I Have No Idea What To Do With My Hair

Guest DaJe

So for like the past 2 months, I started growing my hair out to be longer. It's been alright so far, but a lot of times it just doesn't look right. I'm know I'm going to probably have a few awkward phases with it, where I need to get it fixed up a little or just wait. I think I may need to do more though. I may be growing it out, but I still have no idea what sort of style I'm trying to go for. I just really don't know how I want it to look or what to do with it.

Any ideas or suggestions? Here's a picture of how it currently looks as of the time of me posting this thread :P

I had the same problem, but mine was a little longer - looking raggedly. I FINALLY just went to a good hair salon, told them I was trans and wanted to grow my hair out. We worked out a plan and over the next two years I am taking it out to 14 inches - that will keep it looking good the entire time, they said.

Cost money but now I feel so good!

Just an idea! People serious about hair don't care if you are trans.

I think Elizabeth has a good idea.

Personally, I think your hair looks good that way. All you need to do is grow it out a little. I have noticed that when I've gone and gotten my hair cut, the ladies that have cut my hair really don't care either. They'll cut my hair anyway I want.

It's all confusing for me. I think I need to work on my face a bit more, and maybe try some makeup or something. I also want to get my eyebrows shaped. And it's not that my hair is too too bad right now, but I feel it could be better, but that may just mean it needs to grow more, though I also may want to try a shorter style. Ironically, I think longer hair starts to make me look older or more masculine (check out my gallery picture when my hair was short and you'll see).

And still, my face is one thing I really want to work on right now. I just don't know what looks good on me :P

Mine went through an awkward poufy stage before it was long enough to pull back into even a small pony tail. I just let it grow for a year or two. Didn't cut it but once or twice. Made sure I conditioned it. It became the lovely head o' hair I have now and it makes other women jealous.

But yeah, growing it out was awkward.

I started growing mine in 2000. I knew of transition existing in 2005. By that time I had tailbone-length semi-wavy hair.

Never cared about the awkward stage. Guys won't use much for it usually, but barettes and tons of implements exist for girls and women. I wear my hair loose 99.9% of the time (meaning always unless someone tied it for me and I liked it).

Sara, who has 32 inch long hair.

Not that I have a lot of experience in looking great with girl hair, but there are occasions where my parents make me fix my hair. It's about the same length as yours. I think whether you look better with short or long hair really depends on the hairstyle... you could look great either way. Since all these ladies are giving you tips on growing it out, I'll play devil's advocate. The website www.short-hairstyles.com has many pictures of trendy women's short haircuts. If you want to keep your hair that length or shorter, check it out. Good luck to you!

Thanks, that'll probably help. It's nice to be able to find something I think looks good, and then just tell the stylist to make it look like that. They don't always do it right when I just give them a general idea. Especially since they seem to think I want a boy version of whatever I tell them to do. But I'll clarify that if I can show them a picture of exactly what I want.

I did manage to make my hair look more feminine a little bit, but it also looks short this way, and isn't feminine enough for me. My hair really shapes how my face looks, so I want something different.

There used to be an ad on tv that only your hairdresser knew for sure. While it was cor coloring I took it to heart. I went to a hair salon that does men and women and told after a couple of months of getting familiar with one stylist told her that I was a crossdresser and needed to have a style tat I could wear long and use both ways. She helped me by developing a style that I can comb it one way for my man needs and brushing it for my female look. It has worked well and I am happy about the look.

By the way I also asked her to style my eyebrows so that they were more feminen but not too.

Now when I dress up there is a much more convincing and a fell of authenticity for myself

What do you do to make someone else feel better or just smile?

A mixture of good and bad.

EXCITEMENT The feeling when you expect something good or nice will happen to you. You cannot wait for it to happen. You feel excitement when something very nice is about to happen. For example, when you are about to see a good friend who just returned from a year abroad, when you just received the keys for your new car, or when you are waiting in line for a thrilling rollercoaster ride. In each case, you are experiencing eagerness and impatience in expectation of the upcoming pleasant experience. Excitement is more likely when the anticipated experience is both novel or unique and desirable. It is especially intense if you have been waiting for a long time to obtain the goal, or when excitement is shared with other people and the event makes you feel like you are part of something bigger.

https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/several-attorneys-general-made-abusive-legal-demands-get-trans-patient-rcna147910     This is a complex issue and I'm no expert, but the actions of these GOP Attorney's General don't pass the smell test.  Their motivations and actions are highly suspect and they lack any credibility.  What else is new, right?  I guess it will all come out in the inevitable court fight.   Carolyn Marie

I went to work with my husband today.  He asked me this morning if I wanted to go...of course I said yes.  I enjoy being with him, and getting away from the house for a little while.  He spent half the day in his office, which I think is why he asked me along.  He made a nest in the corner for me, where I can plug in my laptop and do my stuff...nobody minds me being there.     But today ended up with a strange opportunity.  I had a conversation with my husband's boss, the company owner.  They want some basic graphic design work done, so I think they might hire me to do it.  Nothing fancy, not nearly as complicated as what I've attempted to do for our county.  So I have a meeting with them on Monday, just to look at some details and see if I can do the work they want.  And especially talk about when they need it done, because I still work pretty slowly.  I don't really need or want the money, but its nice to feel like I can do something again.

I went to WM today with the objective of buying sandals: they would be women's, but look like men's; they would be brown or black, not white.  I realized the cheapest way to go  was to go for flip-flops, which I observed were prevalent in the store. So I checked out the women's.  Flowers. White shiny straps. Nothing that could possibly be men's. The best deal was one flip flop for $3.98.  At first I thought that was a pair, then, nope.  And because I comparison shop (is there the same thing in men's?) I found the cheapest over there was $6.98 for a pair of flip flops in green that also match my women's cargo shorts that I love.  Doing the math, finding the pink tax.  Rip off.  I have found a blue tax this way, but usually they charge women more for something than they do men. I guess women tend to lose one flip flop at a time or something. Weird.  The pairs were a lot higher.   So, following my rule, but unhappy with it, I bought the green men's flip flops.  They were the cheapest.  Later wife of mine complimented how masculine I look in my matching shorts and flip-flops.  Inward groan. We have not discussed the Subject in a long time because I think she forgets it is there as soon as the conversation ends.  Or she is trying to talk me out of this.  Not sure.  We only discuss it when necessary, and how often do most couples discuss whether one spouse is one sex or the other? Outside of here, I mean.  So we very seldom talk about it and she is happier if she does not know about it. Super stealth.  I do the laundry and I shower in the shower in the wing away  from the master bed room so I have my own shower.
