Anachronism

Anachronism

I awake to a world of computers and machines each day

And the feeling that something is wrong comes my way

I walk through this world in a bit of a haze

And deal with modern things in sort of a daze

Never feeling that I do belong in this time

I show this by writing poetry with a rhyme

The time of Shakespeare would much better suit my sensibilites

If only they would have maintained better sanitation abilities

The days of knights and chilvary are in the far distant past

How I long for the return of such honor and loyalty at last

The West may have been wild but it had a code

Now out of control in full free falling mode

Everyday we seem to lose a bit more of our dwindling humanity

I am often so very disheartened by all that I am forced to see

Mans inhumanity to man is displayed in his use of advanced technology

To the end of greater destruction instead of improving life in the sea

As we slowly destroy our planet and ourselves I am left to ponder

How those cowboys felt when they saw all of those fences yonder

Did just one knight stop to think that as that last dragon fell

By killing it he was in effect killing his way of life as well

We pollute the oceans the land and the clouds for monetary gains

No one has the good sense to say stop and pull back on the reigns

But the world is resilient and a different species will dominate before long

Humans will be the anachronisms and the planet will right what we did wrong

So I remain a person distant from the realities of our time

Always watching and trying so hard to make reason and rhyme

Of a world that once seemed to be destined for such great things

Brought down by greed and a need to grab all of the shiny rings

Competition is touted as the way to improve and never drop the ball

When cooperation is really the only way to make life better for all

I feel as though I have watched this world spinning out of control

Century after century as all of our blunders take a terrible toll

I sometimes feel that I alone can see this simple truth of how things should be

For as long as one person is being repressed then no one can ever be truly free

ummmmm Sally?

Another gemstone in your crown!

If only they would have maintained better sanitation abilities

Your humor has returned as well!

Good writing - I liked it.

.

Here's my favorite part, Sally...

(We talked about this earlier...)

Did just one knight stop to think that as that last dragon fell

By killing it he was in effect killing his way of life as well

Brilliant!

Lets say that again.

The lines Donna Jean quoted really got me, too.

Once more for good luck

Love it to the nth degree!

Ver well done, Sally. Lots of interesting thoughts there.

The Universe has a way of evening things out over time. For every gain there is a loss,

for every step forward, a step back.

Some argue that the invention of agriculture was the beginning of the fall out of Eden. But then,

would written language, art, architecture, and science have been possible without it?

All that we are, good and bad, is built on all that was. Who is to say what the final judgment

should be? Perhaps the cockroaches, who will outlive us all. <_<

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P
    • Abigail Genevieve
      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

      I think I lost a friend :(

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
