OK, so I'm sure that all of you know I'm a pirate. ARRRRRR!

I have been watching movies just about every day, but I want to watch more movies about transgendered people. I prefer movies about transsexuals, but I'll watch anything.

So! What are some good movies about transgendered people? I've seen Boys Don't Cry and Hedwig and the Angry Inch so far. What else is out there???

Pricilla, Queen of the desert

Transamerica

One I have seen however and really enjoyed was Kinky Boots!

Seems like most of them don't have very good endings..like Boys Dont Cry.

Soldiers Girl was good until the end.

Better than Chocolate has a trans character in it.

Seems like there was a topic that had a pretty long list of movies on here somewhere already.

I don't know if you can find it, but if you ever get the chance to watch "Medical Center" The Fourth Sex: " (1975) give it a shot. It was a TV series and aired while I was home on leave. I remember watching it in excitement thinking, "Man, if only I could do that!" But I couldn't show my excitement since Mom and Dad were both watching it as well. My Dad was hell bent on his boys being boys.

But I was disappointed with the ending. Seeing Robert Reed as the female bothered me because he didn't look natural. I was already large and knew that if nothing could be done with the face, I would be an ugly woman. It was hard enough just being a large insecure male. I knew I couldn't handle a sex change.

However, today's procedures seem to be so much better. God Bless Technology but more importantly, God Bless those who paved the way.

Thank uyou Dawn, I was telling someone about this episode a while back and I could not remember the name of the series - I clearly remembered that episode and its title.

Do you remember the episode name about the intersexed boy who was having health issues and had to be made one sex or the other and his parents had to choose?

I saw the last half of it once and it left me very confused.

Love ya,

Sally

The film kinky boots was set in my home town ;) . I watched it and to be honest I found it dull but maybe because I had a boring day and watching a film just sent me to sleep.

A few others that may be of interest if you'll accept CD'ing as against trans-sexual films.

How about St. Trinians, both the old lack and white versions with Alistair Sim as the Headmistress or the new versions with Rupert Everett.

I actually have seen Transamerica, I watched it with my mom, just as a regular movie since I wasn't involved with anything trans related at the time. I think it was good for my mom especially, since soon afterwards she had a coworker transition mtf. But even beyond that, it was just a good movie. =)

I rented Hedwig the other day, but I burnt it and haven't had a chance to watch it. I heard it's good.

It's very good, especially if you like punk rock.

How about the following -

'To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar'

Victor/Victoria

Ma Vie En Rose

Ready? Ok.

A Girl Like Me. Gwen Arujo Story.

Some Like It Hot

Good-bye Charlie

Switch

The last two were very mainline movies with 'magical' transformations that were both daring and extremely tame for their times. That gender switching was even being considered in movies of that type was amazing.

Stage Beauty is a film about someone questioning their gender identity in the background of a really awesome film. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368658/

Zerophilia is a funny, not-trans-per-se film that has one hell of a lot of gender switching in it. Quite interesting when viewed from the 'gender is a spectrum' viewpoint, but it's about as intellectual as you decide to make it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421090/

Better than chocolate... Is the trans character an important character? I don't care so much if he or she is hardly on-screen.

I saw Normal when it came out. It was actually how I learned what transexuality was! I remember watching it with my mom. I was... 12. Hmm. I remembered it the other day and meant to post it here, but forgot, I'm glad Carolyn did. I need to see it again though, I don't remember it too well. I liked it a lot at the time though.

The trans character is one of the four main characters. It is mainly a film about lesbians, but the trans character has a song that you are sure to get a laugh out of.

Hi Sally,

Sorry it's taken so long to respond. I don't remember the show you are talking about, but I do remember some show (real life) where a botched circumcision on a baby boy destroyed most of his penis, so the doctors and parents decided on making and raising him as a girl and it didn't work. She(He) knew deep down that he should have been male. So that blows the argument that upbringing makes a difference.

If you ever do find out the name of the movie you're talking about, let me know, I'd love to see it.

When I went to look for it on the site I usually get my torrents from, a TS porn site popped up. How revolting!

Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting and disgusting thing and I thought I should share it.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @violet r   I think we all were scared with our first post here on TPF. I hope you come to find this site as welcoming as an old friend. Not knowing the type of retail you're in, it is hard to know how they will react to your coming out. I would hope that if it's part of a larger corporation they may have corporate policies supporting/protecting you once you decide to come out publicly. No one here will rush you, or try to slow you down, once you've decided to come out. Some of us are secret sisters, and others of us are as flamboyant as they come. The cool this is you get to choose. You be you.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!

Welcome Violet.  It's been awhile since i found this space with so many who understand the struggle to simply be ourselves in a society that often disapproves,  It isn't an easy path but being together we can share all the bumps and the joys. You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I'm sorry it didn't work out for the new job. Nothing to keep you from being on the search. I had a coworker who used to walk out of the locker room saying; "I was looking for a job with I found this one and I'll keep searching for the next one. Never let them think you're comfortable and settled."   The coffee has just finished brewing, and we have a HVAC technician coming in about 30 minutes to do an annual system check.   It's time to get out of my Pj's.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Sally Stone, I have enjoyed reading this thread immensely. There certainly are some things in it that I can relate to, particularly when you wrote that "I wasn’t a man trapped in a woman’s body." This simple statement confirmed two things for me; I am not an imposter here, and I could end up much further along the path than what I imagine now.   I very much look forward to your future posts here.   I hope that by posing this question I'm not committing you to spoil future posts, but can I ask, why you have settled on Bigender as a label? I keep changing my label and have no idea what it might be tomorrow or next week or next month!

This whole Cass Review thing is breaking my heart. I keep imagining how it must be to be a trans kid in the UK atm. I am halfway through reading the review so that I can effectively refute it if and when people cite it here in Australia.

One thing I took on board from a former boss who was an absolute gentleman and fluent conversationalist but a hopeless leader because he was the classic yes man to his superiors, was to take the emotion out of the equation when arguing. Don't use hyperbole. Don't exaggerate. Stick to what you know and defeat your adversary with logic. Of course, your adversary will double down and make an even bigger fool of themselves, and not even realize that they have lost the argument, nor will they realize that people are laughing at them and not with them. It also helps if you can separate them from their minions.   A conservative elderly uncle, who left school at the age of 12, swears black and blue that taking Ivermectin (sheep dip) prevents Covid because he knew someone who knew someone else who took it and despite that person being momentarily in close contact with people who had Covid, didn't come down with it. "Well, you're the one with the science degree!" I said.   A lot of people argue out of ignorance. They base their points on populism and rumor. I rarely argue, but when I do, it is in an attempt to push back. Another favorite saying that I use is "Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools and believed by idiots." I then ask, "Which two are you?" 😉

Good morning, all!!! Cloudy today with some light rain coming. Not a day to work outside.   I will vacuum the house and the head out to our local hardware store after I get cleaned up. Time to buy a new bird feeder for the back porch.   I'm sorry the job didn't work @KymmieL! Hang in there.   It sounds like a busy time for you at work @Willow. Finding reliable people is so hard these days.   Time for another cup of coffee before I start cleaning!!   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
