Hi! Just starting with this site. I have known since I was four years old I am not male but look male. We did not have the word or idea of transgender back then in rural NC. I started cross dressing with my sister and was immediately put into a closet by my mom who told me i would be killed if anyone found out. yeesh! I spent 50 hilarious years mucking up the local social matrix. my high school thought i was gay. i was NOT

Well that posted before i was through! to continue; I was not gay and knew it. but i knew something was up! then i became a hippie. then i learned to meditate. then i had a family. then i lost my family and came out. i have been solidly out for about two decades now. i am very comfortable being out but wonder if the current abuse by the gop is going to force me to moderate myself again.

I have a masters degree in art. i know how to make things. I spent 7 years making a trimaran from scratch with plans from new zealand.

I also visited hawaii and realized the spirit was much more comprehensive than i thought. i abandoned christianity and embraced a pagan stance. so i am a witch. actually i knew i was a witch when i was a child also. i told my mom and she said; "you mean warlock." i said no. a witch. there were no warlocks. and i was right! in my research warlock was the name of a witch killer. oh well!

anyway due to horrific christian encounters i abandoned all religion including pagan religious leanings. so i am a hedge witch if that makes sense. i have a lot of goddess, fairy and spirit friends. but no worshiping here! my friends would be offended if i put them on a pedastle like that! i have noticed that some lgbtq are finding certain christian venues that support them but for me i just wan to  be free of the supplication.

Today i am fortunate enough to own my own home. I have retired from the graphics arts business finally. i have written 6 books and working on number 7! one of my books is about a transgender m2f and her encounters post climate change.

I am full of joy everyday! i exercise, sew, paint, sculpt in foam, research medicals and other intriguing things. I'm looking forward to meeting people on this site.

love from Mia!

Nice to meet you Mia, and Welcome!  Your story is very similar to mine, and many others here.  I hope you have found a Home and Community with us.  Look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome Mia.  It is lovely and so peaceful to be out of hiding despite the current political pressure.  I think many of us have an artist inclination.  I designed and then built homes and residential conversions.  Despite being in hiding during the majority of my career the two aspects of the work seemed to fit.  Afterwards i worked in oils and watercolors showing locally.  Today i've retired to the farm where i live happily myself with my wife of 53 years.  I love hopping in the dump truck and traveling out to get grain or supplies for the farm.

We can support each other here as society tries to get us back into that painful closet.

Hugs,

Charlize

lots of forces breaking upon our shores. but once broken there is no more. like so many gentle things folks do not realize what they are doing when they hate or feel disgusted. without transfolk, human beings are indeed lost. just ask the navajo! :)
