Can MTF eat meat?

Guest Ashlyn

Recommended Posts

Ok so I read meat has protein and I read if your MTF you need to stay away from protein sine it has testosterone. Now I was never a big meat eater but I loved hot dogs and those chicken nuggets. For the last year I swore meat of my diet to get only estrogen. However I heard that it makes no difference. just curious if its ok for MTF to eat meat

Total myth. If it was a problem, it would affect genetic girls too and it doesn't. You will want to have a good protein intake if you start HRT because protein is what will help build the breast muscle structures. (They will fill in with fat but the base structure is muscle.)

As a fully omnivorous MtF, my testosterone is exactly where my endocrinologist wants it, and I am developing just fine and feeling great because of a balanced diet.

having a good amount of protein in your diet is important even as a MTF (or any woman for that matter). You should always eat a balanced diet but if you substitute empty carbs and unnecessary sugars for complex carbs (whole grains) and protein it will be easier to maintain a healthy weight. Adding lean body mass (muscle) is a result of eating a balanced diet with the right amount of protein, this may sound bad because your trying to lose muscle mass but thats not entirely true because you need a certain amount of lean body mass to stay healthy and fit. As long as your not doing extreme weight lifting (light resistance is fine for lengthening the muscles) your body will reach a state of homeostasis where your body has exactly the right amount of muscle it needs... which if your on HRT will be that of the female version of yourself.

So by eating the right amount of protein and other nutrients as well as doing the proper exercises, you will have leaner (less fat in between muscle fibers, this is human equivalent of "marble" in meat), and longer muscles and the proportion of those muscles will be correct.

In other words its actually very good to eat the correct amount of protein for you height, weight, and gender (based on metabolism which is hormone dependent). So don't cut yourself short... also protein is a natural appetite suppressor.

I'm not quite sure there's meat in hot dogs and chicken nuggets.

Oh there is meat in hotdogs and chicken nuggets . But if most people realized just what part and how nasty it actually was they most likely would not continue to eat them....Most chicken nuggets are made from grinding the entire chicken( minus feathers) untill it becomes a pink slime. They then soak in in ammonia( umm yummy ..not) to kill bateria they then dye it so it looks less pink...very nasty stuff... Unless its made from breast meat I would not eat them.

O my! Fear & Loathing in Pennsylvania.

I've actually been to your State a number of times. In fact I was in (Bradford?) where they make Zippo lighters, sick as a dog in a Holiday Inn, when the news broke about the Manson Murders.

Also a tiny town called Kane and a place just across the New York State border called Olivant (or something like that!)

At the time there were these gigantic stinky chimneys everywhere called 'coffee pots' that filled the air with noxious smoke. As well, most barns had 'Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco' painted on them and there were signs everywhere advertising Goats Milk Fudge.

Oh, and hex signs on barns. I recall them.

This was in the 60's, though. I'm sure everything has totally changed by now.

Bye for now!

I love meat. I love steak. I love hot dogs. Do I know what's in them? No, but just like really good Louisiana cajun cooking, you don't ask what's in it, you just eat it and enjoy. :)

The Zippo factory is still there. They also have a museum. :)

As one of the planet's leading Carnivores, I would first like to say that if your steak resembles rubber in any form - look for the jokey's whip marks on it.

When I was a very small child I would not eat the vegetables placed before me - I lived on meat and peanut butter sandwiches.

My mother was very concerned because everyone always talks about a balanced diet to promote healthy growth, she asked our family doctor rather than just relying on what her friends were saying - his response was that If I was eating beef, the cow had already eaten the grains and that the protein was probably the most important building block for a small child.

I took his advice to heart and eat meat - all kinds, growing up in a place called Cow Town I place beef as my favorite meat but I love chicken, fish and a friend from Ohio introduced me to Pork (I thought only ham and bacon came from pigs) and another friend from Louisiana, where I now reside introduced me to whatever it is that is actually in Cajun and creole cooking - good stuff.

So in synopsis: Meat - Good!

Love ya,

Sally

Nobody here said anything about meat not being good

(or better than any other form of high protein food). It's

just cow steak in particular I can't stand. I actually enjoy grinded

cow meat with spaghetti, tomato sauce and the like. I don't mind

other forms of steak such as buffalo or horse ones (even though it's been a while since I

last ate those, I'll have to check whether I didn't change my mind about them too).

But cow steak is just bleh.

Ummm. . .a zippo museum? Lemme guess: the first display shows a prehistoric homminid at a watering hole trying to blaze up by rubbing two Zippo sticks together.

Cool.

Just a quick note that the previous post reminded me of.

People used to say that you should not eat red meat - I totally agree - I only eat brown meat, that is the color of red meat after it has been properly introduced to fire.

I see a rare steak and I think that it is not a sign of sophistication to eat your meat half raw - it is just that you forgot how great fire can be.

If you ever want to try a beef steak that is delicious you must start with a cut that is not 2 or 3 inches thick - less than an inch is best - the fire should be fairly low - you can start on high to sear the outside and trap more juices inside - but be careful most people cook meat too quickly and basically manage to burn the outside without even heating the middle.

If cooked properly even that most hated cut - the liver can be delicious but that is not so often the case.

Everyone has different tastes and a lot stems from environment - my father hated steaks and loved hot dogs - his father worked in the largest meat packing plant in Fort Worth and their Sunday dinner was not fried chicken like most families in Texas, they had Porter House steaks (one of the best cuts around) and he was only allowed to eat hot dogs at the Fort Worth Cats Baseball games - the association is that hot dogs are a treat and steaks are just routine.

So to vegetarians and vegans everywhere I say - enjoy, eat what you like and I shall do the same - life is short so enjoy as much of it as you can - that includes meal times.

