Where Are The Wiccans?

Guest

Recommended Posts

Out of all the Spirituality Forums this one surprises me most because no one is posting in the Wiccan Forum. I wonder why that is? My email indicates that roughly 10% of Transgender people are Wiccan. Where is everyone? I would love to learn more about this religion and I'm sure that others would too.

Its a religion that some practice solo. Then there are some who practice in groups or covens. Ther is a tremendous emphasis on the power of magick - really more of a ritualization, which is amazingly effective in my experiences - but I also have seen miracles in the organized patriachial church

The practice of Wicca beliefs is misunderstood by most, very ritualstic and very maternal in nature, with a nurturing spirituality - and the formality does vary from practicing group to practicing group. I gladly put together my practice and experiences, but undertand its just my way. I have honored the Goddess for over 15 years after discovering Her attributes, but I am also Catholic and honor the masculine side of the Creator. Duality in spirituallity - ha - never thought of that - they are compatable as I see it - only one is about earthly existance and nurturing, the other is for afterlife and salvation. Just me...

It's a nature-based religion (kind of like what the Native Americans practice) and there are several holidays that started as Wiccan that became Christian. (Christmas and Easter quickly come to mind)

I've been reading up on my neopagan-ness lately. If any of what I read is true then technically wicca refers to a lineage oriented, fertility cult, which there are technically no solitary practitioners of. I supposed I haven't finished doing my homework on it, since I've no cross references to offer, but I intend to read some of the books written by Gerald Gardener, founder of the religion. ^^; I'll be sure to offer up any information I learn and share with anyone who's interested. :D

I have been practicing Magick and realized my sexuality and spirituality were inner woven. Saralynd, your very close. =)

Goes back to the dawn of time really...worship of mother for fertility, and man for the hunt. Gardener ( http://www.geraldgardner.com/ )who did put out some wonderful books, as did the O.T.O, Golden Dawn, Crowley, to hit the highs myself and others feel Gardener just gave something that has been going on for centuries a name. The above have gone in great depths to understand and put in line the workings of it all, in a formula will say. Some of the readings I have done make calculus look like picture books, blah.

I would say here now that one is best off to find and seek out others like minded and learn from them, during the whole time to look up what they say, teach, take apart, re-learn and find a place in their heart where it all makes sense.

Its as if a spell asks for a egg of a sparrow...no egg? Get a rock, that to YOU will draw energy from, and a imagine to formulate what your trying to achieve. Is the same when learning I feel, not in a literal sense rather a spiritual....no matter how many books you read and learn, no matter who you learn from, it all comes down to that one person and how well they can transfer from this world to a spiritual.

Hello,

So you want to learn about Wicca, Well I have been openly practicing for 15 years and am still learning. That is because even though it is an earth based relegion it is more percisly a Misteries Religion and it compelles those of us who follow and believe in it to learn the misteries. Yes Wicca is a relitively young religion which is based on some of the oldest beliefs ever held by humans. It celibrates both the Feminine and the Masculine in nature and and in ourselves. I agree with you Velvet, my spirituality and my sexuality are interwoven as well. It is partlywhat gave the the courage in myself to finnally transition.

Sakura, This is a wonderful path and a very rewarding one. If you ever want to talk about anything please feel free to PM me. And did you figure out what they we talking about yet.

Love

i thought i found out why they said both wind and water by tracing its meaning through japanese and chinese beleifs. the water can be fluent, destructive, and adept with all three being elegant. the wind portion is known to be pretentious, powerful, and free all three with adroit atributes. though i am not sure if the meanings are the same, i do fit the descriptions more than the other elements.. what gets me baffled though is they said a person can only be associated with one element, for two at one time would destroy a persons link. like i said in the post i know barely anything about wiccan society but what i have been told is that no one known admits to two elements. when i dream i always see a woman wearing a spellcaster/rouge type outfit(using WoW standards) in my dreams, fair pail/pink skin with a color blend of light, blue, darker blue, and silver hair strands. they have also told me that their wican "spirit" has a form and they see it alongside themselves in a mirror or in their dreams. so i would like to ask you that if this is true, is the form i see a "spirit" of myself? now dont call me crazy because of that and i have seen it since long before i could remember. also everyso often i can see glimps's of the future in dreams, but the effects from the dream only takes place weeks or months after. soooo if there is anything you could give me, information on these would help start things off some.

Samhain- but it's ok lol

I guess you could refer to me as wiccan... but i consider myself a "naturalist" I very much worship mother earth (named one of my kitties after her-"Gaia") and the power of the earth. I have done tarot card readings, but i have discovered as i grow in my spirituality and my connection with the earth, i'm a pretty decent healer... although way out of practice, i hope to delve further into it as i begin my transition.

I practice a bit too, although I am a Methodist also. I believe that worshiping the maternal mother earth is a great way to get to god. I have a few books on the herbs and properties, but most of what I accomplish is on my lonesome! I put lots and lots of care into any spell/charm of any sort! I wish there wasn't such a bad steriltype of Wicca because it is up on the list of peaceful religions... I suppose it is because there is always a psycho who missingerprets what it is to be Wiccan and makes us look bad. Oh well! I still love it and it gives me much more fulfillment than anything else religiony I have done

Hope that helped even tho it turned into a rant and such. Charlotte

I was born and raised pagan like Javey.

In my family we kinda pick a "belief" system. Like Druid, Celtic, Norse, Greek, Roman, etc. I personally follow the Norse (Viking) tradition and work with those Gods/Godesses. They are ones like Thor, Freya and Loky (sp?).

If anyone wants to know more PM me.

The dichotomy of male and female, like that of yin and yang is one of the oldest in the universe. The male and female aspects of the divine simply have to exist so that the essential balance of the universe can be maintianed.

