I saw 2012 last night with a couple of friends. I'm personally not a believer in the 2012 idea, so I thought this movie was going to be horrible. It looked good on the commercials, but I didn't think it was going to be more than an action movie (action is great..drama/storyline/messages are the greatest, once again in my opinion :P).

Now..when I saw it, I cried almost 4 times! 1 time i was shaking my head trying to not cry. It was soo amazing. It had it's happy parts, sad parts, parts that made you furious, and parts that made you laugh soo hard. Infact, i give it 4.8/5 stars. The only thing i did not like were the "coincidence" last minute escapes. There were too many of them, although a couple were misleading :P. This movie teaches you about human compassion, and what it is like to truly care for other people. It was amazing, the 2012 idea was just the backdrop/trigger that caused all that emotion to happen. Man..it was definately one of the sadest movies I have ever seen..some of those tearful goodbyes between family members almost had me =(.

Like I always say, if a movie can make you cry , it has to be good!

Hi Chelsy,

Although I do not buy into the 12,21,2012 doomsday prophesy, I find it interesting the compelling urgency of people to be real with one another. I look forward to the day when we can truely be ourselves, without fear.... hopefully.... 12,22,2012

Sounds like an awesome movie!!! I should go and see it :)

Love

:P I hope he will enjoy it if he goes Crow. Whether your a believer in the prophecy or not, it was an amazing movie. It is for sure one of my top 5 fav movies! Passchundale, The Dark Knight, Gran Torino, 2012 are all amazing movies..so was rise of the lycans (so sad!)

Ohh rosey, infact at first I thought that the only good thing about the movie would be the special effects. Well, not only were the effects better than what i assumed them to be, but the movie had a great story/message to go with it! :). But yeah..that was 4 sure one expensive movie to produce =s

Thanks for speaking about it. I've been curious about this movie, and I want to see it, but just never quite committed. I'll make sure to check it out. I mean it digitally looked stunning, but wasn't quite so sure what the storyline could offer if there was going to be a lot of death and destruction.

Oh CJwar, you will love it :). I felt the same way before and after omg :) my mind completely changed! Like I said, there were a few too many cheesy-last-minute-indiana jones-like-escapes (once again, one of my words :P), but besides that it was perfect.

12-21-2012 is the end of a Myan cycle. Yes bad things did tend to happen on the ends of cycles; as to why the calendar never continued, maybe the Myans were wiped out before they could continue it. Recent archeological work has show that the Myans lost influence partly through their own fault, it was ecological colapse that started the decline. Their own religeous beliefs hastened it with the increase in sacrifices to bring back the pleasure of the gods.

Ren, I will see you online 12-22-2012 and we can celebrate the new cycle

Maybe on the 20th we should ask some of our Aussie and Kiwi members if the world has ended :P

I'd like to see it, too....

Looks really cool from the trailer...

But I don't put too much stock in the Mayans....

Heck 2012 wasn't the end for them.....

So, what do they know? They're already gone!

Huggs..

Donna Jean......LOL!

The Myans of the Classical period (the time of the great cities) might be gone but as a race they still exist. They are one of the many indigenous tribes of Mexico and the surrounding area.

You know, you were right. I was amazed about how good this movie was. Do I think this could possibly happen? I dunno...if it does...then bye bye school loans. But if not..then oh well. I think it's happy and sad all at once nearing the end. But good movie. Thanks for sharing this Chelsy, cause I was certainly planning to overlook it. You know..let it wait in my netflix que until 2012 actually rolled around...and then surprise...it's the same day of the movie's end date. Anyway...

lol

Thanks.

I just saw this movie today. Pretty awesome. Special effects were pretty top-notch. I also didnt like all the last minute escapes, way to predictable, but overall the movie was good, and it carried a moral.

i dont personally buy into the 2012 theory, so when 12.22.12 rolls around expect me to say "the world ended yesterday." laugh.gif

.

I watched it....lots of fun and edge of your seat action....

