What Should I Purchase? :d

So I'm going clothes shopping soon with some guy friends who are uber supportive of me :D

The only thing is, I get the money from my parents, so they like to SEE what I get.

Now I want to get more, you know, male clothing, but at the same time, I don't want it to turn into a coming out fiasco. Though my friends would def take me in if anything bad happens. I need to def get some pants, and shirts. But I'd also like some androgyny clothing, so I can push it either way.

Any suggestions? Or at least cover ups if I decide to get full male clothes?

Sincerely

Quinn, the now confused shopper amongst all other things.

Most folks won't be able to tell if the jeans/pants you buy are actually from the womens department. And get some pantyhose for those cold wintery days. Or if you have to, go to Activskin and get mens hosiery. :D

Quinn,

I was mislead by the title of your topic and did a little research about what schools would be good to purchase and had decided that you should go for a College with the eye toward the Ivy Leagues for prestige, but there are a lot of independent, private colleges available.

The I saw it was about clothing so the idea of jeans/pants from the womens department is very good - you pretty much have to read the label in a quick, "let's see what you bought" session i doubt that it would be noticed.

Only tee shirts will work because women's shirts button the opposite direction and it will seep in after a little bit - but they never notice the pants - people tend not to stare at you pants so much.

Love ya,

Sally

Thanks guys :D I am really excited/kind of scared. It's like a whole new step. One of those ones that that you're excited for and scared for at the same time.

I know I am going to feel so much more comfortable when I go to school. I have a good feeling.

Would compression shirts from like a sporting goods store work well for binding? I have a DIY binding device made from an old girdle and it does fairly well, it's just not as good as I'd like. I'm fairly small chested, a B, like JUST a B. so I thought if I wore a tight sportsbra and a compression shirt I could get almost perfectly flat.

Any suggestions?

Again, thanks for being so helpful :D

Quinn.

Hey Quinn, the other two posters who replied are ladies, so I figured I'd help you out on the binding front, lol. Under-armor type shirts work okay to compress if you get a small enough size, and if it's all you can get. I see that you're fairly small chested, so it might get you as flat as you want. If that doesn't work, I would say try a real binder from Underworks/T-Kingdom. I'm a B cup too, and their tri-top gives me a very masculine chest. Remember, you don't want to be flat as a board, because guys don't look like that. You want to have pecs, so having a little bulge up there won't "out" you.

As for the clothes, pretty much if you want to stay slightly masculine/androgyne, you can't go wrong with regular old t-shirts, hoodies, and jeans. No one can usually tell where those come from because everyone wears them. If you want to pick up a few button-up men's shirts, your folks might not notice that they are particularly manly if they fit you well. But you'll know that they're mens shirts, and the buttons will be on the other side, so maybe that will work for you. Hope some of this helped!

Thanks! I actually don't own any hoodies, so investing in one would be good. I also have wayy too many girl fitting t-shirts so I'll definitely go get some more neutral ones. At this point I'm kinda like 'to hell with my parents' so I think I'm just gonna go out there and buy what I like and what makes me happy. They'll have to find out eventually! Right?

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE SUGGESTIONS

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
