Like Rain

 

Even in the Skagit
when it rains constantly
and you hold your mouth
open to the sky all day and
all week, you'll never get
enough water to keep
from dying of thirst.
Drink it like oxygen,
like your first kiss—  
it's a thirst for life
that will save you.

Thank you, @MayaXD The poem is from the viewpoint of an imaginary boy/trans girl who in a novel is the me I never had the chance to be. I'm rewriting my own past.
