Am I transgender?

Hi I was wondering am I transgender.

I was born as a boy and my first thoughts on being/wanting to be a girl dates back to when I was about 4 years old.

As a young kid I had a quite long hair for a boy nothing girl-like but still long and I remember once my mom’s friend jokingly offered me to make me a dress and dress me up as a princess.

Since then I’ve had many dreams where I kinda was a girl and many times I’ve dressed in my mom’s clothes when I was alone at home and I also loved trying her makeup since I was about 7 or 8 years old.

I’ve never been attracted to boys, I’ve only been attracted to girls my whole life.

I’ve never told anyone about this.

The reason I loved behaving like a girl and looking like one was because I felt so pretty especially while having makeup on.

I remember my mom having some kind of makeup box with pretty much every possible colour of lipsticks, eyeshadow and other makeup products, and I remember how upset I was when she gave it away to our neighbour.

Since then I wished even more to be a women so that I would have long beautiful hair, hairless legs and arms, wide hips, be shorter/smaller in general, have nice breasts, pretty face, ability to wear feminine clothes such as crop tops, skirts, dresses, bras, lingerie and others, to wear makeup and to have a vagina.

If I was to magically wake up as a woman I think I would sexually be attracted to men but I would at find women prettier.

I don’t see myself as a member of LGBT community but I’m not a homophobic and I respect all members of LGBT community.

Any answer to am I transgender would be helpful.

Thanks.

You may be transgender. You may not. I can’t really answer this for you, only you would know that answer. Enjoying something that is associated with the other gender, is often an awaking for some people. Being trans doesnt affect your sexuality, if you like girls, you like girls, being trans wouldnt change that by the way. Just so you know. I think that you might want to look into some resources about being transgender because what you are described does sound like you may be. Again I can’t answer that, only you can.

one thing that helped me. (I’m afab) is thinking, do I want to be refered to as a man, do i want to have a more masculine name, am I uncomfortable being refered to as female, so you could take those and apply them to yourself, but vise versa asking yourself if you want to be referred to as a girl, if it would make you happy and comfortable etc.

hope that helped, feel free to ask more questions or just talk about stuff.

your friend,

-Zaiyn

A rule of thumb we have here on the Forums is that IF you have questions about your gender, you are NOT Cis gender, since that would never come up to a non Trans (Cis) person.  When we include Non-binary people with Trans it it looking like we are in the range of 2 to 5% of the U.S. Population.  Your best answer to the subject of what YOU are on the Trans Spectrum is to get into both counseling with a Therapist who is familiar with gender diversity and into a local support group at your local LGBTQ Center. What you describe about yourself fits the pattern that those of us who have had that support and are living in our True gender have experienced.  Only YOU however can give the definitive answer.

Hi @Njkst. while all the advice has been goo, I think that @VickySGVmade an absolutely essential point when she recommended counseling  and therapy. While I can only speak for myself, I can say categorically they have been not only helpful, but one of the bedrocks of my journey. I would suggest you find a therapist you trust and relate to.

Best wishes.

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).
