I need to know what sort of diet is best for a MTF Transition, What foods are good for a person to take to achieve a healthy female body? How many calories should they eat per day?

What sort of herbs can you take to further feminize your mind and body? What will be helpful overall to feel and look better? I currently take Ginseng for energy but that's about it.

I haven't yet begun my MTF journey as I am not even on HRT yet, but I also want to know whats good to do in addition to HRT for health.

What is good as far as vitamins go?

What Electrolytes can I take that are helpful?

What Amino Acids does a woman need, that a MTF should also take ?

What about minerals?

Basically what I am seeking here is to be a healthy happy human being while doing the journey of Transitioning

I'll let the ladies answer the other questions but as far as any herbs etc that will feminize-there is a lot of hype out there but none that are proven to be effective in any way while some have been proven to be highly dangerous-even fatal. We have seen and heard first hand here how dangerous some can be.

Hormone therapy through a Dr is the only way to really to feminize your body though you can get in better shape and become more attractive without them.As I said I'll let the ladies handle that but please, please don't consider any of the supplements etc that promise feminization -at best they are a waste of money. At worst you can end up in a very bad situation-even unable to ever take hormones,

I think overall eating a healthy diet whether male or female is the best thing to do. Try to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, stay away from junk food. Fish, Chicken Turkey are lower in cholesterol. Stay away from eating food that is in batter or fried. I'm a fan of Mediterranean food myself. Exercise that burns calories while making sure your body isn't burning too many calories. Get plenty of sleep too.

This is helpful whether you are diabetic or not, but you should use the diet goals for your preferred gender. http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/food/my-food-advisor/?loc=DropDownFF-mfa

The main idea, is that everything will help you within limits and with forethought on what to eat. As said above though, no herbs or vitamins taken in recommended daily dosages will do much at all other than give you general good health. Even ordinary carrots, eaten in too great a quantity will make you pretty sick, and very yellow!!

I would certainly recommend against self medication with any herb. Food is life. I'm on as close to a fat free diet as possible because of coronary artery disease. Dr. Dean Ornish recommends this diet to reverse heart disease. My cholesterol levels are very low which might help me get HRT as clotting is one possible side effect. I love this diet and we have a great time cooking all the indian veg dishes etc. It takes time but i'm getting to be a better cook and working next to my wife as her girl friend. I'm hoping to hear from the Dr. this week about whether hormones pose too great a risk for me. If so then breast augmentation surgery may be required. Ugh. Maybe better than falsies forever.

Hugs,

Charlie

What about things I can take for softer smoother silkier skin? Externally and Internally?

What can I take to make my hair more feminine? What about nails being stronger and longer?

Also what is good to get a pleasant smell about your skin, my mom suggested eating lots of cilantro for a clean smell.

What should I do different that I did before as living as male that I would as living as female and being as feminine as possible?

I should have asked it better, I am not seeking the herbs to make up some sort of mock estrogen, instead I am just wondering what is good for a woman to take to feel healthier vs a man and then finding a balance.

The rest like amino acids, minerals, electroylites and vitamins I also want some info about.

Smoother softer skin, Internally, there really isn't anything specific. Externally, skin moisturiser for your type of skin. Some people have oily skin, some have people have dry skin. Pick the one for you, easy to find. Getting one with with a good sunscreen SPF helps the skin from the damaging affects of the sun too. As far as smell, I think you might be able to find something scented. As far as what to different as a female, look after your skin with moisturizers. That can be good advice for any guy too.

There are so many herbs out there and depending on what you want to accomplish etc. Healthier in what way, more energy or more relaxed and less stress, etc etc etc. Aminos, electrolytes, vitamins?..... a variety of different vegitables and fruites, staying away from as much processed food as possible in your daily life. Splurge once in a while with some treats so you aren't depriving yourself.

Yeah my mind races alot so I need something to help me relax in the evening, and then something to help me get going in the morning, as I am groggy then. It would be nice to have something that does not make you feel jittery.

What about hair, skin and nails? I heard Biotin was good for that, anything else?

Camomile tea, some mental calmness.

From a vitamin suppliments store, tablets with L-theanine. Natural Factors sells Mental Calmness with 100% L-Theanine in the USA and Canada, a search on their website for locations in Texas comes up with quite a few locations. Info on Theanine can be found on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theanine

If you want some energy in the morning, plenty of sleep the night before, a good breakfast high in fibre, hold back on the sugar. and some black coffee, no sugar, should do the trick.

Biotin, do you have a concern that you are lacking B7 vitamins in your diet? Are you having a problem with hair loss, deficiency in your eyebrows and eyelashes. Are you having trouble with your nails breaking, flaking or chipping easily? It also helps people who are diabetic. It is something for people who are lacking B7 in the body.

It's kinda weird how these people are so worked up over making these laws.  They would have no effect on cis people either way.  Yet they are the ones with the obsession.  They ought to just stay out of trans people's business.

Bean burritos are still popular in my family.   Black eyed peas are the one legume I'm not fond of.  I need to add lots of onions. And of course always cook your pintoes with fat-meat.  And for y'all yankees, navy beans with a big ol' ham bone are hard to beat.

Seek out community, not just online but in person if possible. Making trans friends is a pretty quick and easy way to gauge if you have much in common with them.

It certainly could be classed as dark humor.  Unfortunately the sentiments alone must hurt young trans folks.  Decency and reality doesn't seem to be in the GOP's vocabulary.   Hugs,   Charlize

Good morning all,    It’s a frosty morning here the lawn looks silvery, and the uncovered spring flowers have icy edges on their leaves. The only flower bed I covered was my tulips. As nice as it is here during the day, our clear wind free nights allow the temperatures to drop into the mid twenties. Here in our growing zone it’s recommended that you not plant delicate plants until Mother’s Day. Central Indiana can have snow as late as the third week of May. The birds are active at the feeders, I’ve had my cup of yoghurt and morning meds. So I’ll sit here, drink coffee and watch the as the sunrise chases the frost from the yard.    @awkward-yet-sweet I could eat black eyed peas as a side for every meal. Boil them plain or with fatback. Served as a leftover, just add in a little Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies.  Make the best of your day,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?

Positive side of the mixed bag.

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.
