Advice?

5 posts in this topic

Hey all,

I've a question, and any help would be appreciated. I'm Australian, nineteen, ftm, just over a month on T, and looking to have top surgery at the end of this year.

I'm not currently enlisted, but I've wanted to be a soldier since before I could walk. So, my question is, does anyone have any information regarding enlisting trans* soldiers, as opposed to supporting pre-enlisted soldiers through their transition? Obviously, there's not much information going around, but anything at all is a start. So far, the ADF has recently repealed a ban on trans* soldiers serving, but there is no relating information for those looking to join.

Any takers?

Thanks in advance,

- Liam.

Liam, there are a couple of other sites, one an official Defence Department site, that suggests they would take an otherwise qualified transman to serve.

I suggest you talk with a military recruiter. They will have the most up-to-date information. Good luck!
