Not surprising, given the attitude of most or all Middle Eastern countries towards the LGBT community. The exception would be Israel, and I doubt the Orthodox Jewish community would welcome the film, either.

They share the reaction of most conservative religious groups. Tolerance of those different than themselves (or their wish for themselves) is sorely lacking. I feel sorry for their trans* community forced to live a lie.

Sadly not a surprise, although for Qatar's sake, "The Danish Girl" should be the last of their problems, considering the massive amount of workers who are dying building stadiums for the World Cup

Well, a movie is just a movie. Maybe you have heard about the attacks on young women on New Years Eve in Cologne/ Germany. Although I generally used to appreciate the help provided for refugees, mainly from Syria, I´m not so sure anymore. There must be currently 1 million here and more are supposed to come. The problem is that they come from a totally different background which may lead to a clash of cultures.

The attitudes described in the article were towards women. I don´t even dare to think what would happen to people like us.

I think the real Lili was an amazing individual whose courage in her day was unprecedented. It is very sad that her final operation was what brought her life to an abrupt end.

I'm sure there are extreme christian groups here that would want it banned too.  Probably some that most would see as "moderate" or "normal" would go right along with the extreme ones on this one.  To me, religion is religion and once it starts to tip towards the extremely conservative side, acceptance or even tolerance for anything outside of their views and beliefs is nonexistent.  Like others, this isn't surprising. 

True Self - we have family in Germany and we hear about some  of those issues from them.  Not covered well or at all here in the US.  I had a boss that used to say, "no good deed goes unpunished" and I have to say I do think about that when extending a hand out to help others.  Unintended consequences...
