Well....................................

Lizzy and I went to Wells Fargo today to cash in an annuity that I have......

She has other money set aside, as well ........

Please don't say "You're lucky"......

Why? Because "Luck" had nothing to do with it......

I started this annuity 20 years ago and worked tons of overtime and didn't take a vacation for 7 years...

And now....we're finally going to get our SRS....

When I called my "Financial Adviser" , she said "You need to save this money for when you're old and need it.....

DUuuuuhhhh....

I'm 62 and Lizzy is 64.........we're old....

We need it......It's time for our SRS.......

It's our time.....period!

God how I love your posts, and Lizzy's to. I'm so happy for you. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Pity the poor nurses. They don't know you girls like we do <VBG>. Hurry home and take care of each other. Kathryn

I was gonna say, Dee Jay, not to spend it all in one place.

But, well, you're gonna spend it all in one place. :D

Better than putting it on the Pass line in a Vegas casino craps table, I'd say. Because you and Lizzie are guaranteed winners.

Well, I was gonna spend it all on a Ferrari....but, I figured I'd crash it in the first 15 minutes.....

So....I'm going for the other thing......

Actually Dee Jay hasn't even gotten the money yet and she already went on a Lady Bug buying spree.

We are going to have to keep her in a Lady Bug free zone until the surgery.

Love ya,

Dee Jay:

It's called working your butt off. It's called making sacrifices. It's called prudent planning.

Like, 'nuff said! You don't owe an explanation to anybody, girl. It's YOUR capital to use freely.

You've chosen your surgeon. You've got confidence in him (assuming it's a him). You're good to go.

Actually, I saw in one of your recent SRS threads where you mentioned that you're NOT using some cut-rate doctor. Hey, nobody said you were, as far as I know. You found a way to finance your surgery, made the deal (or arrangement with whoever), saw the surgeon to get your clearance and, I'm assuming, make a good-faith deposit. What's not to like? All systems are go!

Those on here who want SRS/GRS should keep in mind that ANYTHING can be financed. Okay, most really good SRS surgeons want cashe on the barrel head. Many of them don't accept insurance. No biggie. People can arrange financing terms and conditions with third parites (like you did with your annuity in this case), make the deal, get the funds, pay the surgeon and have the surgery. My point is that it's POSSIBLE and most of us can do it!

Need money for SRS? Make like Donald Trump, think possibilities, make the deal and get it done! Think it can't be done? It CAN be done! Dee Jay found a way. Most of you can too! As for me, I'll most likely not have SRS/GRS. I waffle back on forth on the issue. Anybody who waffles about it most likely SHOULD NOT have the surgery. That's just me.

Those of you that WANT the surgery CAN find a way to have it. Yes, you CAN!

Believe :friends: Lacey

Oh, yeah:

Think The Loy-Jenkins SRS Express is about to roll! Alright! Congrats! All aboard! Roll 'em!

Financial advisors...... yeah some punk who has no idea.........

Ignore the punk, and do what you need to do with your money.

It is your money afterall. The punk has nothing meaningful to say. That punk represents the bank's interests., not yours.

It's all arranged ...it's our money....

It's a perfect deal.... The SRS will be in a major medical facility (USA) and with a very experienced doctor....

Are we excited and happy?

HELL YEAH!

It's the end of this portion of our transition....

It's not the end, though.....

Much to go.....

....and I still need to collect those fees from all those other mods.....(tell ya latter)

If I had ignored my financial adviser and not left my money in his so charming hands I'd have top surgery and skin reduction scheduled for next week already. And he might have had to wait awhile longer to retire I suspect. Lost over 100K that way.

I'd spend my last penny and count it well lost -if I had one instead of my financial adviser having it :)-to get top surgery. Beats spending it on nursing homes and Depends some day anyway.

Go for it girls.

How often do you get to have a lifelong dream come true and how could anyone ever put a price on it?

