When I was a little kid (a long time ago in a galaxy far far away) the worst scare I got was a B movie called

"The She Demons."

The other worst scare - gave me nightmares - was "The Exorcist." Parts of it still give me the chills, even though I've

seen it a dozen times.

Other favorites:

The Omen

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Birds (not sure it counts as horror though)

If you like 50s B horror movies then you must have seen one of Paul Blaisdells' creatures - It the Terror from beyond space or it conquered the world (an angry turnip) and many others all on tiny budgets.

I was a fan of so many but occasionally they were made at Universal Studios with a real budget - Like the Creature from the Black Lagoon where the creature was designed by a team headed by Bud Westmore - one of the best in Hollywood for making monsters.

And that was when Ray Harryhausen was getting his start animating Mighty Joe Young, taking over from Willis O'Brien who sort of started it all with King Kong (much earlier)

Oh, I loved those films!

Love ya,

Sally

ALIEN!

Best horror movie ever made in my opinion. Beats out Night of the Living Dead, and Jaws!

Note the theme? Becoming supper for some hideous monster!

Most all horror films are based upon our fear of death.

Good topic!

i love horror movies... esp. bad ones. i dunno why but i have a huge guilty pleasure for really bad horror movies. like 8 legged freaks, snakes on a plane, prom night, all the friday the 13th movies, alien vs. predator, scream 1-3, the final destination movies. but i like good ones to. movies like 28 days/weeks later, the shining, jaws, all the rob zombie moves( I LOVE ROB ZOMBIE), halloween.. thats all i can think of off the top of my head.... so yeah, i like horror movies.

I prefer the subgenre of monster movies, especially the 50s and 60s B movies and the better ones. THEM! is one of my favorite movies. Give me a giant "bug" any day.

Now we are talking the great silent Nosferatu!

Invasion of the Body Snatchers - the original with Kevin McCarthy and in the last scene that was Richard Deacon (Mel Cooley on the DickVanDyke Show - word filter, Ha!) and the Blob with its cute little pop rock 50s song for a theme - starring Steve McQueen!

I saw Poltergeist in the theater on its first run, like the Shinning and Alien.

Yes!, Them! hat was an early one for James Arnes, he didn't dye his hair brown until he became Marshal Dillon.

Trivia time (as if knowing that Richard Deacon was in Invasion of the body snatchers wasn't enough) Did any of the older people here recognize the piolot of the small aircraft that they interviewed in an asylum - he apologized for not even having a string to hold up his Pajamas - it was the first screen appearance of Fess Parker - Dysney saw him in that scene and brought him in to read for the role of Davey Crokett.

Wheew!

By the way what about the stream of horror films that came across the pond from the Hammer Studios in England.

Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee (Ian Flemming's cousin - is there no end to the triviality of Sally's miind).

If you can find it check out, Island of Terror"

Love ya,

Sally

I love horror movies but ones that are not made just for gore factor scare me so much. The only horror movie i had a nightmare from was Jeepers Creepers. The second movie wasn't as scary to me. I did get freaked out by The Exorcist and by thirteen ghosts. The idea of ghosts terrifies me even as I love them.

I love the Saw series, Texas chainsaw massecure, the final destination series and the Alien series. I also like the predator series and AVP. I love the Rob Zombie movies and I only once got to see a hellraiser movie. Hellraiser was awesome. I tend to have the same issue as you though Shane.... I laugh too much in scenes with a large amount of blood so I try to keep my mouth shut.

I also have an obsession with serial killers which translates to movies. I'm not sure if you would count this as horror but se7en was good. I also watched hard candy and another thing with two serial killers called surveillance. That's all I can think of though.

I like well done horror movies like "The Ring" and "Alien". Horror movies that are nothing but gore (I call them slaughter films) I have no taste for.

I identify with Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) because she is strong and beautiful.

LOL

Horror movies are my favorite. Though lately, my stomach gets a tad upset when there's way too much blood. I've never been scared by any horror movie except Saw II (hey it was 2 am, we were on a sugar rush, and were telling ghost stories the entire time, not to mention the fact that I was in a house I've slept in only 2 times before) But it wasn't the "AHHH!" kind of scared, I don't know how to describe it. Lately, I've noticed that the newer horror movies are getting pretty cheesy (Orphan <_< and 30 Days of Night [the comic series was great, movie stunk])

I guess my fav horror would probably be Alien or Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I do not think I have ever seen Joan of Arc, when did that movie come out. I also was wandering if any of you heard of Resident Evil Degeneration, its a CGI film. It is really good, it fills the time between Resident Evil 4 and 5(the video games). It is worth checking out. I know this is a horror thread but another great Milla Jovovich movie is Ultra Violet( a little weird but good). I do not know if the story line is that great, but there is a lot of Milla kicking/shooting/sword fighting/etc. Good stuff.

