I am on day 18 of HRT and know very little about any of this, this is my first and only support group and it looks like it has everything I need. On day 14 my emotions kicked in big time and i knew i could not do this alone. I had signed up for the house of sissify paid $10 and never got in after 2 or3 days wrote the staff a letter chewing them out guess i am getting a refund. :) I thought they was doing it on purpose I did right tthem back and apoligise but guess still getting refund lol a transgender girl checked it out for me and said it was demeaning to women, so i am glad it did not go thru I think the traing is having a mistress guess is fine for ones into that but would be damaging to me. Took me years to heal from my exwifes verbal abuse so do not need that.

Day 15 was ready to quit but was going to wait to see what supporet had to say. The same day got engaged to a gorgeous Lady that happens to love transgender women Sofia she will be joing the group. I do not know what label if any i fall under but here to get educated plus upport. Love to all. <3 Olivia :)

Welcome to Laura's playground Olivia and thanks for sharing here :) Many understanding folks about to share with.

As always please do take a moment to review the "terms and conditions" (rules of the playground) of these forums, the link is always located in the lower right hand corner of this site.

HRT can be a roller coaster for sure, hang on cuz at 15 days your barely getting started  the smallest of things may bring tears, just get used to it, it's a female thing. Think happy tears, and have your levels checked especially when starting out.

Hugs

Welcome to the forums dear. This was certainly better for me than being "forced" into a female role. I never found that i needed forcing but that was me. We all have different paths and Laura's is a good place to share your experiences and feelings. We try not to judge others here and instead hope you will find your own path. Many of us have found that a gender therapist (GT) has helped so you will see that mentioned. Often starting on hormones requires some therapy and professional help. It can be such a dangerous course to take without at least that sort of support. Hope to see you and yours here in the time to come.

Hugs,

Charlie

Thank you everyone so very much I do feel at home here and Loved. Well turned out My Gorgeous Fiance and her 2 year old daughter was a fake profile Talked to Sofia on FB last night came back on and she had me blocked I was really hurt and crying and thanks to some friends at Tgirls friends I got the Love and support that I needed and also have a male friend we chat daily and encourage one another I was not sure if he new i was transgender so told him with fear of losing his friendship and he still loved me just the same in friendship. I feel great now i wish i would have done this along time ago tells me I am doing the right thing. I did email one of the gender therapist if thats what i was suppose to do but the hormones I bought online and taking them without supervision. Should I see my regular doctor for that? Or the Gender therapist or maybe she would send me to one. I am on Disability do not know if it will pay for gender therapist I have a counselor that does me no good going to call a therapist and try to switch the counselor talks about our trucks and basket ball really heard enough about that. I have Manic Depressive Disorder ( Bipolor ) but actually on the hormones have been much more happy so think my doc would give them to me.

This site is so big liked to never found this page will try to sign up for chat if i dont get lost lol. Guess i will put my pic up if i figure out how just bought makeup and was very confusing thought i had what i needed turns out i forgot the makeup so used the eye stuff on face also. LMFAO :) So assume will only get better from here. Thanks again everyone for accepting me and loving me as i am. Olivia :)

Any therapist can address gender issues but someone trained in and experienced with them may do a better job.

As for your hormones, please, please, please get with a doctor now!

I've been under supervision of a doctor and had to have blood pressure issues resolved. If I'd not been monitoring these and working with my physician, I could have had a stroke but because I was under his care, we caught that and immediately began to work to resolve it and now it's under control, as well as something we want to watch.

Hormones are powerful medicine. Please see a doctor as soon as possible!

I am related by blood to one Bi Polar family member, and through her to her other parent who is also Bi Polar!! (My ex and my daughter). A BIG danger they both have from any medication that makes them feel "good" in a certain range of things, is that they will start goofing off on their mood stabilizer meds, and it is hospital time as they crash and burn.

