Boy's toys?

I am so glad we live in an era where women i know run machinery, farm and are in the construction business. I must admit to having a great time yesterday working on a new automatic gate on the farm entry. I had dug the posts in earlier and placed and leveled the tube gates. The was a bit of carpentry to do on the edges but once that was done i jumped in the dump truck and went out for same mason sand. Bringing back a ton i set the truck so that i could easily get it back to the excavation. Then on to the backhoe to trench across the drive. I just felt so good. It was in the mid 90's with high humidity but even so i was into my task. I laid a layer of sand...conduit and then more sand before backfire and compaction. It has been years since i've "played" laying pipe of any kind. Years back i was a laborer on a pipe crew on interstate highway construction. Doing this work just seemed so right somehow.

I went into the house, enjoyed the air conditioning and took a shower.

Later that evening i put on a beautiful light ankle length skirt and nice blouse with a bit of makeup and went out to a meeting.

No stereo types, no trying to fit someone else image of what a male or female is. I felt just wonderful being me with no restrictions enjoying the spectrum of existence.

Times have changed so much for me and this site has helped. Thanks!

Hugs,

Charlize

Sounds wonderful and I'm really happy for ya! :D It's important to those new to transitioning that we do not have to give up our hobbies or anything we love doing in order to transition. This forum has helped me a ton over the years as well and I'm happy knowing we together can help others that join or read this forum.

When we can routinely read things like "Today I worked on a pipe crew on interstate highway construction; in the evening i put on a beautiful light ankle length skirt and nice blouse with a bit of makeup and went out to a meeting" without thinking anything is strange about it, I think we'll finally be in a good place about gender.

OK, I'm jealous! Enough that I would volunteer to slave-a-day for you. Unfortunately the commute to work from Arizona is a bit limiting. Giggle. I miss farming, though I'm really a city girl.

I don't know that there's a male or female association with mowing lawns, but having done it for more than sixty years I still get a certain satisfaction from the effort. The combination of Florida heat and the size of our yard means I can't do it all at once, so I'm out there at least once a week at this time of year.

Because I don't have a self-propelled mower and I maintain a fairly quick pace, there's an exercise payoff as well. I think that's why I've managed to shed a few pounds in the last couple of months.

I just came back from shopping. I found a cute pair of pink capris. Now I'm headed out to the shop. I have to put my wife's car on the lift to check out a rattle she's been complaining about.

The best part of the new me is I can do anything I want. Anything!

It is an amazing time, Charlize! Your day between the dirt and the beauty sounds perfect

And, Kenna, I grew up begging my dad to let me mow the lawns, but it was "boy's work" and he would never let me. I still love getting out my little rotary push mower to cut my tiny little lawns. And, my dad grew and changed with the times, appreciating and respecting my abilities with "man's work" as I grew into adulthood. I'm sorry he didn't live to see my transition; I think he would have really loved the son I am truly becoming.

Having now lived 55 years socialized predominately as a female, I have worked in the trades (heavy equipment and big rig driving) and completed numerous home improvement projects (building a 12' x 20' storage shed, a carport, and trusses in place in my attic). People have considered me to be an unusual and "remarkable" woman. Now, my partner reminds me, I am transitioning into pretty much just an ordinary guy! Woo hoo! I can't wait to be ordinary... :-)

That reminds me,

I've got to go buy some plate steel. I've got some plasma cutting to do for some decorative ironwork for my carport posts. :)

Hmmm, I might even crack out the Tig and play a little today too! Maybe I should have taken the name Rosie, as in Rosie the Riveter.

Hi Everyone,

Just let me go out into the forest with my chainsaw to cut firewood. I'll be happy?!

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf?

P.S.: What do you call a female woodsman? Whatever it is, I guess I'm a dislocated one of them.

I don't mind doing stuff around the house but the thing is - I worry I'll break a nail. I much prefer it if a male neighbour offers to do it for me :)

My greasy pink fingernails used to be sexy to me . After so many times it's now just a pain. Please give us the number to call Rent a Neighbor? Giggle.

This week I started doing steel work again. I made a homemade thrifty one pound kettlebell weight and started my girl butt enlargement program. Maybe it will help me get more volunteer male helpers for this damsel in distress. Giggle. I'm going to poke it out like an old heffer. Work it! Work it! Work it! LOL!

Shhh... please don't tell them I'm a lesbian. Giggle. Hug. JodyAnn

Charlize,

Per usual, you inspire. Your ordinary day on the farm takes on extraordinary dimensions by being "ordinary" for you. That kind of comfort "in your own skin" is what we all long for. Thanks for sharing your inspirational story.

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?

Positive side of the mixed bag.

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!

Good morning, everyone!! The coffee upload has started for me but just in the early stages so I'm barely coherent at this point.   You've been missed @Willow - I hope all is going well with your wife and at work.   @awkward-yet-sweet We love to make beans with rice - one of our favorite meals.   No big plans for me today. Small projects around our place and probably some reading. We're going to have some rain off and on, and the temps are still too low for a lot of outdoor work.   Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!