I heard of it, and I have seen promo for them in the game booklets of the gamecube resident evil remakes. It looked cool, I just would forget. I have to check into that, thanks for the reminder. Something tells me you have read them. Are they good?

I like them too.  We had them growing up.  But my father's family were Swedes.

Oh my!  I guess it just goes to show how different tastes can be. Since we don't live near the ocean, Seafood is a rare luxury. We absolutely love pickled herring! Especially my husband and my GF, I guess it's a Ferman/Russian cultural thing.  But most of the kids like it too, and a jar wouldn't last in the pantry for long 😆
    • awkward-yet-sweet
I think the key to that is just not minding eating the same thing repeatedly. Since we produce a lot of our own food here, we end up eating what is in season at the moment. So, when the yellow squash is ripening, we end up fixing squash 20 different ways. When the strawberries are ready, we eat lots of strawberries. It's kind of a different mindset to eat in season when it has become such a part of American culture but the grocery store has everything we want all the time. Like grapes in December.  My family does even things out a little bit by having a greenhouse so we have some fresh things in the winter, but it's not a 100% fix.

My brothers and I had to eat what was on the plate.  All of it, and nothing else.  Pickiness was not tolerated.  Some of our least favourite were liver and onions, sauerkraut, and especially rollmops (pickled herring).  We finally protested enough to persuade our mother not to serve rollmops, though she kept a jar in the pantry for years afterwards, as a threat if we didn't behave.

I'll go first.  My favorite team is the Yankees.  Loved them since I was a kid.  I was born in NYC so, yeah.  I know everyone loves to hate them, and that's OK.  I just love baseball in general.  It's a game of traditions, strategy, power, grace and skill.   Play Ball!!  ⚾   Carolyn Marie

I guess you do have a good point. It's just hard to try and not have the same meals over and over again.

Hi   I’ll weigh in on being picky about food.  Yes, and I was brought up that way.  We didn’t have to eat everything our parents ate.  They had a number of things they ate that they figured we wouldn’t eat, an acquired taste things or one or the other didn’t like them too.   even as an adult there are many things I won’t eat.  In my defense, there are different things my wife won’t eat.   the weird thing is that after being in E, my tastes have changed.  Sweet, sour, salty or bland, if I eat or drink too much of any one thing and I have to counter act it.   Willow

I have shared my doses and levels a lot and no one has said anything. Yeah I put alarms on my phone to make sure I don't miss a dose. I tend to forget a lot of stuff on what needs to be done. I have been also using the calendar on my phone a lot. I missed an appointment because I didn't put it in my calendar.

Feeling better than I did yesterday
    • MaeBe
It's official. My doctor wants me retested after the last results (too high). The test, that she scheduled, was likely too close to the dose. She did tell me to keep the increased dose instead of reverting to my old one, probably because my "too high" wasn't that high. I don't know what the forum's stance is on results, knowing full well the rules against sharing dosage, so I'll keep those under wraps until I know if it's OK to share those. Less to say, it was over the range she feels comfortable with by about 50%, but taken a day earlier than the midpoint value she was expecting. Grains of salt everywhere!   Of course I messed everything up too, missing my dose for the first time, yesterday. I had to re-reschedule the lab I setup yesterday to Monday from Saturday after taking my shot this morning to avoid the same issue with the testing. I woke up and thought, "Thursday, what do I have to do for work today? OH -crap-, IT'S THURSDAY! I missed my shot yesterday!"   Anyhoo. Question for the ladies: does anyone else get a mild zen-like high after their shots/doses? My brain feels lighter and I'm happier and I feel a lot more girlie this morning. 💃
    • MaeBe
I'm into my fourth month of HRT and just titrated up in dosage after my last checkup. This is my life. 🤭   I have yet to grow out of my B cup bras, but I have noticed more fullness, having started with gynecomastia. I am seeing less gapping in bras with my right breast, which has always been smaller than my left. My areolae are slightly pronounced/projected now, that are larger but not vastly greater in circumference, and I have noticed little to no nipple changes beyond their painful sensitivity.
