Who Is Your Favorite Movie Martial Artist?

Jackie Chan.

All his stunts are real, his kong fu is amazing, and is the closest thing I have to an idol.

Not to mention he's a "kickass" actor.

Definitely David Belle, founder of parkour! District B13 is what inspired me to start doing parkour! (look it up on google if you don't know what it is)

Jason Statham vs Jet Li for the win!

That would definitely be an interesting one to watch. Transporter 3 was incredible. The Forbidden Kingdom was side-splittingly hilarious. :D

I know I posted here already, but I wanted to add, for those of you saying Jackie Chan... I re-watched a documentary called "How Brus Lee Changed the World"... and when talking to Jackie Chan, he said Bruce Lee was the greatest of all time, and lots of people on there including Mr Chan, said without him, we may not even have movies like the matrix, and other martial arts movies here in the states. A lot of the martial artists in movies today may not have ever had a movie career if it wasn't for Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee probably did more for martial arts in the western world than anybody. I love the art of the movements but I have a hard time with the violence of most of the movies.

Jackie Chan has brought humor, silliness, and humility into the mix and so I like most of his stuff and really do not tend to watch the others anymore because they tend to remind me of who I am working hard to not be. Some of Jackie’s old movies are now being released on DVD with subtitles because they are in Chinese.

Bruce Lee Worked so hard to bring believable fight sequences into Martial Arts films and to lose the filming of people leaping over each other, doing somersaults in mid air and landing several meters away - just by not filming the trampolines or small catapults used to launch them.

Sadly now with all of the Special Effects over content movies we are back to levitating people and impossible movements that it seems that his legacy is already forgotten - Jackie Chan is the only one I know of following in his footsteps which unfortunately lead him into numerous injuries.

Love ya,

Sally

Jean-Claude Van Damme, and might as well go for Jackie Chan too! XD

I was just going to put in a shout for Van Damme. He has another Universal Soldier film coming out this year apparently. I think Kickboxer is my favourite of his though.

Clark Gable.

And, yeah, technically he wasn't a "martial artist." In fact, he never learned martial arts in any way or shapeless form. But he's still Clark Gable. So that means he's the default best at anything, no matter what genre it is.

Ya Jackie Chan worked as a stunt fighter against Bruce when Jackie got his start. He said Bruce hit him one time, and was so concerned with him being ok ...Bruce Lee..a class act.

#1 - Jet Li - Not only is he a real kick to watch (hah, pun intended) . . holy hell, he actually blends into the roles rather nicely. Fearless, Expendables, and . . the one where he has the collar that makes him docile when it's on (ack, bad memory strikes again!!)

#2 - Jackie Chan - Real nice guy in person and actually would be tied with Jet Li. He's actually more entertaining to watch, but, he doesn't blend into his roles quite as well. THEN AGAIN, I admit to not having seen enough of his movies.

#3 - Bruce Li - You just know somebody's in trouble when he walks on screen. Nothing really complex here, he's a favorite of mine.

Jackie Chan is brilliantly hilarious, but I think sometimes his humorous take on everything makes it hard for me to take the films seriously.

I have a great deal of respect for how far Steven Segal got with his skill - I believe he is one of only a handful of people in the world who has made it as far As he has (aikido?)

I like chuck Norris because he is a real conservative as well but I also like Angelina Jolie who has an advanced belt in something like taikwondo.

Bruce Lee closely followed by Chuck Norris. The classic fight seen they had with each other in"Return of the Dragon" is an all time classic, with Norris playing the villain in collesium in Rome.

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!

Welcome Violet.  It's been awhile since i found this space with so many who understand the struggle to simply be ourselves in a society that often disapproves,  It isn't an easy path but being together we can share all the bumps and the joys. You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I'm sorry it didn't work out for the new job. Nothing to keep you from being on the search. I had a coworker who used to walk out of the locker room saying; "I was looking for a job with I found this one and I'll keep searching for the next one. Never let them think you're comfortable and settled."   The coffee has just finished brewing, and we have a HVAC technician coming in about 30 minutes to do an annual system check.   It's time to get out of my Pj's.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Sally Stone, I have enjoyed reading this thread immensely. There certainly are some things in it that I can relate to, particularly when you wrote that "I wasn’t a man trapped in a woman’s body." This simple statement confirmed two things for me; I am not an imposter here, and I could end up much further along the path than what I imagine now.   I very much look forward to your future posts here.   I hope that by posing this question I'm not committing you to spoil future posts, but can I ask, why you have settled on Bigender as a label? I keep changing my label and have no idea what it might be tomorrow or next week or next month!

This whole Cass Review thing is breaking my heart. I keep imagining how it must be to be a trans kid in the UK atm. I am halfway through reading the review so that I can effectively refute it if and when people cite it here in Australia.

One thing I took on board from a former boss who was an absolute gentleman and fluent conversationalist but a hopeless leader because he was the classic yes man to his superiors, was to take the emotion out of the equation when arguing. Don't use hyperbole. Don't exaggerate. Stick to what you know and defeat your adversary with logic. Of course, your adversary will double down and make an even bigger fool of themselves, and not even realize that they have lost the argument, nor will they realize that people are laughing at them and not with them. It also helps if you can separate them from their minions.   A conservative elderly uncle, who left school at the age of 12, swears black and blue that taking Ivermectin (sheep dip) prevents Covid because he knew someone who knew someone else who took it and despite that person being momentarily in close contact with people who had Covid, didn't come down with it. "Well, you're the one with the science degree!" I said.   A lot of people argue out of ignorance. They base their points on populism and rumor. I rarely argue, but when I do, it is in an attempt to push back. Another favorite saying that I use is "Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools and believed by idiots." I then ask, "Which two are you?" 😉

Good morning, all!!! Cloudy today with some light rain coming. Not a day to work outside.   I will vacuum the house and the head out to our local hardware store after I get cleaned up. Time to buy a new bird feeder for the back porch.   I'm sorry the job didn't work @KymmieL! Hang in there.   It sounds like a busy time for you at work @Willow. Finding reliable people is so hard these days.   Time for another cup of coffee before I start cleaning!!   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
