It's absurd to think that a 10 year old trans girl has some inherent advantage over other 10 y.o. girls on a softball team.  Things are going too far.  It doesn't even make sense from a biology point of view.

When 10 year olds are smarter than 50+/- year olds.  It is free for all so politicians can be seen "doing something" when the public should be demanding their salaries and "campaign funds" be forfeited to the states as income tax refunds.

This.   They can hardly claim male puberty in this instance.

Another sad thing about this injunction, is that it only applies to this young girl’s case. Not the statewide ban on transgender girls. Every family will have to contact the ACLU for their specific issues or claims.

 

I hope they can set a precedent, making it easier to win or advance the issues.

Exactly.  Before puberty, boys and girls are pretty close in physical strength.  Girls have an advantage in fine motor skills and coordination, but that's about it.  As I understand it, a MtF transition that begins before puberty pretty much produces a female for all physical purposes. 

 

It will be interesting to see how this development affects the issue nationally.

I think if a person wants to play a particular sport, I think they should be allowed to do it, regardless of their outward appearance. It's been proven that when children play together in mixed sports, they learn to appreciate and understand each other. Sometimes the segregation of sports based on sex from the get-go can lead to negative outcomes on how people interact with each other.

 

I hope cases like this will help to better outcomes for other transgender youth in the same boat. Sports is a great pastime to get friends and start a close-knit community of people who share the same passions as you.

I agree....and I wish parents and coaches approached sports more from the cooperation/teamwork and having fun side.  I have never been particularly competitive (or even athletic) but playing soccer was the foundation of what social world I had prior to adulthood.  I think a lot of this discord could be solved by integrating boys' and girls' teams and having sports be more co-ed.
