Home laser hair removal systems...

Has anyone tried and found a good one? I can not afford professional electrolysis or laser treatments, but I have seen some home laser systems on the Internet that 'seemed' to have good reviews.

My body hair is curly and thick at the base (diameter of hair, not quantity) with deep roots and as a result tends to ingrow when shaved or plucked. It is dark hair and I have fairly pale skin so I believe I would be a decent candidate for laser removal.

Just trying to find an affordable option as I have limited funds and am discouraged by shaving so much (my hair grows too damn fast).

No, but I've been reading some pretty good reviews on it. Seems like a good product from what I gather.

I've heard the NoNo system doesn't work too bad, but personally I have never tried it

The nono apparently works well on fine hair, but those that have tried it with coarse facial hair have had abysmal results, at least those I've heard about.

The infomercial for the Tria lazer hair removal system seems alost too goood to be true. They say it's even FDA approved, this got my attention. This is slightly more expensive than the nono system but if it works the 275-350 dollars they charge is a steal for perminant hair removal.

FDA approval just means it wont hurt you, it doesn't mean it is effective. The tria is supposed to be pretty good though, the only downside is the small aperture size... its only like 1/4in which means it will take FOREVER to do even small sections... just a heads up on that. I just starting using the sensepil IPL unit on my chest about 2 weeks ago (its time for my next session actually), it is also supposed to be pretty effective (at body hair anyway, not beard hair), after a few more sessions I will report back and let everyone know how its working. The sensepil is about the same price as the tria but you have to replace the bulbs every once and awhile but it has a much larger surface area which means it takes much less time to go over an area... the tria however will get more energy into the hair follicle than the sensepil.

On the legs we both had 5 treatments each and they are quite smooth.

Done my stomach also and quite smooth.

The armpits seem to be harder it's getting thinner but not as good as the legs.

Only done my back 2 times and started om my arms now.

Not enough times yet to see results.

Mind you it's not a permanent solution

Yeah, I did a little reading and saw it wasn't a permanent system. Apparently it's no good for the face either, but I didn't see if that was because it was ineffective or unsafe, so I'm not sure which, but I'd guess the former as it claims to be a gentle system.

I have the silk n go its currently 230 i think on sale i ve used two cartidrges i have a thick bierd but i have a lot less facial hair and all the hairs under my chin are gone.

Don't waste your money on NoNo. It just burns off the hair close to the skin, but is not permanent or all that effective. I bought one and I'm not satisfied at all. Tried and older Tria laser and the small aperture size is a problem, but it does kill the hairs permanently. The newest Tria laser has a larger aperture I've heard. As expensive as laser and electrolysis is, I was half tempted to buy a commercial laser. They have used ones for sale. But alas, I am fair haired and laser doesn't work all that well for me.

It's electrolysis for me, I'm afraid. I've had close to 100 hours now and probably need upwards of a 100 more. A daunting thought indeed, but I'll just have to bite the bullet and do it.

I bought one of the new Tria lasers a couple of weeks back, it's still sitting in the box staring at me as I haven't had time to use it with all my RLE paperwork changes, doh! .

I tried electro on my fingers exactly twice in the past 18 months and quickly found out that I didn't enjoy the experience at all, not that I enjoy the face experience that much either, but, heck, its that or wear pancake foundation for the rest of my life.

I found HRT really helped me with body hair as well as some laser through a dermatologists office which I do once a month for my face, and have infrequently done over the past year or so for the body also. I say infrequently as, though a dermatologists office is much much cheaper than one of those spas or so called 'specialist' laser centers, it still adds up, but a couple of sessions, combined with HRT and a good shaving regime, every 10 days or so, keeps the body hair in check. Wish it would be that way for my face.

I bought the Tria based on all the masses of positive reviews out there and the recommendation of my Electrologist. Yup, an Electrologist recommended I get one for body hair, as she had a couple of clients who had very positive results using it since it has been on the market.

I have asked around to satisfy my own interest on various sites. I hear again & again that the Tria laser system works. I also hear that it works BETTER if you have darker hair and if your not on HRT yet (and still have thicker hair). Girls with lighter or finer hair tend to have less impressive relults I guess. I am saving to get my own system right now & I will come back & let everyone know how it works for me!

I'm starting with the Elysee E-Rola, now made by Verseo. I did a test patch on my arm and its not too bad. I get the impression that home systems may ultimately take longer and might need to be used daily to every other day. But they are advantageous in the sense that you don't have to grow beard stubble and then go out to the clinics that run electro sessions.

These units can be used on any other area.

As usual I'll feed back when considerable time has past to give some good wholesome and honest feedback.

i recently bought the bella flash by silkn it was on sale at costco for $185 and have done 3 treatments (every 2 weeks) and have had good results on my legs not so much on my chest and stomach. it takes about 2 hrs for 1 treatment and you shave before. i have not tried it on my face yet. it says it can take up to 1.5 -2yrs for permanent results. alot cheaper than a professional clinic! i love the smooth feel of my new legs!!

I got the Tria 4x for Christmas last year. It hurts like crazy so I've been really afraid to use it much, but the few spots I've been able to do several times have shown an improvement.

While this is not the thread I was looking for, I figure I'll just add anyway.

I bought the Tria about 2 years ago, and tried it on sections of my legs. This was HRT, and it bloody hurt like holy bejeezus on only level 3. I don't know why, but it's a LOT harder to inflict pain on youself than to have a lazer tech do it for you. The words " OK, nope... we're done for the day" come to mind, and I confess being a little scared of doing it ha ha.

So, I used it on my legs about 4 or 5 times... and some areas stayed clear... for about a year, even though I didn't start HRT until 6 months later.

I shelved it for about 1.5 years being busy with other things. HRT helped a lot, and the finisteride really brought down the body hair an extra few notches, as well as helping with my locks. I haven't had this much hair since I was 25... but I digress.

I recently started using the Tria again. With much thinner body hair, I can use it at max almost everywhere. Hair in my breast area... gone. It's thinning out even more, and slower to return in other treated areas.

Here is where my post is a little scetchy. The Tria is not approved for facial use in the US (unless recently changed). It was in Europe last I saw, so I gave it a shot. Much to my happiness... things have cleared up again. I'd had 15 laser sessions, but a few spikes of the dredded T, killed a lot of progress.

I finally feel back on track in that area... thanks to this little machine

Does anyone know of the implications of male pattern baldness? I am considering a system but read they dont work unless the hair is in the anagen phase. I am wondering if because of my baldness, that my hair isnt growing anymore, there for, a laser system might not work for me.. Any ideas?

Are you talking for removing your body/facial hair? If it wasn't still growing, then there would be no issue. Just shave it once and for all. If it grows back, then I'd say it's still growing.
