Care and Feeding of Your New Vagina, by Connie Rice

A friend of mine is the author of the little guidebook that I think would be useful to others going into surgery or considering it. It pushes PG-13+, and has a medical drawing of a vagina and some frank talk about sex for post op people and some strong language.

@MarcieMarie12you really make it sound like a fun read by telling us the naughty stuff in it, but it really does tell it like it is for us Posties. That life is not the stuff that XXX rated porn stories are made of.  With your surgery for GCS  comes added daily routines and a few risks of health issues you never had before and even a few that on the wrong day can be a nightmare, or can simply be embarrassing as heck.  This actually dispels a few myths that need to be.

It was a short but good read.  I agree with Vicky.

Thanks! I'll pass that along to Connie. I'd like to sticky this if possible (nothing else is in this subforum).

I had fun reading this ladies book and comparing it to my own experiences.  Gender Confirmation surgery is a trip .Its hard after its done.  But also its a fun new experience.  It's your experience.  Knowing that you are now a full fledged member of the sisterhood.   You are somebodies sister, daughter, and your whole outlook changes.  You start out not knowing anything about your vagina.  You also start out having your life centered around your new vagina.   Spending hours with your legs spread open, with a dilator shoved up there.  You will survive this. Talk to your doctor about prescribing estradiol creme.   It helps with softening up the new tissues of your vagina and helping making stretching the new tissues easier.  I had bleeding and bleeding indicates scarring occurring.  You don't want this happening.

That first pelvic exam is one of those new experiences you won't forget either.  You start out a newby but eventually you get it.  I'm nearing my 3 year anniversary..  No regrets at all. I do regret not getting it done years sooner.  I love being a woman.  I'm softer, more feminine now.  Embarrassing situations at the gynecologist.  Use a tampon because of bleeding and you forget it's inside and you dilate.you now have a tampon where a gyno  has to retrieve it,    And that isn't a pretty sight either.   Every-time you see a gynecologist,  It's an embarrassment.  Have a mammogram it's embarrassing.  Its what woman do.  It's the life I CHOSE.   I've learn to live with it just as all woman do.  Men have it easy.  I still love living in a woman world.

Growing up in a family where women far outnumber the men I could see the differences in their lives compared to mine.  But now I have a new found appreciation for them and their daily struggles.   I never realized how easy my life was.

"...we weren’t taught about the human drive to live in one’s identity, how it can be more powerful than the will to live..."

THAT line struck me more than what's in the guide, although the guide itself was worthwhile reading also.  It really is true, at least for me, that the will to express my identity is stronger then the will to live.  I wasn't aware that there was something stronger than the will to live but there is!   If there wasn't, I would have ended myself long ago but presenting myself in truth and honesty prevailed and honestly, drives me to overcome what would bring others to their knees.  The rejection of family, the scorn of society, the obstacles in my way will not prevail against me being me.

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!

Good morning, everyone!! The coffee upload has started for me but just in the early stages so I'm barely coherent at this point.   You've been missed @Willow - I hope all is going well with your wife and at work.   @awkward-yet-sweet We love to make beans with rice - one of our favorite meals.   No big plans for me today. Small projects around our place and probably some reading. We're going to have some rain off and on, and the temps are still too low for a lot of outdoor work.   Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!
