Going Fulltime before Laser Hair Removal

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am really wanting to go fulltime. I have not done any laser treatments yet on my face and was wondering how many of you all went fulltime before getting laser done?

I've been timing my facial hair growth, and though my hair is coming back more sporadic due to HRT, I am still having to shave daily. I am able to shave in the morning and not feel or see any stubble until late in the evening. With that said, I'd be able to go to work all day without any worries.

Milani you can do it, it just takes a bit of attention related to face care. I understand you don't need to have any hair showing for laser so that works to your advantage as you can continue to shave. You'll be red for a while after treatments so lotion and foundation can help with that.

I am doing electrolysis so for the two days I let the hair grow I just stay in and around the house. My beard hair is mostly white and there's not many dark hairs left. You look very feminine so I would say you should have no issue at all.

Cheers,

Jani

Hi Milani,

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I did a lot of laser prior to going full time, but just before I came out... I also had a full beard.

I waited an extra 6 months waiting for the beard to die down.

If you feel you are ready, and have no issues with being bristly by the end of the day... I say go for it :D

Hi Milani,

I started laser 2 months prior to starting HRT last year. I feel I should of waited now. HRT helps tremendously! I just did session 9 a few weeks ago and am becoming pretty smooth now. If you are not currently using a moisturizer, you probably should consiser it since laser does cause skin irritation. And for a day moisturizer, make sure it has sunblock. You need to have your complexion as light as possible for best results with laser.

We are all different. I've been on HRT and have been full time for 3+ years now and have yet to do anything but shave. I'm also able to get away with once in the morning. I'd like to have that gone and may still get electrolysis but it wasn't a reason to not go full time for me.

Hugs,

Charlize

Allie did mention something I think could be important to some, regarding laser and timing with HRT.

I'd had 7 laser sessions, and was really quite smooth. About that same time, by T spiked almost to male levels. My beard went crazy, and started growing again, and I lost tons of progress.

I would certainly wait for laser until on HRT.

As one who proudly proclaims to have done most of her transition completely out of order (someone has to be an example of what not to do), I did go full time before laser. However, it required a lot of makeup to conceal the beard shadow I had, and I also had to time my outings to 7 hours or less and then hurry back home. (think Cinderella's carriage but it turned into a beard instead of a pumpkin)

I don't recommend this, quite frankly. It took a lot of effort, time, and makeup. Just waiting until you've had a few laser sessions first will make a big difference.

Wow thank you all for sharing your experiences, advice and thoughts on this. I think I am still going to roll forward with going fulltime (just can't take it anymore!) prior to getting my laser done.

Jani - I think that I might do the same thing that you had done when it comes time for my laser treatments. I have lots of vacation time, so I guess it would be ok for me to take off from work to let the stubble grow in.

Charlize - Yes, I am feeling the same way... I don't feel that its a total showstopper... It'll just be an extra task. :P

Lizzie - I totally envisioned myself doing all of what you mentioned you had done - Curfew, concealer, and effort. Maybe I will also carry around a travel shaving kit in my purse for touch-up shaves ^_^

Kaylee and AllisonRae - Sounds like you both had similar experiences with getting laser before HRT. Thank you both for your advice

If you're comfortable go for it!

I went full time with the curse of an always visible beard shadow and didn't wear makeup for the first year! I only started wearing makeup to cover it when I moved to a much more conservative place and had to look for an office job.

I've gotten a few laser sessions, and there is a difference, but it's still there. I do cover it quite well with makeup, though. I feel some days I don't do it quite right, but I think I notice it more than other people.

If you'd like some tips to cover any shadow here's a video I made:

Good video!! I used that method for a number of years, but found that for me a Brick Red lipstick worked the best (orangeish red). Derma Blend which is a blemish or tattoo cover foundation has been my favorite for wear in bright lighting situations such as when I am doing public speaking and saves the steps of doing the red base and concealer. I have had neither electro or laser hair removal, and have been full time since September of 2011.

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".
