So while taking a break between my studies, I was going through my music playlist and it got me thinking about which bands I would consider my favorite (beyond just my first two obvious choices). So I thought it would be interesting to hear what everyone else's favorites might be too. :)

So lets go with 5. What are your top 5 favorite bands/artists? To make it even more interesting, also list the song you feel best represents everything you love about said band. (Or just your favorite song by them ;) )

For me the first 4 are pretty easy but there are a ton of bands that I like pretty closely after that, which made it pretty difficult to pick one but I ultimately did settle on one. :)

1. Paramore - Ignorance

2. Lacuna Coil - Spellbound

3. Icon for Hire - Get Well

4. Nightwish - Planet Hell

5. Amaranthe - Invincible

So those are my top 5 with my top song for each , whats yours? :)

Hi Sarah,

There are so many over the years, when picking favorites however I tend to gravitate toward the music of my youth (why is that ?), although I do enjoy much from the here and now.

Jimi Hendrix - If 6 was 9

Led Zepplin - The Ocean

Yes - Yours is no disgrace

Eagles - Visions

Jethro Tull - Farm on the Freeway

Cyndi -

My all time top 5:

Bad Company- Bad Company or maybe Company of Strangers

Fleetwood Mac- The Chain

Free-Wishing Well

Def Leppard-Paper Sun

Iron Maiden- Hallowed be thy name

I'm fan of pretty much every sub genre of rock or metal, from the singer-songwriter type thing to death and black metal. Blues rock and hard rock are my favorites. I also enjoy some blues, country, and a bit of rap.

Some pretty decent lists so far. :)

Those are some pretty solid bands even today. I love some older bands that are before my time as well but having grown up in the late 90s and early 00's (as a teen) with the exception of a few bands there just isn't that much to like! The 90s in my opinion were not a great decade for music and I suppose some of the stuff I liked then I outgrew. I think you grew up in a really solid music era, Led Zepplin for example I don't think that'll ever really fade away awesome stuff.

I used to gravitate solely to Punk and Metal genres my self, but I do like some variety out side of that as well. I think every genre probably has its gems. :)

Great thread :) I am going to say some pretty obscure ones here so I might have a bit of explaining to do.

1) Hybrid. They are a three-piece electronic music band although a lot of their music crosses over into rock and symphonic techno, combining electronic music with classical elements. They have written a lot of music for games and film and many of their pieces have been used as background music in TV commercials as well. Some of their music, particularly their third album, I Choose Noise, is very cinematic and it serves as great inspiration for me as I am looking towards writing similar music of my own. My favourite track on that album, and probably out of all of what they have done, is "Just For Today". It's a fantastic sounding piece of music that sounds very cinematic, it really stirs the soul and gets the imagination going. Dogstar (the title and the lyrics refer to the star Sirius) is another good track - it has some really cool sounds in it and the instrumental version lets you hear them really clearly without the vocals getting in the way (though the vocal version isn't bad either).

2) Two Steps From Hell. Again, it's all soundtrack-type stuff, but this is more epic orchestral. I have four of their albums and they are all great, the best one probably being Invincible. After the Fall is probably my favourite track here.

The others for me are all pianists that perform minimalist, neo-classical music. They are similar although they all have their own styles that set them apart. I play the piano myself and this is the sort of thing I am always learning to play and I have a few of their song books.

3) Ludovico Einaudi. Favourite track being "Experience" from the album "In a Time Lapse". I have seen him perform live and it was a night I will never forget. It was through his music how I became interested in playing piano and composing in this genre.

4) Phamie Gow. My favourite piece of hers is "War Song" from the album "Moments in Time", which I used to be able to play but I have since moved on to other pieces. Maybe I will revisit it.

5) Alexis Ffrench. Favourite track being "Kindred Spirit" from the album "Piano Karma".

Mine are oldies as well.

1. Simon and Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence. This song still tears at me sometimes even after all these years.

2. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody.

3. Fleetwood Mac - Dreams

4. Styx - Come Sail Away

5. Foreigner - Hot Blooded

Every one of the above groups has multiple songs that I love though.

And I can't let this go without mentioning my enjoyment of Diana Krall, Jane Monheit, Norah Jones, ZZ Top, and Bachman Turner Overdrive. :)

I have to admit Laura I have never heard of 4 of your selections, I know of Two Steps from Hell and I do enjoy quite a bit of their music! If you like violinists let me suggest Lindsey Sterling she's really good!

Queen! Love that band, and that is probably one of the best songs ever written. RIP Freddy Mercury.

I have never been able to select just a certain amount of my favorite anything (except food...always sushi). But I'll have a go at it.

1. Disturbed - as a drummer and a vocalist, I love the syncopated rhythms this band writes. Not to mention two really killer remakes from the 80s.

2. Rush - Obligatory as a drummer...sorry.

3. Matthew West - Great lyricist and songwriter

4. Jon Bon Jovi - Great songwriter and business man; not to mention anyone who can write hits across genres is a hero of mine

5. Thousand Foot Krutch - I love crunchy guitars with groovin rhythms.

I'm done changing my mind. Wow, that was ridiculously hard. My head hurts thinking about it. Stupid perfectionism.

I'm thinking about some interactions yesterday I did, while presenting as male but acting as female, that were far better than I did when I was presenting as male and acting as male.  #girlunderhood. I do a crappy job at acting as male and I am giving it up.  I am not talking about feminine gestures or presentation but just relating as a woman.  People don't realize I am doing it but it is a whole lot easier to do.   You don't just put on a dress and BOOM you are a girl.  You are a girl and you put on a dress.  Or not. Whether I am in jeans or a skirt (I wish, wife would have lots to say) I am a girl.  I don't need $250 in makeup and heels and hose and all that.  I don't need surgery. Honey, I have arrived.  Now I have to work out how that best works in my life, causing the minimal damage and creating the maximum good, but I have more working room.   Oh, and I am still pissed off at everyone and everything. #Contradictory.

@Willow it is certainly possible that my husband planned it. Placing me in the path of an opportunity....he certainly does things like that. GF has done some work for the company as an outside consultant, so I'm sure the company owner knows what potential resources are around.    It could also have just happened randomly. He has taken me to work with him before, just because he likes to have me around. I remember one time that I fell asleep with my head in his lap, and he held a meeting with his subordinates without waking me and making me move.  The company culture is family oriented and relaxed.

The photo is great.  Software is phenomenal but it also is sort of a promise of things to come. Years ago this sort of thing took a photographer and Photoshop and all sorts of things and you would say, "I can look like THIS??"   Me, I am a duck.  That's from my driver's license.  Just kidding.

I lucked into that picture. I took like 10 before that, which appropriately make me look like a donkey. ;)   Thank you so much for the compliment!

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.
