Hey y'all!!

I'm new here, but figured I'd stick my nose in and talk about my musical interests too!! I play keyboards, guitar, fiddle (that's a violin for y'all that ain't from around here!! lol) and I'm workin on learnin the sax. I used to sing, a loooooong time ago. I haven't had much opportunity to do that in recent years, but when I was a teenager, I was in a band and also sang at several local clubs. I still have many of my old recordings and I put one of 'em up online if anyone wants to take a listen. Hope ya like it!! It's one of my all time favorite songs. My family was originally from the Forks of the Yadkin. Anothe line was from Cape Fear - early 1800s though probaqbly before your time... grin

My US family comes from the northeast, the other side is from europe. I have lines going back to the Carpathian Mountains area. Mebbe explains the vampire in me!! LOL

I listened to the recording and I have to say, I actually liked it better than Roberta Flack's recording (for you youngsters she made the hit recording and I believe that she even wrote it)

I am a trumpet player myself with a breif (14 year) career as a String Bass player in orchestras, dabble with keyboards and played drims until I sold my set and never could afford a Marimba or vibraphone but I learned them well enough to play a four mallet piece for my percussion jury (final exam in instrumental lessons) in college.

i play the guitar and bass, and i mess around with the drums alittle.

i want to learn the flute from one of my friends, mainly because i loved mr. tumnus's song from chronicles of narnia.

once i get a computer again (using a ps3) i'll have to listen to the recordings.

I play synth/keyboard. I've been writing my own songs for awhile now too. I like '80s style synthpop like Depeche Mode, OMD, and A-ha. I hope to one day have my own band, atleast to play with... it would alot more fun to be around other people with similar interests. Just wish I could meet others like me It's really difficult.

That's how I used to be with the piano. I started when I was very young. Then there were some things that happened that made me never want to play again. I am more into the guitar now than anything, but I don't have one of my own anymore. I'm working on that problem though

Acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals. The guitar hasn't agreed with my long nails being on both hands so I (in tears) picked my nails over guitar. Plus that with me would totally come off as a dikey overkill.

I play guitar and bass - though I am a much better guitarrist than bass player. Unfortunately, where I live it is hard to find the right musicians to play with. I am a punk guitarrist who knows what they are doing and just do not have it in me to play covers note for note - which is what the vast majority of musicians around here do. I have a band, but when our last bass player quit in September, it took us until now to replace him - most of the musicians that can handle the style around here don't have the chops, the ones with the chops, don't understand the style... grrrr... but our new bass player finally fits the bill... hopefully... I'll find out at practice on Tuesday

I've played the koto (Google it) for something like four years now, and I play the ocarina a little. I've recently started playing around with synths, since I'm taking a MIDI technology class, but I'm not really jiving with the musical keyboard input yet, so that'll take some more work. Koto is really my main thing, though...I take a noncredit class every semester for it, and we do a few concerts in the area.

I don't know if I'll ever play a traditional instrument, since I have no idea how to even begin to make heads or tails of sheet music. >.> Pathetic, right?

I'm a somewhat impatient person when it comes to anything to do with myself. Which means if I'm not up to a standard I'd like myself to be at by the end of one hour of playing I say "Arhh forget it!" put the guitar down and don't pick it up for a year or so.....
