orchiectomy

I am starting to transition in a few days, and this was one of the procedures that I wamted to have done. In fact it is the only one I am planning on any time soon. My question is, how does one start to find a place? I assume my gt will help me once I get one, so hopefully this won't be too hard. Also, would others reccomend this surgery? I know it takes care of the production of testosterone and therefore eliminates the need for anti androgens, but are there other unforseen bad things more so than just the risks of surgery?

Well I am only interested in the astetics of srs, I could care less about the funcrtionality. But I do want it to look right and to have my penis be gone in the future.

An orchiectomy can be handled by a Urologist who will need you to follow procedures similar to GT and have a recommendation from a therapist/psychiatrist, or have a diagnosis of pre-cancer or other significant health risk for keeping your gonads.

I agree with Jodie if you do the excercises and see a surgeon that knows what is required for a succesful SRS then you shouldn't have any issues. I know a few girls in Australia that have gone down this path and have had much success and happiness.

I plan to do it this way too.

One of the other thing to be aware of is that you must take some hormones after the orchidectomy, either oestrogen preferably or testosterone (Not sure why you would do that). Otherwise you run the risk of osteoporosis or brittle bones later on in life.

I had an orci with Dr Bowers before SRS and it did not affect my results. Dr Bowers says no problem with an orci. She requires a letter from your therapist and on HRT. I was very pleased with my orci as I only needed estrogen and I was much calmer. I you are living as a woman you can get most documents changed because you have ha irreversible genital surgery.

i was talking with my transgender medicine doctor about that the last time i saw her becuase i was nervious about possible complications of SRS and the feeling that i wanted a orchi first then SRS but was nervious that i couldnt do both and she told me that its better to do SRS without but if you decide to do orchi then SRS there is the chance that they may need to do skin grafts to make the labia if there isnt enough scrotum left, but other wise its not a problem. so i think my plan is orchi then later SRS...its expensive and i dont know if my medical will cover it. gotta save for it. maybe that helps you some.
