School Litterboxes

So apparently, this is a rumor and has been around for a while.  I don't consider CNN to be a great source of information, but this stuff even has its own Wikipedia page 😆

https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/03/politics/scott-jennings-minnesota-schools-cat-litter-box/index.html

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litter_boxes_in_schools

Surely in this age where everybody has a phone in their pocket with a camera, this would have been put to rest by now.  All it would take is one student snapping a photo of a giant litterbox in a bathroom to prove it.  Lacking a picture of something so astonishing, I can't fathom the idea that anybody actually believes this stuff.  So weird!  Is the litterbox thing supposed to be some kind of metaphor for trans people?

Well, this just proves the saying of that great southern philosopher Billy CUrrington was right when he sang, "God is great; beer is good and people are crazy."

It is a Trope about our "identifying as a gender other than which we were born".   The have taken our Trans language of "I identify as" or "My pronouns are" and corrupted it to look ridiculous.  Here on the Forums we have had stories of this type for the years I have been here.  The conflation of the Furries (I do know a few) and the Dysmorphia victims who do have problems with their looks other than gender  (serious things such as Anorexia / Bulimia, surgery compulsions for multiple cosmetic surgeries by Cis People who cannot accept their own bodies as they are etc.)  Please note that this Furry misinformation occurs most often from states that are Anti-Trans.

Yea, if there's one thing QAnon has conclusively proven, it's that the alt-right will believe and parrot literally anything, no matter now insane it is to believe, as long as it involves "libs bad".

Yes, it's the same old "one and only one joke" that transphobes have, aka "the attack helicopter joke". It comes in different colors, but it's always the same one and only tired old joke from them.

Hmm.... hadn't heard the "attack helicopter" thing and had to look it up.  Learn something new every day.  I guess we stay blissfully isolated from most of this drama where I live.

One thing I've noticed is that most of these memes, rumors, etc. rely on hyperbole.  QAnon, for example.  There's a ton of trafficking, especially to the elite.  Can't deny that, as one of my partners was a victim....but how much it connects to politics or Satanic cults is dubious.  To me, much of the "Left" is pretty obnoxious.  The "Right" also.  And both sides spend the majority of the time blasting away at each other's straw men.

How much of this actually exists on the ground where normal people live?  Like, I'm pretty sure nobody is discussing litterboxes in my county's schools, or complaining about one agenda or the other.  Don't we have more mundane problems?  And IIRC, there was a hurricane a week ago that wiped out $50 billion worth of infrastructure in a nation that already had food, fuel, electricity, and inflation problems?

Yeah, of course it is.  But then, these people will believe anything about us other than we're just people trying to live our lives.

You know, when I first saw and read about this, Cat Pride came to mind. Apparently, and correct me if I'm wrong, there was a movement started in the UK for people who collectively identified as cats, calling it Cat Pride. When someone first told me about it, I face-palmed. Not only will trans and gender non-conforming individuals continue to be a joke because of movements like this, but Furries as well. It's tiring, but it does provide me with a good laugh. Those who know better will continue to make bizarre stories like this to heckle those who already have enough to worry about.

I think this story is definitely false. Looks like a post you might randomly find on 4chan or reddit.

I go to a Karaoke Night Club for the Queer community every few months where Furries are welcome to join in as well.  I have had to help get some zippers unstuck for a couple of them in "whichever" restrooms there more than once, and the person was NOT demanding a Littler Box or puppy training pad to pee on.  My friend who was doing the "hosting" for the Karaoke had a Fox Furry put a microphone inside its mask head, and it slipped inside out of his paw, retrieving the mic was difficult for Furry and Host.  Not one single request for a Litter Box ever.

@Russ Fenrisson I get a bit of a laugh out of it too....what else can we do with something this ridiculous?  In the unlikely event that I run into somebody who uses the litterbox story as an excuse to heckle me, I'm tempted to tell them that I'm actually a little feral fox, and so any random location acceptable for me.  Then proceed to relieve myself on their shoes.  😆

I love this! It reminds me of a joke I saw years ago on the old Jeff Foxworthy show. They were doing Redneck definitions, and the word "European" came up. The scene switched to two good ol' boys standing behind some bushes and the sound of water running. The one looks over at the other and says, "Hey Bubba, quit that! Yer a-peein' on mah shoes!"

I think I have relatives in Georgia who are like that...

@VickySGVSounds like a pretty funny situation. I've never been to a Furry event before but they look like fun. I've met a few Furries in person in the past and they're really cool, creative people.

@awkward-yet-sweetHaha! That's a funny one!

@Marcie JensenThat sounds like a funny sketch. I've always been a fan of puns.

Just read in an LGBTQ Nation article where, yes. the thing about Furries is a characterization of Trans identities.  A political candidate in Colorado is the main shoot from the mouth person in that fracas.  She has over 30 state school districts and 3 organization of school administrators and superintendants telling her to go chase a cat, preferably a wild cat who will turn and chase her.

I've always loved the Blue Collar comedy bunch.  One that cracks me up every time is "If you think Genitalia is an Italian airline....you might be a redneck."

What it isn't?  ROFL!!

@VickySGVThat's the first I've heard of that. I have seen furries who identify as trans before, but I never thought they would be considered as part of the umbrella of the trans-community. Interesting.

