I saw Soldier's Girl and enjoyed it very much. I can't recall the name of the actor, but I

thought he did a wonderful job of portraying the transwoman.

I missed all of those but what about "The Crying Game", "Normal" or "TransAmerica"?

Or for something a little odd, "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" or "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar". (These are more about Drag Queens but show them as real people rather than just caricatures.)

Love ya,

Oh and another great film was Boys Don't Cry, true story about an FTM. Very harrowing yet very honest in it's portrayl of what life can be like.

I haven't seen any of those, but I've heard a lot about Soldier's girl. So I googled it to find out more. Lee Pace plays Calpernia and I found a lot of comments about transwomen being played by non-TG men, and these roles still going to actors outside the TG community. But it (the movie) sounds like it's exceptionally tragic, so I'm not sure I want to watch it.

I have recently seen a film called "Another Woman" and it is played by a transwoman--Nathalie Mann. It came out in 2002.

I saw Soldier's Girl. It almost had me crying at the end (hey, I'm an emotional guy :) ) Wasn't it based on a true story or something?

Yes Soldier's Girl is a true story, I have the dvd & there are interveiws with the real Calpernia & the real soldier's parents in the bonus material. The last singing performance of Calpernia in the movie interlaced with the brutal murder is just incredibly beautiful & moving! Even if you seperated that performance from the movie entirely, it will move you to tears!

I do recommend "Another Woman", it is about a doctor who goes to Africa, disappears leaving her wife and two children to wonder what happened to him, it deals with life after srs, being stealth and having to out yourself in order to have contact with your children again. This movie is a foreign language film and has sub titles.

Ma vie en rose maeks me cry! Everytime when it gets to the part where she tries to kill herself the parents say she can have anything, she wants to wear a skirt and they get peed at her right after she pit herself in the freezer! OMG! :'(

it is a good movie tho!

Surprised no one has mentioned 'A Girl Like Me - The Gwen Araujo Story' which airs occasionally on Lifetime.

I really enjoyed and appreciated 'Ma Vie En Rose'. Poor Ludovic, so certain that any moment, God was going to correct this huge mistake played on her by replacing her male body with the female body she knew was hers by birthright.

A really must add Rent. All the characters are named according to the role they play in the plot. The character who is the group's saving grace is named appropriately "Angel," and is very definitely transgendered. Make sure you have a full box of tissues, because the movie does very seriously tug at the heart strings.

I've seen some of the movies y'all named. My addition is not a perfect fit to the topic, but in the ballpark. I absolutely loved "Holiday Heart" Ving Rhames is an amazing actor!!

I'm a big fan of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (both play and film) and both the book and film The World According To Garp (more the book, though...I read it when I was 11 and it was the first time I had ever heard of a transsexual and I just knew...)

I recently caught Breakfast on Pluto, and so far its easily my favorite of the trans related movies I've seen. It doesn't do much to "educate" you about the condition as it just kind of happens that the main character, Saint Kitten as she likes to be called, is transgendered.

What I liked about it was the spirit of the movie. Its a bit of an epic in its own way, and its full of drama, adventure, mystery and good humor. Unlike so many T dramas, it left me smiling and feeling uplifted. I was pretty surprised by it, honestly.

Oh, and personally I would add the vampire film Let the Right One In to this category as well. Other people have had other interpretations, but its pretty easy to see it that story in this context. Its a brilliant movie and kind of a twisted but beautiful love story too. I really liked it.

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).