I am so deeply happy for you both

@Mia Marie I agree that it seems most of the focus is on Trans Youth.  And maybe that is in part because of protecting Trans Youth from the political environment, and to give them a chance to transition at an earlier age.  Many of our generation have been cloistered for most of our lives by societal exceptions and I think that has made it more difficult to be Visible ... until Now. So I guess my answer is ... Be Visible and seek out, or even start, support groups in your local area.  Planned Parenthood does provide Gender Affirming Care and therapy in most U.S. regions (and they take Medicare!).

As a registered CA voter I would be HAPPY to vote against this bill ... BUT as @Carolyn Marie mentioned it has little chance to make the ballot.  Hopefully this will put the Death Knell on the bill.   wrt Parents Rights of notification.  I would agree if there was potential harm to a child, or if the child was involved in potentially harming somebody else.  BUT, that would not be the case in the preponderance of situations.  The decision to Come Out to one's own parents should be up to the individual child only.  If the child does not feel Secure or Safe in their household then it should not be up to the State or School to make that determination. If the child did feel safe and secure they would have probably already come out.  If they haven't ... then the situation seems obvious.  Protect the Child, not the System.

Great news!  We ARE starting to receive more public support and visibility in opposition to these types of horrendous and wasteful bills.

Nice to meet you @mattie22 , and Welcome! Your feelings are very normal.  I felt much the same at the beginning of my Journey.  But, in fact it is a 'journey' that is unique to each of our individual lives.  There is not a specific or pre-determined destination.  That's up to you to discover as you find your way. You already received some great Encouragement here.  I hope stay with us, and you will both discover and contribute.  Deeps breaths ... one step at a time

Incredible news for transgender and abortion providers and patients in Maine. Despite violent threats, Gov. Janet Mills of Maine has signed a sanctuary bill into law. It even enshrines WPATH Standards of Care as protected by Maine.   https://twitter.com/ErinInTheMorn/status/1782894991368462520/photo/1

Basically my only source of validation is from close friends who know I'm trans 😅   I'm not a very masculine-looking guy in general, and I've had to stop binding due to pain, so strangers and physical validation aren't things I can get. My family still uses she/her pronouns and female terms with me, so there's not much validation at home, either.   I'm grateful I have friends that are willing to use my pronouns and such, though. It makes me feel a lot better.

I use my  chosen name online and when ever I can. I play some online game and only go by that name. That is how everyone there know me. Yes it does feel great to be called the name you prefer.

I was ten years old when my mom walked in on me frolicking around my room dressed up in her bra, panties, and some pantyhose. I had been doing this in the privacy of my bedroom for a little while now so I had my own little stash box I kept full of different panties, bras, etc ... of hers. My mom's underwear was so easy for me to come by and she was a very attractive woman, classy, elegant. Well when she walked in on me, she looked at me with disgust and said to me... "If I wanted to run around like mommy's little girl instead of mommy's little boy, then she was going to treat me like mommy's little girl."  She left my bedroom after telling me NOT to change or get dressed or anything and returned with a few of her work skirts and blouses and such. She made me model off her outfits for her and I have to admit ... I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. I felt so sexy, and feminine. And she knew I loved it.  She told me we can do this every weekend if I'd like. It would be OUR little secret.

The usual social ways, of course.  Taking care of my partners and stepkids, being involved in my community.  That makes me feel good about my role.   As for physical validation and gender... probably the most euphoric experience is sex.  I grew up with my mother telling me that my flat and boyish body was strange, that my intersex anatomy was shameful, that no man would want me. So experiencing what I was told I could never have is physical proof that I'm actually worth something.

<Moderator hat on>  I think that, at this point we need to get the thread back onto the topic, which is the judge's ruling on the ballot proposition.  If there is more to be said on the general principles of gendered spaces etc., please discuss them, carefully and respectfully, in separate threads. <Moderator hat off>

People who have no understanding of transgender conditions should not be making policy for people dealing with it. Since it is such a small percentage of the population, and each individual is unique, and their circumstances are also unique, each situation needs to be worked with individually to see that the best possible solution is implemented for those involved.
