Minnesota Federal Judge Rules Against Insurance Company

Recommended Posts

Carolyn Marie

Chief U.S. District Judge Michael Davis has ruled that an insurance company illegally denied insurance coverage to the wife of a man she married in 2005. The insurance company claimed the marriage was invalid because the wife was a transwoman.

The bigotry and transphobia of this periodical, "The New American," is plainly evident. Almost every mention of and reference to the woman is contained in quotes, including her name and the word marriage. The "paper" (quotation marks added) called Davis' ruling "puzzling." Nothing puzzling about this rag, whose menu choices include a section on "faith and morals."

while the article is awful, the court's decision is a fantastic step forward for all of us!

Its those ""New Americans"" that are giving us older ones a real pain and a terrible reputation. The insurance company that lost was probably a big stockholder in the magazine.

The news is good but I won't read the article. I appreciate that others do and report for me because we need to know what is being said and how, but it just incenses me and keeps in a foul mood for hours to read stuff like that.

That court ruling however is great!

Good news but the New American is up to its normal garbage.

I agree that we may well not be much better off here in the US.  There is definitely a backlash and in some areas or with certain demographics our safety doesn't exist.  Fortunately there are also many who are much more accepting than ever.  I have to look at that bright side. A bit of a Pollyanna ?   Hugs,   Charlize

Sad to say, this is running about the same as it is here in the U.S. and may not be as bad in a couple of places, but still it is pretty bad overall.  Great Britain has about the same stats on H8ers, minus the KKK of course, but the Fundamentalist and Roman Catholic influences are used as the same excuses to just plain hate from what I have heard.

https://inews.co.uk/news/uk/third-transgender-people-victim-hate-crime/   This is very troubling, but given the very negative press and public opinions, hardly surprising.  The question is, what, if anything, will be done about it?   Carolyn Marie

Seat belts are not required but highly advised.  Actually i took me time to feel much and even then changes were slow and subtle.  Enjoy your journey!   Hugs,   Charlize