Love ya,

Sally

PS My favorite vegetables are Brussel Sprouts, Lima Beans, Broccoli and carrots.

I guess that depends.

Could you play the piano before transitioning?

I don't really care in what manner it's cooked, I just don't like it, period.

I prefer salmon to everything else if I have a choice.

Steak tartare is a-okay though, but the only thing in common it has with

steak apart from the name is that they're both of cow meat. Here in BE,

we've got a thing called "americain" (lol). Grinded meat with mayo, basically.

That one's good too.

P.S.: all that food talk and a wish to lose a lot of weight makes Alex go something... something...

Nah, just kidding. Not really all that hungry after I found out I was TG. I eat a lot less now than before,

a lot less. I should plan my diet once I got on HRT though, since I'm usually a very impulsive eater.

Even now, just on a smaller scale.

Sarcastic no...I'll give you cryptic. Happens when Im rush posting at work sometimes.

Patient: Doctor Doctor! Will I be able to play the piano when you've fixed my hand?

Doctor: Of course!

Patient: Great! I've never been able to play before!

We aren't becoming different people. There are no restrictions that I'm aware of other than certain medication issues like potassium, but a doctor should cover those.

"just curious if its ok for MTF to eat meat"

I guess that depends.

Could you eat meat before transitioning? One can't just say yes because people do have food restrictions that won't just be fixed with the process. But in most cases it's not an issue.

Bob was on his way home from the dojo and he "just happened" to driver by her place. It was 10:30.  Her light was still on.  He knew exactly where she was sitting.  He saw her in his mind.   A fierce wave of desire that took his breath away suddenly showed up. All he had to do was stop, get out of the car, walk to the door and knock.  She would answer, glad to see him.  She would know why he was there and what he wanted. She would invite him in, maybe get him something to drink, disappear for a moment and return in "something more comfortable."  She would lead him back. Oh, joy.   And never, ever speak to him again afterwards.  Or she would not let him in but be angry about it.  In no way, emotionally, physically, mentally or spiritually, was she ready for this, and he knew it, if he was honest with himself, and she knew he knew it.  She would look upon it as another assault and their relationship would be irretrievably broken.  He would have to leave town. It would devastate her. It would devastate him.    He fought himself.  He was frozen to his seat as his reason and his body fought. He was twenty four years old, a full-blooded male with normal desires; he had just worked out and he was ready.  All he had to do now was open the car door. No one would know. He held his hands, one in the other, to keep one from moving, against his reason and will, to open that door.  He did not want to be a slave of his desires.   He looked across the street.  Mrs. McCarthy, sister of his landlord, was peeking though her window.  She knew his car.  Everyone in town would know by noon the next day if he got out of the car.  Taylor did not need that, either, and she would know, if he came to the door now, what a selfish thing it would be: in his own eyes, in the eyes of Taylor, in the eyes of the town, and worst of all, in the eyes of God.   He sat there a moment longer.  He was, as he reflected, entering into her sufferings in a small way that she would be made whole, healthy and happy: what he wanted more than anything.  But this hurt.  Why had all this come on her?  He asked God again, but there was only silence. He drove home in that silence. He chided himself for even going on her street and for driving on it other nights.  He would stop that, he told himself.   ------------------------------------------   The next morning Taylor went out to her car to go to work.  Mrs. McCarthy met her before she got to it. "I thought you were going to get lucky last night, dearie," she said. Taylor was puzzled. "Why, what do you mean?" "That young fellow - you know, Bob - he's been driving around here, going up and down the street some nights, not stopping.  Well, last night he parked and sat in his car for a while.   I think he was staring at your window.  I think he was trying to get up the courage to knock on the door. I was rooting for him.   But then he drove away.  Faint heart never won fair lady, as they say. What a shame. You two are a lovely couple.  Well, have a good day!" "Thank you, Mrs. McCarthy."  Taylor knew Bob extremely well and knew what had been going through his mind.  She was more than grateful he had not gotten out of the car. Better for him, better for her, better for everybody.  Surgery "down there" sooner than later.  This was driving the poor boy crazy. It was driving her crazy, too.  But she had a lot to work through. Surgery "up here" she said, pointing to her head.  She woke up her therapist on the way to work.  They were still talking when she pulled into her designated parking spot.  That was a perk that had happened yesterday.  She took a deep breath and headed into work. It would be another wild day.

I'm thinking about some interactions yesterday I did, while presenting as male but acting as female, that were far better than I did when I was presenting as male and acting as male.  #girlunderhood. I do a crappy job at acting as male and I am giving it up.  I am not talking about feminine gestures or presentation but just relating as a woman.  People don't realize I am doing it but it is a whole lot easier to do.   You don't just put on a dress and BOOM you are a girl.  You are a girl and you put on a dress.  Or not. Whether I am in jeans or a skirt (I wish, wife would have lots to say) I am a girl.  I don't need $250 in makeup and heels and hose and all that.  I don't need surgery. Honey, I have arrived.  Now I have to work out how that best works in my life, causing the minimal damage and creating the maximum good, but I have more working room.   Oh, and I am still pissed off at everyone and everything. #Contradictory.

@Willow it is certainly possible that my husband planned it. Placing me in the path of an opportunity....he certainly does things like that. GF has done some work for the company as an outside consultant, so I'm sure the company owner knows what potential resources are around.    It could also have just happened randomly. He has taken me to work with him before, just because he likes to have me around. I remember one time that I fell asleep with my head in his lap, and he held a meeting with his subordinates without waking me and making me move.  The company culture is family oriented and relaxed.

The photo is great.  Software is phenomenal but it also is sort of a promise of things to come. Years ago this sort of thing took a photographer and Photoshop and all sorts of things and you would say, "I can look like THIS??"   Me, I am a duck.  That's from my driver's license.  Just kidding.

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.
