going shopping for the first time with a woman friend of mine, and i'm not sure what i want to buy... undergarments are a given, but do i go with a shirt/jean combo, or a blouse/skirt combo... i'm totally lost.

for a person approaching 30, who's tall (6'2"), and not quite in the best of shape, what should i pick out as my first outfit?

It's so much fun Jennifer, you are very fortunate to have a friend to go out shopping with. The good news for us tall gals (I'm 6'4") is there are more choices than ever before. Long inseam pants for women are everywhere it seems now. More selection of shoes are available in larger sizes, etc. I would start with a skirt blouse combo, a solid colored skirt, goes great with patterned tops for example, don't forget the stockings. Pants - girl styled jeans are always a good choice, with a nice belt. Here is nice link to go virtual shopping with. I have found gems starting out here.

Enjoy, shopping for clothes is one of life's true pleasures.

I'll second Cindy's recommendation, a good solid color skirt is a great wardrobe builder, one skirt can go with many different blouses.

While new is nice for your first time. But I find thrift shops allow me to get both the skirt and the jeans and several tops at budget prices. Most have plus sizes seperated out and if it doesn't work you can donate it back. That gives you an excuse to go in the store and buy more.

thanks for the replies. i went shopping at the mall with my friend, but i didn't buy anything yet. i must say, i did learn a bit though.

there was one question she posed to me, which was how i wanted to look (clothing-wise). in all honesty, i didn't really think about it. womens clothes come in so many varieties and looks... shopping for mens clothes is easy, you grab a shirt off the shelf and hit the checkout... i didn't think womens shopping would be so difficult.

i've been looking at online catalogues of various clothing stores and i still can't figure out something to wear... i've really been considering jeans and a tank-top just to get me started, but that doesn't really stray far from how i dress as a male around the house (jeans and a undershirt, a normal shirt if its cold or if i'm going out)... on one hand, i should wear something that feels like "me", but i'm worried about looking "butch" (pardon the expression). i feel like i'm spinning my wheels...

thanks

Tank tops an Jeans are good for starting out, don't forget panties and shoes . All of my jeans are girls jean, they fit so much better, I don't even have a pair of mens jeans anymore. all my tank tops are girls an I have the graphic T shirts. I have one pair of mens underwear that I never wear, what I wear is panties, thongs, bikini's, boyshorts an hipsters. womens socks, and tights. My favorite outfit is a Tank top, pink bra an my jean mini skirt , thong with or without the black tights. .

Hi Jennifer

In my extremely short history as a 'new' cross-dresser I didn't actually worry about how I wanted to look. I did it the other way! I'm a great E-bay user and that is one gigantic catalogue with loads of low-cost clothes in it. I just bought what caught my fancy and then started afterwards to match up things to make a look. I started out looking a bit hit-and-miss, but after a couple of skirts I found I could choose blouses to match and have not looked back (well - apart from looking at my bank balance). Now I have some lovely combinations I feel really good in. I can dress slovenly, elegantly, sexily and even like a 'biker chick' and enjoy it all. I love to choose the look for a day. :)

Just have fun! I found starting with skirts is a good way forward.

Hugs,

Eve

Just remember shopping is like the magic turkish delight in 'The lion the witch and the wardrobe' by CS lewis, Once you bite , you'll want more and more :)

Enjoy!!

I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