But, I'll not worry too much, because if you have a 3 year car payment, the banks won't let the world end until it's all paid off!....LOL

I thought it was Ok, nothing memorable though. Just like a greatest hits package of the disaster genre.

Dec 21 is my parents anniversary. Infact, Dec 23 2012, the alternate date believed by some experts, is my 24th. Would be one hell of an end of the world party lol.

That's me too, Mae.  I don't think it's me as much as it is the camera (that's my story anyway).  Cameras hate me.  I never met one that liked me.  I often wish I was photogenic; sadly, not so much.   However, you look terrific in that selfie!

April, I'm so glad things went well when you came out to your spouse.  So often, things can go sideways.  It's a hurdle we all have to jump at some point.

Dickey Betts, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the Allman Brothers Band whose piercing solos, beloved songs and hell-raising spirit defined the band and Southern rock in general, died Thursday morning 04/18/2024 at the age of 80. Rest in peace...

What an amazing life you've shared with your wife. I can understand the trepidation you had at telling her at that point in your relationship but it certainly saved all of the guilt, the questioning and the secrecy that would have filled your lives had you not.   I'm on the other end of the spectrum having denied and buried my truth for decades and fast approaching 50 years of marriage when the dysphoria and depression finally came to critical mass and I unloaded it all on a New Year's Day morning. As you might imagine, it led to a lot of questions, of questioning everything, of anger and hurt on my wife's part. Guilt, embarrassment, fear...and anything else you can imagine on my part.   Thankfully, our love for each other has always been the foundation of our relationship and, ultimately, we both agreed that staying together was what we both wanted. It was a tough year but, now into the 2d since my coming out, we've hit our stride and are exploring this new norm in our life.   I do so love your blog.

I thought I would try my version of this. Changes in bold.   I am Transgender.  Sometimes it is remote, sometimes close. Sometimes I am euphoric, sometimes depressed. It is something I cannot get away from and cannot welcome enough. I see some things both ways that neither men as men see or women as women see.  I can be gentle and compassionate and hard as nails. I was born with male genitals but a female heart   I have my heart.  Whatever it is. When I look at a female, I wish I looked like her  Depends on the woman.  When I look at a male, I wish I did not look like him   Ditto. I envy female movements, softness, behaviors, appearances, fashion...EVERYTHING Female Depends. Sometimes I get angry at them because women spend time and energy in ways men don't.  It is not necessarily bad.  I could do without the gossip. Not all women gossip.  Excessive focus on fashion is something I find annoying. And expensive. I tolerate all things male out of social obligation...not because I feel like a man or because it makes me happy....but because that's what I was forced to believe was my only choice....beginning in early childhood. Sometimes it is helpful to put on the Iron Man suit and act accordingly.  But I have seen some tough women. When I look at myself in the mirror in only bra and panties...I can see my nude female body...and it makes me smile and feel amazing and warm inside....yet sad because that is not my reality. I could go either way, mostly. Really.  In tests in the last two years technicians have gone really quiet when they see how little body and leg hair I have.  I looked at myself this morning.  Remove a few clues and a girl is standing there. When I look at myself in the mirror in only boxers...I can see my nude male body and it saddens me deeply and makes me feel sick and depressed...and at times...even ashamed....Because this IS my reality. At this point I am not going to do that. In the mood I am in I might break the mirror. My true gender does not influence my sexual interests or preferences...or change who I am....in any form or fashion. Gender identity is in no way connected to anything sexually related on any level.  Not sure I want to make that statement so categorically. Life as a male leaves me with a feeling that something is off...that something is missing...that something is not as it should have been.   Well put. The idea of having to continue living as a male...as someone I am not...for the rest of my life...even if its only part time...causes great sadness and anxiety within myself. I've got priorities beyond this that this must fit into. The idea of living as the girl I am and always have been on a full time basis...regardless of where I am, what I am doing or who I am around...brings me great joy, happiness and a sense of peace within myself.  Would be neat. Looking like and living as a girl makes me smile.   Would be neat.  There are downsides.  Looking like and living as a guy makes me sad.   I have had lots of practice accepting this. I am Transgender....I am a girl
