Why is buying dresses and heels so addictive. I just cant help myself recently ive now got more shoes and clothes than i have mans clothing and i have twice the amount of tights than i do socks. I wouldnt mind but i have run out of space in my hiding place. My parents are away this weekend so the urge to get more in is going to be hard to resist. Maybe one more dress wouldnt hurt. Does anybody else have urges like these?

Yup, I know how that is! I don't really have the cash at the moment to replace my male wardrobe but I sometimes cant help my self from running down and browsing. My closet is filling up with shoes.. soooo many shoes!

Hi Lucy

It's funny that you should ask this as over the weekend I asked my mum what did they put on womens clothes that makes buying them so addictive. Din't get an answer.

Clothes/Shoe shopping = "better than sex"

and of course "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" :D

It's just how girls brains are wired, just have to get the rest of the body to go along with it.

After saying I have some restraint, I've had two consecutive bad days at work and and am REALLY tempted for some retail therapy... lol

Well I certainly don't seem to have any self control.. I just bought a pair of pumps, and some more boots, plus a winter coat for next year (though its still suppose to snow this weekend). I really cant stop my self... lol

I definitely know where you're coming from! I'm really broke this month, so to save up money, I decided to skip my normal monthly grocery shopping trip and have been scrounging on whatever food I personally have left over, and any food my roommates have left over. I was catching up...and then I decided to just take a harmless little peek in a local shoe store having a sale. A couple pairs of heels and a few tops/skirts (to go with them) later, I realized I blew the money that would allow me to shop for food when next month hits.

Soooo, in essence, I'd rather buy clothes than eat.

I may have a problem... :P

I try to make sure every bill is paid for the month before I do any shopping. I make sure I keep some moneys for just in case and what left is MAD money. Mad money meaning to loose my mind spending it on cloths...lol..Usually I avoid most all retail places except clearance racks. Am a huge fan of thrift stores and have found some of the best cloths one could imagine. Am to the point were my amount of clothing has gone way past omg to straight up insane collection.. What can I say cloths rock.....

Ive never known a woman yet who doesnt love buying clothes. My missus wardrobe's bulging, she has more shoes than Imelda Markos - get used to it, its a woman thing, lol!

I am guilty as charged! I can not stop buying clothes, shoes, and now makeup!!! ...lol. I own more clothes now then when I was a "guy". I think it is because as a guy I felt I could not express my true slef and feelings like I do now. As a guy my clothes were just something to cover my body and now as a woman I see them as an expression of Me  .

Nicole

I went to Ulta for the first time this weekend to find Dermablend. Oh my Gawd! That is my new candy store!!! Clothes gottem', shoes gottem', purses gottem', make-up always running out. Lotza money? No gottem'. I hope I don't find a new job just to support Ulta... Oh, the life of the pretty girl.

Like Megan, I'm a thrift store junkie. As I weed out some of my clothes in our move, I think I will regift a lot of them. If they go back to the thrift store, I guess they were just a rental. Giggle.

Oh my, I to am a thrift store junky, always have been.....but now there is a whole new part of them I can shop in, uh oh. My thing isnt shoes but skirts and bras and hair ties with bows. This week I had to brake down and buy a 2nd dresser as I was out of room. Originally the two smaller half drawers at the top was going to house bras and camys in one and panties in the other......quickly found out that bras need to be moved down to a larger drawer. camys stayed in there own drawer, uh oh filled up the bra drawer....what to do with the two that are still in the bag sitting on my bed that I just bought *hangs head in shame* as for my skirts.....if I don't stop I will have to make this new dresser that I just bought on Wed, exclusively bras and skirts......Do I think I have a shopping problem just because the ladys at all the thrift stores in town know me by name? Or because my new dresser is almost full already? Nope hehe The only shopping problem I have is I didn't have time to go today hehe

This need for retail therapy is an addiction sometimes for me, yesterday I bought three new pairs of earrings at walmart, to go along with the 30 or so pairs I already own. But it sure is fun and it does validate the woman that I am.

arr the joys of retail therapy. I remember the day i had spent more on my girl wardrobe than my boy one (granted i hated shopping for boy stuff and usually ended up buying the cheapest stuff) and then i had to buy a suite for job interviews. This turned out to be a great excuse to spend more yay. However moving interstate in the near future and thinking i may have to cull some of my stuff aww. But yes shopping is addictive watch out :)

I love to shop, as well. My shopping (and buying) has changed quite a bit. I did a lot of thrift store shopping, early in my transition. I did allow me to save money when building my wardrobe. The great thing about thrift store shopping was that when i made horrific fashion mistakes, they are cheap horrific fashion mistakes.

Guitly as charge, I too am addictive to buying female clothes. When I was very much undercover and had to hide everything, I became very much addicted to buying all kinds of colorful and very feminine and sexy panties. I had bought many other clothing but not as many since it was more difficult to hide. Since my marriage is essentially over I will begin to buy all matter of female clothing; I will have to watch my finances. :)

Shopping for clothes is something I can't stop doing. Back in my younger days when I'd go into denial I'd purge and have to start all over again.

Good Grief the money that went into the garbage still breaks my heart. I will not do that again and I have quite an extensive wardrobe now. I only throw away damaged items, stockings panties etc.

I don't even get rid of clothing I don't particularly like because who knows I may change my mind. :) Like I've never done that before! :)

I'm kinda poor now so have to cut down on shopping and I hate it, I need more shoes, stocking, skirts , blouses , make-up , sad isn't it! :)

Hugs

I'm thinking about some interactions yesterday I did, while presenting as male but acting as female, that were far better than I did when I was presenting as male and acting as male.  #girlunderhood. I do a crappy job at acting as male and I am giving it up.  I am not talking about feminine gestures or presentation but just relating as a woman.  People don't realize I am doing it but it is a whole lot easier to do.   You don't just put on a dress and BOOM you are a girl.  You are a girl and you put on a dress.  Or not. Whether I am in jeans or a skirt (I wish, wife would have lots to say) I am a girl.  I don't need $250 in makeup and heels and hose and all that.  I don't need surgery. Honey, I have arrived.  Now I have to work out how that best works in my life, causing the minimal damage and creating the maximum good, but I have more working room.   Oh, and I am still pissed off at everyone and everything. #Contradictory.

@Willow it is certainly possible that my husband planned it. Placing me in the path of an opportunity....he certainly does things like that. GF has done some work for the company as an outside consultant, so I'm sure the company owner knows what potential resources are around.    It could also have just happened randomly. He has taken me to work with him before, just because he likes to have me around. I remember one time that I fell asleep with my head in his lap, and he held a meeting with his subordinates without waking me and making me move.  The company culture is family oriented and relaxed.

The photo is great.  Software is phenomenal but it also is sort of a promise of things to come. Years ago this sort of thing took a photographer and Photoshop and all sorts of things and you would say, "I can look like THIS??"   Me, I am a duck.  That's from my driver's license.  Just kidding.

I lucked into that picture. I took like 10 before that, which appropriately make me look like a donkey. ;)   Thank you so much for the compliment!

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.
