Upcoming Expenses

Morning all!

We have some upcoming expenses I'd like to ask for help meeting.  I can cover all of them eventually, but response was so fantastic last time I'm here to ask for those who can to chip in again.

Chat License:  we have two options here.  $59.85 for a 90-day license or $203.49 for a one-year license.  The yearly license represents a significant savings, but isn't something I can swing on my own.  Whichever option we end up taking, this is due by October 3.

Resource Locator:  Startup cost for a more robust resource locator service is $26.  From there, it's $6 monthly, which I can easily cover on my own.  We originally went with the bargain option, which as we're learning with software available online isn't the wisest move we can make.

Website Conversion:  Our main website currently runs on Drupal, as previous management was opposed to WordPress.  WordPress is a much more ideal solution for us, however.  Transferring and re-building the site in WordPress will represent a total one-time cost of $61.

The absolute minimum we need to raise is the $59.85 to renew our chat license so we can continue providing suicide prevention services.  In an ideal world, we'd raise the nearly $300 to give us the yearly license and let us move to the new resource locator and transfer the site to WordPress, but those are things that can happen in time.

Thank you all for the help you've given in the past, and for anything you may be able to give now!

Edit: Once again, it took someone pointing out to me privately that I forgot to add the link.  I'm terrible at asking for money. ;)  Those who can and are inclined to give can do so at https://www.transgenderpulse.com/donate.

I'd like to point out to those who may wonder, that Dev has paid for the operation of this site from her own funds.  Unlike an earlier incarnation of the site when there was some outside support, primarily in the use of a server if I recall correctly, TransgenderPulse is on our own.  Unlike other sites that are run on a different model, there are no advertisements here.  Not to say all ads are bad, but isn't it nice to see pages with just "our" content on them?   The site relies on the support from volunteer "staff" to run and monitor the forums and chat feature.  This is the definition of a lean organization.  It is not a business where there is a profit motive.  The mission is to prevent suicide and to provide a safe space for members to communicate.  The mission is being met, every day.  I am thankful for that.  I'm sure you are too.

I know it can seem scary to send money to a website out in the ether, but in reality it's not.  It's no different than supporting any other organization that supports you, that you find valuable, or both!

As you can see Dev is up front with the current needs and nothing is extraordinary in cost.  I was surprised how low the values were.  So while Dev may be terrible at asking for money, and I can say I'm not much better,  I will ask because I really value this place and the people that post here.

Please join me.  If you can offer support to cover one of the listed expenses that would be wonderful.  If you can pitch in $5.00 that would be helpful.  You can trust Dev is not feeding a coffee habit with your money.  WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Thank you!

Thanks to all of you who have donated generously over the last few days!  Our chat license has just been renewed through January 5, 2018!  We now have only the other two items on our plate - neither of those are on any sort of time constraint, so there is time to pencil us into the budget for upcoming months, provided your budget allows for extras like throwing a few dollars our way.

Thank you again!

I have found more help here over the years than i found in therapy (which i needed as well).  Therapy was certainly more expensive so sharing something here certainly seems appropriate!

Hugs,

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?

Positive side of the mixed bag.

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!

Good morning, everyone!! The coffee upload has started for me but just in the early stages so I'm barely coherent at this point.   You've been missed @Willow - I hope all is going well with your wife and at work.   @awkward-yet-sweet We love to make beans with rice - one of our favorite meals.   No big plans for me today. Small projects around our place and probably some reading. We're going to have some rain off and on, and the temps are still too low for a lot of outdoor work.   Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!