You definitely need to have your psychiatrist and your pharmacist aware of drugs that were not prescribed by the psychiatrist. If you are on a stable set of meds that has you functioning for very long periods of time, you do not want to destabilize them. I do know other TG people who are Bi Polar who are on hormones and have stability periods going very long times. A couple are rapid cycle BP, and their estrogen was given one way so it would be a more constant presence in their system. People with longer cycle BP will have their 'script' given for another type of E. You are not inelegible for HRT just because you are TG. Your psychiatrist is a good place to start asking about a GT. GT's are garden variety therapists along with the gender specialty and can counsel a variety of things, so if there is a snag on your state disability medical insurance, there is some way you can get the counseling if the Therapist is sharp. .

Hi Olivia,

For many years I suffered Major Depression. Later I was re-diagnosed as Bipolar.

I had no problems with HRT. I have been very stable for long periods.

The important thing to remember is that no matter how good you feel, you must continue taking the psych. meds.

For me, when I finally Came-Out & Transitioned all my depression disappeared.

I currently see a PCP, Endocrinologist, and Psychiatrist for my meds and have my blood levels checked regularly.

Most importantly, do not self medicate-it can be deadly.

You don't have to thank us for accepting you and loving you as you are.

It is our pleasure to have you here.

Feel free to continue asking questions, it is the only way you will get answers.

Hugs,

Carla

Hi Olivia

I remember back when I first landed here and many of the above gracious ladies took me by the hand and never steered me wrong. The advice they are giving you is spot on and I know a thing or two about medicine having worked in healthcare for 25 years.

Being Transgendered and dealing with dysphoria can push folks into doing things that are best left to professional help. My ex-wife went against medical advice and almost died less than two weeks ago of a serious stroke. I've tried for the past 32 years to get her to listen to her doctor inste4ad of trying to dictate to her doctors.

Olivia, we're here advocating a same and sensible approach to transitioning. I can promise you it works. Two years ago, I was in therapy with a Therapist, then a letter and started HRT. I've changed my name legally a couple weeks ago and I'm scheduled for Feminine Facial surgery the end of next month. And one way or another, I want the whole enchilada in a year. That's how you want to do it and you to can do it Olivia. You get there sooner than you think. We'll help guide you there. Take care and welcome to the Playground Olivia. Kathryn

Olivia, as i mentioned before please get some professional (MDs) help with your HRT. You will get bored with all of us for saying that but without supervision you are really in dangerous territory. Any doctor can do the prescriptions and monitor you for blood levels and potential life threating conditions. I am not surprised that you have found that you feel better even with self medication but as a person with health problems i know how hard it is to balance and get the right levels for my situation.

Your Psychiatrist should be able to help you with your gender issues. You may have to ask and find out if he or she feels she can help you. If not please try to find someone who can.

We do care about you here and only want you to be well.

Hugs,

Charlie

Love it! This is great news. We need more of this to combat the excessive hate-filled rhetoric and misinformation. 👍

The experience was the same for me @April Marie. I slept much deeper and I woke up each morning feeling so much more restful sleeping with forms solidly in place. For me, wearing breast forms at night started when before I was a teenager. I had no access up to modern breast forms and certainly no way to buy mastectomy bras back then. I wore a basic bra my mom had put in a donation box and two pairs of soft cotton socks. I have some crazy memories of things I did in my youth to combat my GD but regardless, these makeshift concoctions helped me work through it all.   All My Best, Susan R🌷

Colorado isn't exactly a Republican place, and won't become one anytime soon.  I think those folks might be better off not spending their time playing Don Quixote.    We certainly have our share of California "refugees" moving into where I live, so I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing Coloradans too.  I suspect the trend over the next few years will see the blue areas getting more blue and the red areas getting more red as anybody who can relocate tries to find a place where they fit better.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Well, at least it'll be a place some folks could choose.  Options are a good thing.

