result of my first 2 appointments with Speech Therapist

so, I went to see Speech Therapist 2 times. Here's the result for me so far.

My learned voice (the male one) is 110hz and is not a good voice to use according to them (yay, lol)

My natural voice is between 164 hz and 175 hz (between girl voice and male voice) and basically with 2 or 3 exercises I can easily talk like that

The aim of my therapy : around 180 to 200 hz, I can already reach that with exercises

of course, there's all sort of parameters that go with that. I have a list of them.... in french... but i'm really happy with how it's going and can't wait to do the rest of the therapy.

Hi Marie, is there an advantage to speak in French vs English as you work on your pitch? Just curious. I find my voice is the the most difficult aspect to maintain when I'm nervous... Yikes!

My biggest concern about voice is when you have a cold or allergy. I sneeze quite manly, and a T friend recently had a bronchial infection and stated her voice was like that of froggy on the Little Rascels if can remember such a voice.

Yes, those random noises can be an issue. I still don't know how to clear my throat without sounding like Paul Bunyan at an ENT convention. Sneezes are a different thing, though. We once had a young woman in the office whose sneeze could be heard in the next zip code. People would hold up signs with suggested Richter Scale readings. (she didn't mind, honest. She knew what she sounded like)

French is such a sweet language that i'm sure it sounds more feminine than guttural english. I certainly try to avoid coughing or sneezing in a crowded ladies room. Without the visual clues i could be in trouble.

Remember there are lots of natal females with lower ranged voices as well. Your natural voice alone may be quite sufficient but if you can reach the range your therapist is targeting, your voice should be fine!

well, like the previous specialist I saw to get the male voice, those 3 are really good. It's been 1 week of practice with the new exercises and the pitch is great.

I'm between 140 and 240 with a lot of changes depending on the word. The thing I need to work on a lot now is actually using that voice at work in critical situations. It take me a lot of courage to be able to do that
