Benefits of Therapy

Hi, originally my first post other then my introduction was going a question about self acceptance but I decided to make it a post of happiness. I've been seeing a pyschologist for about six months and had a great day yesterday. We agreed that my wanting to be a woman is a part of me and has always been. I always thought this but its nice to have it confirmed. I highly recommend seeing a therapist of some kind my life would be a lot different if I went earlier in life (in 40s now). I have made a lot of progress recently with controlling my anxiety, going through the process of choosing a female name (ie finding a female persona) and joining this forum. Before seeing the pyschologist I was happy but my desire to look like a woman caused conflict and self loathing. I still have a long way to go as I still do not intend to transition until my children become independent, living in a small farming community does not allow me to express my female self (even at home). But I see hope and a future.

Lots of love Alexia

It sounds like you have a good therapist. Can I assume they specialize in gender therapy? A good gender therapist can be a life saver in finding and accepting who we really are.

I can sense your happiness and hope in your words, Alexia. The journeys don't often go in a nice, neat straight line. There are usually curves and bumps and roadblocks. But getting past them makes it all the more satisfying. Those accomplishments you mentioned are really big steps forward, and I know it had to be scary for you. I applaud your courage and determination. However long the path forward is, I know you will succeed.

HUGS

Thank you for your kind words. My therapist is not a gender therapist. I don't have the opportunity to see a gender therapist as I live in a small country community. She makes the 100 mile journey to my major town a couple of days a week. Closest capital (major) city is 400 miles away. This also prevents joining a tg support group. I believe this forum will fulfil this role. Mentally I understand my road is a long and bumpy one but emotionally I want to climb the tallest tower and shout to the world I am transgender. However I have to be content with being female inside and virtually:) Also I am lucky that my wife and parents whom I told are uncomfortable but love me.

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
