America Isn’t Growing Hostile Towards Christians, It’s Growing Hostile Towards Religious Bullies.

The author of this article is one that I consider to be very level headed in his writings that I follow on another site.  This is a position that I myself hold, and have seen IRL.  I realize this may be an irritation to some people, or could also be the key to their understanding of current events in regard to the Christian religion which I am a member of even with my several other spiritual journey directions that I have posted on here.

Since I am a moderator here, I am often hesitant to post topics that I know can be hot button and I remind anyone reading this that this Forum is a Safe Haven.  Comments are welcome none-the-less.

I agree with the bulk of this article, and I wonder about the quote "In fact, some polls show that around 83% of Americans are Christians."  I believe most are Christian in name only.  We only have to look at the divorce rate and current levels of discrimination to name a few concerns.  It doesn't seem Christ like to me.   For some time now I've noted in discussion with friends that we appear to have our own versions of the Mid-Eastern "radical's" we seem to abhor.  I hope this turns around sometime soon, but I'm not optimistic.

Some sects consider themselves the only Christians to the exclusion of all others and they are most often the noisy ones. Some are also being used for political ends just like the Red Menace of the 50's. Of course now its the gays, trans* and aliens.

You are almost certainly right Jani, that the Christians described are not deeply practicing in regard to any specific denomination's doctrines or dogma.  The identity involved is hereditary or cultural without regard to actual practice on even a Regular attendance at Christmas or Easter services (both for many of them)   Some of the identity is going to be on process of elimination like "I am not Shamanic (I am)", "I am not "Other Abrahamic" religions, Buddhism and the like."  "I am not atheist (there must be a higher power) or agnostic, and therefore I am a Christian."  Check the box on the U.S. Census and move on!!

I for one will not dispute another person's election to name a religious leaning but I will look and see what some of their actual character traits are regardless of declaration of faith.  If they will be honest only with members of their religious peerage, then to me they are dishonest no matter what they mouth about their character.  I would like you to attend my church for the fellowship and enjoyment that spiritual contemplation can bring, but if it scares you or does not suit you, go and know you were accepted if only for a short time.  You were  not whisked away when I secretly (because if I had done it publicly you would have been offended) ask that all evil mischief leave us alone so YOU are not evil.  As I well knew.

A good article. I believe that some are Christians in name only. Religious bullies like Franklin Graham give Christianity a bad rap. I also don't see the correlation that passing transgender protections right infringes on religious freedom. It's an outright lie. This is why, in my mind, Ted Cruz was a bigger threat to freedom than Trump because he holds similar views to Graham.

Nowhere in scripture does it say that disciplines are to "Christianize a nation". It says to preach the gospel, not beat anyone down with the bible. I can understand why some in the TGLBQI community are hostile to the bible, church, and religion as a whole. It's amazing when people came to America in the sixteen and seventeen hundreds one of the reasons was to be free of the religious and government tyranny of their respective country. Looking at the landscape now it seems that people like Franklin Graham and Ted Cruz want to return to that.

Good morning    I should not have said about sleeping in, now I have to go in 2 ½ hours earlier.  Oh well at least I. Off tomorrow and Monday, I think.as of now, hope I didn’t just jinx that too.     Hot today high 80s dropping quickly and rain to the 60s for a couple of days then more normal 70s.  It just depends on which way the wind blows. Off the gulf, hotter, off the ocean, cooler, out of the north rain and when they all converge, look out.  That’s today.   i made a pot of coffee but I think most of it is going to waste.  My wife went back to bed and I’m not good with coffee when I’m hot, and I am. That’s my fault, I was 4 days.late with my E again.  I just st have a really hard time keeping on a 10 day schedule.  And my reminders aren’t helping..   now I’m going to peak by tomorrow since it isn’t all absorbed in one day, I’ll hold fairly steady but if I’m late again I’ll drop well below my target yet again.     Im down in the valley, the valley so low But I see my true love, at the top of the hill i climb the mountain, but she is not there for she has gone back down, to the valley below   I didn’t come up with a refrain and with that I’m calling the guys with the padded cells. lol   Willow

It's funny with photos isn't it, how we think we look in them vs. how we actually do look in them! I'm hopeless at smiling and I have to try really hard not to frown or look like a zombie. I'm never sure how I come across to others.   I had a moment late last night when my eldest daughter facetimed my wife for some now forgotten reason, and when I was handed the tablet and talking to her, I was fixated on my image in the corner. My hair was wild at the time, I was a bit tipsy and all I saw was a woman! I have no idea what she saw in that context. I'll probably never know.

I hope to see you on the Zoom meeting tonight, April.  I might be late, since I am doing lights and sound for a play that opened last night.  I was home before ten last night, so I think I'll be able to make it.   Today is an anniversary for me.  Seven years ago today, I stood up at the weekly community kaffeeklatsch as <deadname> and announced that henceforth I would be Kathy.  It went as well as I could have imagined: there were some surprised looks, but no hostility and lots of support.  A whole layer of stress disappeared that day and has never come back.  (There have been other stresses, but that one is gone.)  I have been me full-time ever since that moment.

This is a scarily accurate description of what I feel!   I hope I don't sound too schmaltzy by saying this, but I remember when I signed up to this forum last year, during the sign-up process the question is asked, "Why do you want to join TransPulse?" to which I wrote, "Looking for a home where I can freely write about my issues and interact with similar people."    I think I just found one. ❤️

Loving this woman I am becoming.

Good morning, everyone!! I was up early again - already on my third cup of coffee having walked/fed the dog and read the local paper.   We have a birthday party for a friend to go to this afternoon but no real plans otherwise.   I hope to be able to attend tonight's TGP Zoom session. It's been weeks since I've been able to participate with the illness/loss of our dog, two horrible colds in succession and our trip to chase the solar eclipse.   Have a wonderful day and look for the goodness in it.