My family would have gobbled that jar up in a minute or two.  When we do have pickled herring, its usually for Christmas.  I didn't grow up with that particular dish, but I grew up in a Greek family so I like just about any kind of fish if I can get it.  However, ocean fish and freshwater fish taste so different.  We usually have more catfish and tilapia to eat than anything else.    What I can't quite get used to is the tons of cabbage my GF insists on eating.  When you live with a Russian, there is always cabbage soup.  Always.  When I first moved in with her, breakfast was "shchi" for soup and either bread or "kasha" which is a bowl of boiled buckwheat with butter and salt.  Those dishes can be made in any number of ways, some are better than others.  In the winter, it can even be salty and sour like kraut.  Not exactly sauerkraut, but packed in tubs with vinegar and salt so it keeps partially for the winter.  But I drew the line when the cabbage soup included pieces of fried snake one day.  😆

Good evening to you as well @Mmindy   That is awesome that you have support from her side. My dad has communicated with me once and that was because he was forced to. His new wife wanted to spend time with my kids. He hated me so much he was in the process of taking my rights away as a parent to my two boys. He was talking to a lawyer and I called him out on it. I don't love him at all. I'll respect him because I wouldn't be here without him but I wished I had another father. My uncles don't talk to me and unfriended me on Facebook. Almost all cousins except for two are still Facebook friends but they don't give me any support. My mom said she won't support me with that but she has said that she loves me. I have nieces and nephews that are still Facebook friends but they have yet to talk to me. I have one sister that supports me out of three. The other's disrespect me by deadnaming me. They have never called me their sister. I think for them they think it's still a phase. They don't ask questions about me being trans. I have to bring it up and on the look of their faces they don't look comfortable about it.

Good evening @Ashley0616,   I just got offline with HP tech support trying to get my printer tool box icon locked to my tool bar. This is one of the most important features of my printer that I like because it keeps track of ink, paper, and scanned documents. I'm diffidently not a computer geek.   I'll catch up with the other bookmarks next week. We leave to go home for the Easter Holiday with our families. Saturday with her side, and Sunday with my side. What's odd about that is I'm out to more of her side and they're reluctantly supportive. My side on the other hand are less supportive, and my sister just under me in age will not acknowledge my being there. She will be constantly moving to keep from dealing with me. I'm dead to her.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I used to follow baseball and the team I would cheer for is Boston Red Sox. My favorite player was Papi. He was an awesome guy and even held a child during the National Anthem. I haven't watched baseball for a long time. It just died off to me.
    • Ashley0616
That stinks that nothing transferred, and no bookmarks were saved!

I'm doing patches for now but I think soon I'll go to shots because it's hard to alternate when you are doing two xx patches at once. Unless she gives me Estradiol and progesterone

My view is we are "dependent" on government, because as a society, we are too lazy to stay actively involved. So, we let politicians do our bidding for us.  I think we'd be in a better place government wise if we policed the actions of our politicians.  We elected them; they work for us.  Sadly, we are allowing them to run amok.  We are where we are because we have chosen to let politicians make all decisions without us.  Remember "by the people, for the people?" That was the intent of our democracy.  Today, however, it is "by the politicians, for the politicians," the people be damned.

"Play Ball! Batter Up!" is the closing line of the National Anthem as far as I'm concerned. It's the call of the Home Plate Umpire and signals the start of the game. I grew up in the TV and Radio broadcast of the St. Louis Cardinals. Harry Caray, Jack Buck, Tim McCarver, and Mike Shannon, were the voices on my transistor radio. KMOX 1120 AM pushing 50,000 watts of Class A clear-channel non-directional signal. It could be picked up all across MO, IL, IN to the East. KS, OK, CO to the West. IA, MN to the North, and KY, TN, AR to the South. There has always been a rivalry against the Chicago Cubs, in the National League. As for the American League, I have to pull for the Kansas City Royals. I've also been a Little League Umpire, and fan of everything the Little League stands for. Going to Williamsport, PA and seeing the Little League World Series is in my top 10 things to do on my bucket list.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