It's a straw man thing.  Transphobes jump on the most outlandish thing they can find, and paint us all with it.

I doubt that cis folks can understand what being trans is like.  So since we're not like them, they assume we're insane, and likely dangerous.

@IvyWhat a poignant poem; it perfectly describes society at its core. Emily Dickinson was always good at uncovering philosophical truths. She's one of my favorite poets.

It pains me to think that, regardless. If people would sit down and talk with a person unlike them and hear them out, maybe things would be different. Yet, people refuse to listen unless said person conforms. It's a scary thought process.

That is good, it actually kind of takes me back a bit, too...

According to family lore, when I was about 4 or so, my grandfather asked me if I was European. My response? Upset: "I'm not peeing!!" 🤣

Can't say I remember the incident, but I do remember the "european" pun being a bit of a running joke in the family when I was younger. 😁

There is nothing like scatology to bring out the best jokes!  Thanks for the flow of running jokes.   Now to change my panties.

We have been asked to post this study.   I'm an undergraduate university student in my third year completing a BSc in Anthropology. I'm working on my dissertation, looking at languages with grammatical gender (e.g. languages like Italian and Spanish, nouns are either masculine or feminine). I'm curious if this affects/bothers people with gender identities outside the typical binary of male and female, like non-binary or transgender identities. Using this forum, I would be very grateful if anyone could answer the 5 questions I have put together in a Google form, they are open-ended questions, and you can be as brief or detailed as you want/comfortable with! All responses will also be kept anonymous. As you can probably guess, I came to online forums because finding participants in person is difficult. Talking about gender identities, I understand, can be very personal, so this online anonymised format can be safer. :) If anyone is also particularly interested in this topic, it would be awesome to message one-on-one and do the Google form survey. Having one and one interviews would also be good research! But NONE of this is compulsory, and only if anyone is interested and doesn't mind helping me out and can do so. @Mia MarieI found this    Here are critical resources to help transgender seniors face the challenges of growing older - LGBTQ Nation   As far as financial aid I came up empty. :( I'm sorry. I can only imagine what you are going through.

@Adrianna Daniellecongratulations to you and your boyfriend! Hopefully a future wedding in the future!   @WillowI'm sorry about that he passed away. He sounded like a role model that others should follow.   @MmindyI'm sorry about your head cold! Hopefully it won't last too long and hope for good rest and recovery.

I see more and more postings with what the LGBTQ support organizations are doing and I see less and less about helping the older generation of us. All I really see is them wanting to help transgender youths and no matter how many times I ask for help, they tell me they can't help or they tell me the office I contacted only works with the youth only. Is there an organization that helps older transgender people? All I find when I do a search turns out with nothing more than talking about trans youths. I feel as though us older trasn folks are being left out. I applied for financial help in a form of a grant, twice, and was turned down with no explanations of why. They did ask me to help go over applications which told me I was automatically denied. Really doesn't seem fair, does it?

Require students to use bathrooms that align with the gender they were assigned at birth Prohibit transgender girls in seventh grade or older from participating in girls sports or other girls-only activities  Ban gender-affirming health care — including surgery or hormone treatment — for transgender students under age 18, even if parents consent or the treatment is recommended by a doctor Require schools to notify parents if students change their pronouns or otherwise signal they identify as a gender other than what’s on their official student records Doesn't look like it "protects" anybody.  It actually is about restricting trans kids rights.   The ways politicians name their bills etc. is a farce.  Most of the time they do the opposite of what they're called.

There's a lot of bad information out there.  People like the sensational stuff, whether it's true or not.   Too many people live in a news/opinion bubble.  My ex's late husband kept Fox News on 24/7.  It was always there in the background of their life.  There is something about "trans" stuff every day, and always negative.

Good morning everyone,   Head Cold and body aches are reduced today. @April Marie I'm glad you're feeling better too. Good luck timing the lawn care with the weather. @Willow It's good to hear that your wife is on the mend, and you may make it to Salt Lake City. I'm sadden to here about Tattoo Tom.   This is very good news @Adrianna Danielle   @Ashley0616 I hope you find the right hair removal service in a convenient location.   I'm on my second cup of coffee, and we're expecting rain this afternoon and evening.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well, I can not say good morning today.  The world has lost a loving, caring man that gave his all for others that are suffering.  I do not have details, however Tattoo Tom of Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Organization has gone on to be with his daughter Shala and my Granddaughter Daphne and all the other kids with cancer and their families he tried to help.  You can Google the organization and it will tell you his story and what they do.  He used to run in Ultra marathons to raise money.  He was scheduled to run in the Moab 240 later this year.  Each mile is dedicated to a child.  You can see Daphne’s story on mile 233 and Shala is always the last mile.     if you have a few dollars to spare please make a donation.  The work of 5he organization will continue but it will not be the same without Tom.   Well on a better note, I learned last night that I can attend the Salt Lake City gathering of the Presbyterian Church USA in Salt Lake City. As a guest of our minister.  If I can get there I am going to try to go.  I am just waiting to hear from my son to learn if there are blackout days around the date I need to be there.  And I realize the bigger issue could be getting home so I do have th weigh the risk against the opportunity.   Thank you all for your concerns and prayers regarding my wife’s recent back surgery and my concerns about my voice.  My wife is definitely on the mend.   well I guess I need to get a move on it is later that I realized.   Willow
