Inches Are Measured In Miles

Find myself

Standing upon

The edge of time

Wondering

How I got here.

Almost fearing

The answer

Which I already know

Will be given to me.

Knowing

It’s too late

For any hastily retreat

Into my protective shell

Again.

No matter

How much

I crave

This false sense of security

Which it has provided

In the past.

Sigh

Feel like a civilian

Caught in the middle

Of a very deadly warzone

With no escape lane

Opening up

For me.

Am so tired

Of this

And the pain

I endure daily.

Except the peace

I seek

Seems so faraway

From my trembling hands

To grab hold of.

Nice poem!laugh.gif

I don't have such an artistic streak. unsure.gif Wish I had, but I don't

(Off topic)

Inches? Miles?

Sorry, miss, but I'm strictly metric. All based of multple of ten, much easier.

What was it? A foot is eleven, or twelve inches?

Ma-head-a-spinnin, everyone has an artistic streak, within themselves. Just to be patient and have faith with yourself, while stop being so self-critical of your effect. As your comments about the imperial system, I am, the wrong person to ask, as like you, I was raised on the Metric system, too. Do know that 12 inches = 1 foot, but beyond that, I am lost. Thanks for your comment on this poem. It should have read, "When Inches are Measured In Miles". Part of the joys, which my learning disability gives me.

'Learning disability'? It hardly seems a disabilty, more like a gift.

And a gift really is something to treasure.

Catchy name :) "Inches Are Measured In Miles"

Try and remember that straight line geometry doesn't really work in a curved universe

I wish. For me, school was hard, because I struggled, daily, with my various LDs. There were exams, that I had to dicate to my protoctor teacher, because I could not write my answer out in the exam books. Just glad those days are long over for me.

Ouch, that hurts. A hell of a lot of people here, had problems just like mine.

I sympathise, even tough I think it's of little consequence, by this time.

School was hard for me, 'cause I was always the odd one out. *** do I hate those bullies.

I taught my teachers usually. Mundane.

Til university studies - and I never wanted to leave.

But LD I had not. More a duality of spirit and nature that confused.

Not typical - even here on Laura's - I do as I best can

And yet your poerty outrules all that

So masterful!

Therisa, I become awed seldom, but you do that for me.

PLEASE do not destroy your genius through the madness of life.

Persevere and be what you are - of great value

Enough said

Elizabeth, my writing is just a reflection of the inner struggles, to become whole again. In high schoool, I was told to drop French after grade 9, which I did. Now, find myself regretting that move on my part, but that's ancient history. Being at university, exposed me, to so many different things, like studying Russian (the language), got a c-, as a final mark. Just completing that language course, proved all of teachers wrong. My learning disabilities are hard, but others have it worse and are thriving, at university. Just wish, I had kept closer ties with a friend, whom personify, what true strength is. He refused to use his CP as a crutch for anything. He taught me, alot.

Things are moving quickly now that I have my drivers license and social security card in my new name. It was really affirming when I got my first paycheck in my new name.

Amazingly I have found many cis women are absolutely wrong in their assumptions about bra fittings. I knew an elderly lady that said, "I have been a C cup since school, I just buy a bigger band size as my breasts grow." This is completely WRONG as the band should always fit snug with they gore firmly against the chest.    One of CNA's came into Torrid and I helped her pick out a new bra. She didn't even understand band size was inches and cups/band combo were based off Victorian shirt sizes.  She said, "how do you know so much?"   We found her proper fitting band size, then found a cup she fit.    How can people that take the vast majority of bra users know so little about them? Seems most cis women just use "try it on" only.

As has been said many times, this is not a black and white issue. Sure.  I get it that a MtF person that has gone through full male puberty and "transitioned" 6 months ago probably has an advantage in some sports.  But these bans affect elementary school kids too. I mean, banning trans women from Darts?  Chess?

Worry refers to the thoughts, images, emotions, and actions of a negative nature in a repetitive, uncontrollable manner that results from a proactive cognitive risk analysis made to avoid or solve anticipated potential threats and their potential consequences.

Good morning    Now @Abigail Genevieve and @Mmindy what makes you so certain I didn’t mean it to say bee itch certificate?  lol. Thanks Mindy. I was asleep when you saw this and fixed it, and yes Abigail, as a moderator I could have fixed it myself, or weren’t you pointing out the irony of that?   I use Alexis as my alarm to get up.  And I set the ringer to be two guys telling me to get up.  I was so sound asleep when they started telling me to get up that it scared me and my first thought were I had over slept.  Since I have a difficult time getting to sleep as early as I have to in order to get enough sleep I at least cut back my normal awake time to get ready.  But now I have to do my hair and get going.   enjoyed my coffee and a little time catching up   see you all later, for its hi ho hi ho it’s off to work I go.   Willow

Republicans have long committed grave errors by emphasizing their social agenda and moral issues instead of just focusing on the economy, lowering taxes, keeping the public safe, building a strong national defense, promoting business, touting reasonable immigration policies, etc.   The country would thrive economically under Trump's tax and business policies. That's a fact. Another four years of Biden will run this country into the ground financially (including all of our 401Ks and IRAs). But the GOP continues to play right into the Dems' hands by leading with their moral crusades instead of staying the course and trusting their fiscal policies to win the day...
