Very interesting.  Her description of her father, and the abuses she suffered, seem to fit his personality and would be familiar to many members here.  She seems like a well adjusted, bright and well spoken young lady, and I wish her all the best.

I knew he had a trans daughter that basically hated him.  That's not surprising.

That, and the idea that one of his exes dated Chelsea Manning really got to him.

Musk's narcisistic-meglamania just can't deal with it.

I admire her for coming out so publicly to defend herself after the Peterson interview.

I came across her Thread on the platform the other day. Nothing rang like news to me, it confirmed my suspicions. I feel for the woman, all the lies and mistreatment. To me, eMusk's reaction to Vivian is an elitist patriarchal one, he's feels like he's royal. A "king". His eldest living child gave up the patriarchal reigns, so to speak, and that is a "royal affront". eMusk feels "shame", because Vivian was to be an inheritor of the name and responsible for heading the family as he sees it.

 

Effectively, eMusk is so misogynist that he can't accept Vivian and has gone full manchild to try to avoid his own transphobic "shame".

I believe this at the heart of a lot of transphobia - and hostility - particularly towards trans women.  It's offensive and an indictment on the patriarchal society that a "man" would voluntarily give up their male privilege and prefer to live as a woman.  It's treasonous.  

In Atwood's Handmaid's Tale, we are considered "gender traitors", which I personally have no problem with.  On another website, I refer to myself as a "Traitor to the Patriarchy".

Thanks for sharing this. I didn't even realize Musk had a transgender daughter. I don't have an X account ;) The idea that he would turn on her and embrace these conspiratorial social contagion like views is deeply unsettling.

If the "gender traitor" thing is true, then why do "women" who give up femininity and prefer to live as male receive similar bad treatment?

 

Regardless, I think it mostly has to do with expectations. Human nature is to be upset when you receive something different than what you expected. You feel cheated. He expected a son, but got a daughter.  I can understand the feelings, but part of being an adult is accepting a truth about life: "You can't always get what you want."  (Thanks, Rolling Stones!)  I think wealthy people like Musk are so used to getting their way, they never fully absorb that truth.

 

I experienced a version of this.  My father wanted more sons, or at least maybe daughter who would fit his definitions. Instead, he got me.  From the beginning, I was unwanted.  Feeling unwanted suxx.  Hopefully Vivian can move on and live her own best life.

Vowing to "destroy the woke mind virus" isn't going to be simple, Elon.  First, "woke" isn't even a defined term, so it applies however and to whomever you want to apply it.  If it means "open to new ideas" and a left-leaning philosophy, he isn't even close to destroying people who roll that way.  Second, there is no woke virus and certainly trans people didn't get this way from a virus.  So, strike two.  What else ya got, Elon??

Musk is a piece of work. His child never asked for any of this. He has every resource to be a loving and supporting father, yet resorts to being a hate monger. I hope she goes on to great things despite her sperm donor.
