I am saddened to report that Robin Williams died today, apparently at his own hand. He was such a tremendous talent, and I've been watching and enjoying him perform since his television days in the 70's. He was as gifted a dramatic actor as he was a comedian, IMO, and his loss is devastating.

May he rest in peace.

This was very very sad news for me as well. He's always been one of my favorites. I've loved almost every thing he's done (shy of toys and Cadillac Man). I remember standing outside the Local Theatre (3 theaters back then) the line all the way around the back of the building for the Opening of "Popeye". I still have a poster for that.

An amazing actor, and a great loss!

Truly a loss. I hadn't heard and am truly saddened.

This is yet again a reminder of our major work on this site. Robin was not Trans* to my knowledge, in spite of Mrs. Doubtfire, but his death is affecting our community, and yes my personal church community as well since Robin was one of my coreligionists of note. We never really know the weight on another person's mind and heart, and darkness that keeps us from seeing what we mean to others and what we have actually done in life is the worst of all.

Not only did he do Mrs. Doubtfire, but he and Gene Hackman also starred in The Birdcage along with I can't think pf his name. I also enjoyed RV, it was just a silly comedy but still funny as all get out.

RIP Robin and fly with the Angels,my brother

I think my favorite roles of his was as Dr. Sayer in "Awakenings," Dr. Maguire in "Good Will Hunting", and of course, Alladin.

I have the memory of all the laughter and all the tears.

Robin was a great comedian and actor. My wife, son and myself had the honor to meet him one time while he was filming RV in southern Alberta. Having lived in an area for a while that had lots of actors and actresses vacationing I treated him like another human of his statue; with a simple nod of the head. I had also just got off of work and hadn't been given a chance to wash first either.

May he rest in peace now after suffering from depression.

Yes his loss is devastating, it just goes to show you how the mind works, it is very powerful. Thats why we as cross dresser's and transgender, and men and women who want to be different,(can't think of a better way to say it), have to be very careful. I remember when I was an active alcoholic, I would come home drunk and sit in the basement and cry. And ask god why he didn't take me, as I didn't have the courage to do it myself. Slowly as a I started to get sober, I realized my mind and the alcohol were playing tricks on m, so the mind is very powerful. To those who might be contemplating this action, remember there's a lot of help out there, just waiting, and of course Laura's playground is also here to hel. In this fellowship or group, there are a lot of very smart people, who might have been through this. To all, have a great day and love and hugs Sweet Charlene

This was very sad news indeed. May his soul and spirit be at peace. And may his demons be gone.

He gave us so many wonderful things. While I loved all of his work I think his more serious ones were his best. "Dead Poet Society" had a great effect on me.

I posted this on my Facebook, quoting someone else, because he said it so well. And no, I do not know Michael Evans nor is he a public person, just someone else out there who feels this loss.

"I know a lot of people are dismissing another celebrity death; that their life meant nothing to you. For some, Robin was our first true role model. A blue cartoon genie that taught us the difference between right and wrong, and that being yourself was all you needed to be. A father should and would do anything to be with his children, including dressing in drag, or even going back to Neverland to rescue them from pirates. An English teacher can be more than just a giver of grades. A blunt therapist can teach you how to love your wife for a lifetime. A doctor that shows us that laughter is what we all truly need in life.

This has crossed the line as just another celebrity death. This man made us laugh when we thought we couldn't. He made us learn when we thought we knew enough. He has inspired in most to be better than we already were. Peter Pan has now passed, but we can't forget to find our happy thought and hold on to it." --- Michael Evans

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!!!! A beautiful milestone.    I hope to see you tonight...I just have to stay awake long enough!!

It's funny with photos isn't it, how we think we look in them vs. how we actually do look in them! I'm hopeless at smiling and I have to try really hard not to frown or look like a zombie. I'm never sure how I come across to others.   I had a moment late last night when my eldest daughter facetimed my wife for some now forgotten reason, and when I was handed the tablet and talking to her, I was fixated on my image in the corner. My hair was wild at the time, I was a bit tipsy and all I saw was a woman! I have no idea what she saw in that context. I'll probably never know.

I hope to see you on the Zoom meeting tonight, April.  I might be late, since I am doing lights and sound for a play that opened last night.  I was home before ten last night, so I think I'll be able to make it.   Today is an anniversary for me.  Seven years ago today, I stood up at the weekly community kaffeeklatsch as <deadname> and announced that henceforth I would be Kathy.  It went as well as I could have imagined: there were some surprised looks, but no hostility and lots of support.  A whole layer of stress disappeared that day and has never come back.  (There have been other stresses, but that one is gone.)  I have been me full-time ever since that moment.

This is a scarily accurate description of what I feel!   I hope I don't sound too schmaltzy by saying this, but I remember when I signed up to this forum last year, during the sign-up process the question is asked, "Why do you want to join TransPulse?" to which I wrote, "Looking for a home where I can freely write about my issues and interact with similar people."    I think I just found one. ❤️

Good morning, everyone!! I was up early again - already on my third cup of coffee having walked/fed the dog and read the local paper.   We have a birthday party for a friend to go to this afternoon but no real plans otherwise.   I hope to be able to attend tonight's TGP Zoom session. It's been weeks since I've been able to participate with the illness/loss of our dog, two horrible colds in succession and our trip to chase the solar eclipse.   Have a wonderful day and look for the goodness in it.

I think we tend to be overly critical of our looks, whether we're trying to express ourselves as masculine, feminine or anywhere along the gender spectrum. For me, I use photos as a way to track my progress, to help me find my style and look and to help me find ways to improve myself in posture, looks, make-up, style......   I didn't really think about our FB avatar being public but then realized that when people search they do see it.   Since I'm not out to anyone but my wife, therapist, priest and people here, my FB page remains "that guy." I have created a Bitmoji that is relatively androgynous moving slowly towards the feminine. Long gray hair, earrings, softer features...I'm transitioning it along with myself. :-)