I know this thread is old, but I'm reluctant to start a new one. My beliefs seem to vary randomly between ambivalent agnostic, Wiccan, and sometimes I take to the spiritual idea of chaos magic, and the "meta-belief", as it is often called, in the power of raw human belief.

Sakura, I believe I am also of water and wind. From what I've read most people tend to have a favor between water and fire and between wind and earth, but the place I read this I also read that we should seek to rid ourselves of these imbalances. I dunno about that, but I definitely feel a connection to water, and, slightly less so, to wind. I never feel more comfortable than I am in water, whether I'm bathing, swimming in a pool or at the beach, or even just out in the rain.

I also once read that water is the element of adaptive resilience and receptiveness. Those who are inclined to water can find a way through anything, with patience. I also read that wind is the element of emotion, and spontaneity, and those inclined to wind are curious and fun-lovers. ^^

My aunt's a wiccan.

I know that it was associated with witchcraft and the word wiccan derives form the word wicca which means to heal from natural's herbs and plant remedies.

There's several kinds you can get into but Idon't know what or even where my aunts at- just that she wouldn't go into the Catholic church our dad's funeral was in and she wears the star in the circle sign. Shills.

Wiccan- Catholic, that's me. Its a personal thing. I believe in the CREATOR, only the creator is not the masculine GOD of the Sistine Chapel - and Wiccans see the Goddess aspect of her, in a very gentle and loving way.

As has been said many times, this is not a black and white issue. Sure.  I get it that a MtF person that has gone through full male puberty and "transitioned" 6 months ago probably has an advantage in some sports.  But these bans affect elementary school kids too. I mean, banning trans women from Darts?  Chess?

Good morning    Now @Abigail Genevieve and @Mmindy what makes you so certain I didn’t mean it to say bee itch certificate?  lol. Thanks Mindy. I was asleep when you saw this and fixed it, and yes Abigail, as a moderator I could have fixed it myself, or weren’t you pointing out the irony of that?   I use Alexis as my alarm to get up.  And I set the ringer to be two guys telling me to get up.  I was so sound asleep when they started telling me to get up that it scared me and my first thought were I had over slept.  Since I have a difficult time getting to sleep as early as I have to in order to get enough sleep I at least cut back my normal awake time to get ready.  But now I have to do my hair and get going.   enjoyed my coffee and a little time catching up   see you all later, for its hi ho hi ho it’s off to work I go.   Willow

Republicans have long committed grave errors by emphasizing their social agenda and moral issues instead of just focusing on the economy, lowering taxes, keeping the public safe, building a strong national defense, promoting business, touting reasonable immigration policies, etc.   The country would thrive economically under Trump's tax and business policies. That's a fact. Another four years of Biden will run this country into the ground financially (including all of our 401Ks and IRAs). But the GOP continues to play right into the Dems' hands by leading with their moral crusades instead of staying the course and trusting their fiscal policies to win the day...

LGBTQ rights Project 2025 takes extreme positions against LGBTQ rights, seeking to eliminate federal protections for queer people and pursue research into conversion therapies in order to encourage gender and sexuality conformity. The policy book also lays out plans to criminalize being transgender and prohibit federal programs from supporting queer people through various policies. The project partnered with anti-LGBTQ groups the Family Policy Alliance, the Center for Family and Human Rights, and the Family Research Council. Project 2025 calls for the next secretary of Health and Human Services to “immediately put an end to the department’s foray into woke transgender activism,” which includes removing terms related to gender and sexual identity from “every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists.” The Trump administration proposed a similar idea in 2018 that would have resulted in trans people losing protections under anti-discrimination laws. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023; The New Republic, 2/8/24] Similarly, the policy book calls for HHS to stop all research related to gender identity unless the purpose is conformity to one's sex assigned at birth. The New Republic explains: “That is, research on gender-nonconforming children and teenagers should be funded by the government, but only for the purpose of studying what will make them conform, such as denying them gender-affirming care and instead trying to change their identities through ‘counseling,’ which is a form of conversion therapy.” [The New Republic, 2/8/24] The policy book’s foreword by Kevin Roberts describes “the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children” as “pornography” that “should be outlawed,” adding, “The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned.” Roberts also says that “educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023] Roberts’ foreword states that “allowing parents or physicians to ‘reassign’ the sex of a minor is child abuse and must end.” Echoing ongoing right-wing attacks on trans athletes, Roberts also claims, “Bureaucrats at the Department of Justice force school districts to undermine girls’ sports and parents’ rights to satisfy transgender extremists.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023; TIME magazine, 5/16/22] Dame Magazine reports that Project 2025 plans to use the Department of Justice to crack down on states that “do not charge LGBTQ people and their allies with crimes under the pretense that they are breaking federal and state laws against exposing minors to pornography.” [Dame Magazine, 8/14/23] Project 2025 also calls for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to repeat “its 2016 decision that CMS could not issue a National Coverage Determination (NCD) regarding ‘gender reassignment surgery’ for Medicare beneficiaries.” The policy book’s HHS chapter continues: “In doing so, CMS should acknowledge the growing body of evidence that such interventions are dangerous and acknowledge that there is insufficient scientific evidence to support such coverage in state plans.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023] Going further, Project 2025 also demands that the next GOP administration “reverse policies that allow transgender individuals to serve in the military.” The policy book’s chapter on the Defense Department claims: “Gender dysphoria is incompatible with the demands of military service, and the use of public monies for transgender surgeries … for servicemembers should be ended.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023]   …summaries of what’s within the rest of the document re: LGBTQ+ concerns. A person can believe their gender is fixed but incongruent with their physiology, but the authors and Trump (by his own words) just see the incongruity of an “expressed gender” that conflicts with what was/is in a person’s pants.
