This seems like just rewording the old guidelines into something slightly more palatable.  The "animus" hasn't gone away, and I don't think Judge Reyes is going to find these guidelines any more palatable.

I will be pleasantly surprised if the courts actually do stop this stuff.  I expect the new regime to defy the courts if they need to.  Who's going to stop them?

And it's still almost 2 years till the midterms.  Even if some of the congress is voted out a lot can happen in that time.

They're arguing they're not targeting trans people, just people who have or have ever had gender dysphoria. Really? Draw a Venn diagram. One circle is trans people, another circle is those with a diagnosis of g.d. The intersection is nonempty. So is the section containing trans ppl who never had g.d., albeit much much much smaller. But the section containing ppl with g.d. who aren't trans? Although... imagining such an assessment became mandatory for all military personnel (talk about a waste of resources), my guess is it would reveal more about the spectrum of gender incongruence than they bargained for. Just sayin.

Exactly.  This was the rationale used to prohibit LGBTQ+ people from the military in the first place, back in the last century.  They said it wasn't being gay itself that made you ineligible, it was the fact that you had to hide it, thus making you vulnerable to foreign blackmail.  And of course, the reason they had to hide it was because they'd boot you out if they found out.  Total circular reasoning.

The way things are going, this country won't be recognizable in two years, nor will we have a Constitution that means a damn.  The admin is already trying to impeach any judge that dares disagree with him.
