the worst and that has always been the case. Pushing 40 and I haven't even experienced true love.
